sry man, it's not a pc bang, It's a bar. But trust me there is more than sitting on your hands between matches.
Think about it - a bar with a ton of awesome starcraft people. Pick brains about builds or just get hammered, it's all good. If you are actually, somehow, (and I don't believe this will happen) even slightly bored - talk to Galleon (me) you can't miss me as I'll be on the mic at times and I promise I will find you something.
As we're using bar wireless there isn't much bandwidth to share, but feel free to bring your laptop if you wanna show up your epic replays but at the same time if you don't have 100% protection plan that includes water dmg...
oh and if you're getting too hot, nothing cools you off like a denision and orange.... oh ya.

The StarCraft community is awesome. I haven't attended a BarCraft yet, but I did go to the midnight release for SC2. I brought my laptop, met some people in line and we rocked the King of the Beta tournament until launch time. I have no doubt that BarCraft will be a metric shit-ton of awesomeness.

It's like $7 in the Green P Parking just on the other side of the main road (Not Bloor, but the one that intersects just arund the block... sorry not from Toronto). But we found it last time, and had all night parking for like $7. (well, technically free since the couple leaving was nice enough to donate their parking pass they no longer needed)

I got there around 530 but was too full to get a decent view. Ended up leaving after am hour or so and watching at friend house. I guess that proves it was a success though! Would be nice to get a second projector going on the other side of the bar. would allow for a lot more people. That our get another bigger place? But I think the bar is a lot better environment than the theater was. Anyways well done by the organizers!

It wasn't that the bar filled up, just the viewing area we had was packed. We need a venue which is already set up like a sports bar with TVs all over so we can use the entire venue.

There are definitely enough people for two bars and I like that idea, but it might be a little trickier to find two places that are side by side like that everyone would find cozy. There are a number of places that have really big capacities though, so that might be something to look into. It would be nice if we could find a spot where everyone could meet up.
The time might come where we can have one Uptown and another Downtown. ;o

^ I agree. Or theatre. I guess it depends on how you want the social dynamic to be. Together and easier to speak to the crowd or trust that people will mingle with enough alcohol.

Cool video there, I think it captured the noise and rowdiness, but it didn't do justice to how many bodies were packed into the bar :p
I had a buddy who showed up literally 5 minutes after the last match ended so he didn't get a chance to see how many people there were, but I sent him the video so he could get a sense of it :p

and thank you everyone for putting up with the event! There were a few techincal hurdles, at the last minute we were limited to a single ethernet cable for internet and we didn't get other screens up - sound system exploded on us and lots of other little things but thats par for the course I think a few people overhead me saying it felt like our worse event (from a tech side) but really it all came together to make it one of the best and thats all becuase of how totally amazing the sc2 community is! (huge props to adam and curtis they made all the magic happen - I just get to yell at people)
everyone that helped (litterally) shoutcast matches while we banged rocks together trying to get the sound back up - you guys (and girls) as trulys awesome!!!

MLG Raleigh/Toronto was a huge turnout, people were streaming in non stop, and cuz the venue couldn't fit em all they had to leave.
I would estimate about a hundred people showed up, but the viewing capacity was only about 50.
I know a couple bar owners, so maybe we can get several of these going on.
If only 20 people show up and by food/drinks I am sure bars would consider doing this on a regular basis.
Also, if you are having friends over to watch MLG or any esports finals, start posting it here. We wanna know your experience.
The more people that start to enjoy watching esports, the bigger we can grow the community. I told some friends about this, and they were interested in going to another one.
Spread the word everyone, Esports in Canada is only gonna get bigger!!

I'm curious as to what times things got started? All information pointed at things starting at 4:30, and I got there about 4:40 and it was pretty busy already. When did the streaming start? I definitely would have come a bit earlier if I knew it was gonna be so packed :p

GSL viewing party would be epic. There is the 10 player all star match leading up to it.
I don't think it's possible to do in a bar since it would be from like 1am to 7am.

Ya that was pretty much the problem last time we did a GSL one. It was the super tournament and they had that other tournament finals before the GSL finals, so the GSL finals ended up starting at 4am and we weren't able to stay for the whole thing. I think the organizers are discouraged from doing another GSL because of that. But with the number of awesome NA tournaments coming up I'm not too sad about it.
October finals will be at blizzcon so it will be on NA time :D
