For years the Brood War team icons have been a way for fans to show their team affiliation within the BW forums and give some additional flair to individual posts. Today we add Starcraft 2 teams to that list.
Presence in a major team league will put the team up for consideration to be added to the list. Consideration will be based on the teams overall presence in the scene and their performance in team leagues and individual leagues.
Here are the additional teams you have to choose from:
You can set them by going to your profile and selecting a team in the "favorite progaming team" drop down. These will now show in the Starcraft 2 and Starcraft 2 Tournaments forums, as well as News.
Hey~! This is really cool. I think, though, some of the smaller teams have a pretty big following such as Infinity Seven, CheckSix, and a few others. You should consider making those as well
Finally. Time for the real fans to show their true colors, no more bandwagon hopping to whichever team happens to be doing well during the current season.
Looks like we can't have a BW icon and a SC2 icon at the same time. Oh well, sticking with KT thick and thin.

Uh, this needs a ROOT icon badly. They've produced some of the best North American teams around and will be participating in team leagues soon, hopefully.
Please add Infinity Seven! please they are the only team i root for. :'(
Here are some of my reasonings: Last mlg championship they had 2 players in champ bracket. Axslav is a constant figure in the community both as a player and analyzer. Crazymoving has been in code A. iS has been doing well in team leagues and they qualified for ipl tac. Axslav and jEcho provide great commentary streams... All of there players are starting to come up and qualify for big tournaments. Cmonnn! i bleed infinity seven black.
This is awesome - but I wish we could have one icon for BW teams and one for SC2 teams. I realize they are in some ways one and the same now, but the BW teams carry so much history that most of the SC2 teams just don't, they still feel speerate enough to delineate between the two. Still awesome, though, thanks!

Fantastic news, really great to see some SC2 team icons added. But I cannot change my SKT1 sad times, liquid, and slayers will have to live in my quote I think
but when i post in sc2related threads my cj entus logo doesnt come up. will ppl who support sc2teams have their logo show only in sc2 threads then or? what?
It's understandable that Root isn't there as it has just been reformed. Once it makes the cut, I will definatly be rocking that icon. Until then I will just have to wait ♥
I'm glad LighT's not an option, I would have THE HARDEST time choosing between Woongjin and LighT , they're both the best teams, I couldn't pick one :D!
Slayers Icon, SET! wish i could set 2, i would put on TL as well, it was a hard decision and if TLO was still playing terran it would have gone the other way, But to big of a Boxer fan!!!

This is so fucking sweet, but couldn't the icons show in the TL fan club section as well? Logically having one of these icons proves that you're supporting a team, or being a fan of that team. So logically these sort of icons would/should show up in the fan section of the site? amiriteorjuststupid?
I think some of the teams that disbanded need to be added.Like OGs for example.... If nothing else for the nystalgia sense you can still use MBC gaming hero in BW.

I'd like to bring up this suggestion again. I think having the team icons in the fanclub section would be pretty cool.
This is great but there is no way I'm going to abandon MBC. I just can't do it. Ah well, thanks for doing this guys, I know a lot of SC2 fans have really wanted it.
I've had a jealous eye on all the old BW vets with all their team icons for a while now, but never felt worthy to don my own, since I was late in hopping onto the scene and am not very familiar with all the great BW teams. But now I will don my fav. team's logo with pride. = )

I think with Fox and MBC it's more a case of the icons being made long before the team disbanded, and there being no reason not to keep them around. With oGs, the feature was made available after the team disbanded, and there seemingly is no reason to make one.
This is just my speculation, of course, coders could be working on a fancy oGs logo right now for all I know

Being the geek that I am I was reading the logo guidelines. They seem to suggest that removing the word 'team' is fine.
NAMING Team Dignitas shall always be written as either Team Dignitas or dignitas.
The only difference could be the font, but it seems similar if maybe slightly bolded, which the logo guide seems to at least leave the space for. Don't see the difference tbh, and I'd rather have a team logo than no team logo, right? (Not ment to question Odee, I was bored and read the guidelines and was just wondering)
yea this is pretty sick just wish this can or could enable some extras with our preferred team such as new content on their sites for fans in TL or coaching or something.

I have one suggestion for the TeamLiquid icon and the TSL icon however, as an artist/designer myself, i'd like to see maybe a slightly stronger blue used so as to boost contrast of the icon so as to be a bit more visible against the gray backdrop of the forum.
loving the add on, but sometimes the logo does not pop up, not sure if it is my comp having an issue with the coding or just a hiccup, hopefully all is good.

Updated with TL as my favorite team, as if there was any doubt. Hero and Zenio are taking names in Korea and the team continues to grow and gain strength in tournament results. Liquid Fighting!

It just seems silly to claim a criteria for adding team logos and not follow it. Or just say, "this list is subjective and we picked teams that are popular."
As long as there's clarity in why certain teams were chosen I don't care, but as a big community site I think this sort of subjective choosing is bad. Team LighT has fans and some people want to put that in their sig but can't because of some arbitrary decision.
I am loving this new feature, and would like to thank whomever implemented this. I assume R1CH, but I can just as easily thank heyoka (the OP) as well, since I know jack about who runs what. So Thank you very much!
Also, very glad to see ROOT in there, and hopefully oGs will be included under their reformed name, or what have you. I looked through for Eclypsia, and (besides discovering that they do, in fact, have a logo of their own) I remembered they may or may not be disbanding (feel free to correct me, I'm going with what I know from recent news).
Any pro team they left out? I think that's the majority of the teams, at least.
Cool. Now what about the sc2 race icons that were promised to be released in April 2011? Would be a very nice change for the calendar, interviews, etc.; then we can finally distinguish BW and SC2 events in the blink of an eye.
Since both Acer, Karont and mTw are listed as Premier teams + have some of the most dominating players atm, it would seem wierd not to have the option to have them as team icon

Shameless selfish request, but I'd love to have a WesternWolves icon listed. I'm guessing they might need a stronger showing in team leagues, which ones though.
WW have been my favourite team for a while now, and with recent additions are looking really strong! Would love to be able to support them with this function.
