I'll be there. My attendance will be dependent on the SC2 tournament schedule. I'm sure I'll recognize some faces from the NYC meetup and I'll probably have my TL shirt on.

No idea yet I do want to get together and watch the games and I do want to explore the convention and take pictures. But if the group gets to big, trying to stick together with a ton of people is a big pain in the ass.
Well, I will see what we can do once the scheduals come out

Hey guys, before anyone buys or if anyone hasn't brought one yet.... anyone is considering of doing a TEAMLIQUID group pass or a "Professionals Pass" to get access early on for goods?? I mean since this is a professional Starcraft gaming site, it only makes us to be known as such professionals to come in as part of Teamliquid! I believe it's free too for such a pass and we can look ourselves badasses compared to all the regular commoners at the event! :D
Edit: Better yet, how about we consider ourselves as the "Press"? Since after all, this is a Starcraft Progaming NEWS site, we have many reasons to go there as press representative as long as we cover what happens for teamliquid! It's free for that too! :D

Maybe... but I'm sorta inclining to use my ability and title as the president of tv production club at my school to register for either "professional" or "press" pass to get into the event. Besides, I can use this chance to actually do a trial reporting if I can bring my crew along with this since this will help sharpen up my reporting skills.
But I was suggesting about forming a TL press or news crew over this or something similar and actually do something as well to prove ourselves for TL. I mean obviously you won't go in for free to not contribute. But it seems the idea is too good to be true..

We appreciate the initiative, but we're already sending several staff to cover this event.
You're more than welcome to apply for one of their press passes under your school or another organization, but please do not do so under TL.

Alright, cool. Didn't know TL staff will be going as "TL Press"! Hopefully I get to meet them then! Sweet!
Don't worry, now that I do know TL is doing their own stuff, I'm not stupid enough to do that to use the name TL in vain outside of TL.
A question do rise up though, under the "professional pass" registration, what do you think an "educator" means? Like a professor, faculty or etc? Otherwise I could easily come across as an educator if I'm going to take pictures and blog about it or use for my radio or TV programs, no? I can say it's for education purposes and have one of my episodes of my "video games radio show" to mention and talk about the actual experience. Do you think I could get off as an "educator" (since I don't think any other "profession" fit me here) or my chances are better with "press", or is registering both possible.... hmm...

To acquire a press pass for an event as big and regular as NY Comic Con usually takes either some really good connections or legitimate proof of past experience, letter from your supervisor, etc. I know that was the case for an event like E3 and SDCC. Not sure if "president of tv club/news club for my school" will always qualify, but i guess its worth a try, worst that'll happen is they say no, and you can buy a regular pass.

I registered for it and now waiting for response. I tried to put it as professional and legit as possible. If they ask me for proof of past experience or credentials, I can obtain that easily as my status as WABC-TV news intern or even bringing out some of my sample news reporting I made. So I don't have any worries about this if they think I'm a liar or something.
If they do say no though, I'll probably go for a professional pass in some way because I simply hate paying for full price (I think it's expensive for someone who's just there to look around) and like being in special attention than regular commoners. Otherwise, I just don't have to go, even though this will be my first time ever going to any form of convention...
I'll keep you all updated on what happens to me, whether I get a press pass or not! :D
I have had a professionals pass, unless you're REALLY gonna blow a lot of money on nice things, or have solid enough connections to have IEM let you poke at them early, it's not gonna do much for you. Heck, I'll likely have a professionals pass if my arm heals up enough by then. which I kinda doubt, sadly.

I believe finals will be held on Sunday, but I'm not 100% sure. We'll see schedule posted in a few days on IEM website.
i'll prolly show up. Partly because of the IEMs. Partly Because i have friends selling stuff at anime festival. But mostly so i can chuck DVD box setes of Avatar the last airbender and Shaymawhatevers head. I want my 2 hours of life back jerk!!!
I'm confirmed for this. I have 2 weekend passes. I probably can't make Friday because of work but Saturday and Sunday its on.
I'm anxious to see the SC2 schedule, hopefully there are no games on Friday. There's only 8 players so I dont see how they can stretch it out over 3 days.
I'll be there in a TL shirt. Assuming I get it on time, just to get recognized. Would be my first time meeting anyone from TL there. Or maybe I have met them last time, I just never knew.
I might go on Saturday and Sunday depending on money. But do you think I'd be able to pester HuK to sign something for me? I go gaga for him.
Anyways, I'm to much of a sissy to attempt to get in under the name of "esports professor" for a cheaper price, so I'll have to look into it. Hope to see you all there.
And Kibbit, I didn't know you worked at an S&M stand, you told me different types of Cosplay items!
I'll be there if all the days.... I'm really going to see the finals but I'll enjoy the rest of the convention. I think I'm going to cheer for QXC but we'll see
Yea, it'd be cool to do a little TL meetup before/after the finals. Especially since I had to leave the 7.5 tourny before it ended.

This conversation ends now. You should sell me long blue hair for my Konata Cosplay outfit for this Halloween, though.
I'll be some asian guy in a TL shirt when I get there. Just so I feel I get noticed by the TL crowd! x)
Hopefully none of my friends will embarass me that much when they start posing -- those in costume anyway.I just had to pick a friday class too... -sigh-
BTW is anyone going to the convention alone? I would love to see as much of Comic Con as possible, not only IEM, but doing such thing on my own might not be a fun experience. In other words, yes I don't have any friends lol Not here anyways Left all of them in Europe

Don't say that, I will most definitely hang out with you! I think a meet-up after/before the finals is an awesome idea. This way I can spend the entire Sunday on Starcraft/TL and maybe Friday or Saturday on the other stuff at Comic Con.

Depends on whether or not I'll be working the stand this year. If not, I'll definitely hang with you.
Phyrexi, I'll be around Saturday and Sunday. I'm going to try to see as much as I can as well but the SC2 tourney has priority. We might as well all stick together. I'll try to wear my shirt.
We need a teamliquid pick with HuK since he was just added.
Oh, and since I'm not on the list, and I've been very vague up until now: I WILL be there. It's really the details of whether or not I can work my usual position at the Anime Remix booth that I've been doing for the past few years or not, or whether I'll be actually paying to get into a con for the first time in years.

sorry its hard to tell when people are going or not
You can put me down as going, I get to go for free under the condition I explain Starcraft and how amazing it is to my dad. I'll only be there Saturday and Sunday though, it seems. Looking forward to seeing you all!
Actually, im gonna have a lot of free time and ill be at all three dates if someone wants to spend the time with me, ill be more than willing to spend the time with them i think someone posted that they needed someone to hang around with :D
Damn, I really wish I could go on Friday but I have to work until 5:00. I want to see all those games live. I've heard about how crazy the APM and screen movement is for the pros and how it looks up close. I've never seen it in person. I'll have to settle for Saturday and Sunday.
I want to see HuK play, he better make it to the semis. (knock on wood).
I am pretty sure there are places inside the convention center we can meet up. Lets meet up an hour before the games start around 3 pm. I will try to make a big sign for Team Liquid to hold up.

For those with time zone issues:
Friday Games: start at 10:00AM EST and the last round starts at 5:35PM EST.
Saturday Games (Semis): start at 2:30PM EST and the last round starts at 4:20PM EST.
Sunday Games (Finals): 3rd place round starts at 12:15PM EST and the Grand Final is at 2:40PM EST.
I'm about 90% sure about my conversions, you can also click on the time in the upper right hand corner of the webpage with the schedule and you can change it to an eastern time zone city such as "America/New York".
Looks like the general consensus is to have a meet up doing the finals day. I suggest we have meet up before the finals so we can watch it together and then decide on what to do after.

Saturday might be better, since people probably will be getting ready to leave Sunday night / Monday morning. Then again, it could be bad if the finalists wake up with hangovers before their games

I'll be hanging out with as many TLs as I can both Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday the games start at 2:30 so Im guessing we should meet at least an hour earlier to get good observation spots and see if we can meet some of the bigger SC2 names.
Sunday the games start at 12:15, same thoughts as above.
Look at my profile pic, imagine a TL shirt in place of "Air Geordi", and you should have no trouble finding me. I'll recognize most of you from the meetup earlier this month so if you don't find me, I'll find you at the tournament. I'm a parascope above the crowd.
For those of you that go on Friday, find a good spot inside to meet and let us know.
Edit: I'm down for some drinking before, during, and after. Throwing that out there.

It is possible to buy tickets on-site, but you'll be waiting in lines for a while if you do. You are much better off buying them online.
from my experience, eeeveryone buys their tickets online and then there are masses of ppl on the eticket line waiting to get in, and then theres no ppl on the onsite tickets lines so i just buy the tickets there and walk in and laugh at the etickets ppl
but thats just what ive witnessed at other events at javits, never been to comic con so i cant be sure if its the same
I'm going but I'm only watching IEM if I have nothing better to do (Stan Lee and anime premieres take priority and maybe Bruce Campbell if I can buy an autograph ticket).

I'm just a little upset that there are going to be so many games played on the day most office drones like myself have to work.

I read somewhere that the voice actor for kerrigan in sc2 would be there but i dont have a source atm =[
Tricia Helfer - Appearing at NYCC at the Official Pix Booth (329) She also showcased her voiceover talents for mega-hit, video game franchises in Halo: ODST as Commander Veronica Dare, Mass Effect 2 as EDI, and the lead character, Sarah Kerrigan in the Bizzard's Starcraft 2.
Going to be bringing my copy of SC2 to get signed most likely.
damn thats such a good idea to bring stuff to get signed but i dont really have anything collectable for them to sign cuz i wanted to mess with eeeverything, even watched all the content on the dvd, lol
also dont wanna carry it cuz im lazy like that
does anyone want to meet up before heading into the javits? first timer going into comic con, not sure what to expect however i can be of great help if theres an emergency in the javits cuz i know all the quick exits since ive been to tons of events there, lol
so I know we are going to be having impromptu meet ups though out the weekend at the games, but I was also thinking it would be fun if have lunch/dinner we can sit down and meet/greet? Perhaps Saturday night?

Seconded. AFAIK Gunrun's intrested in joining us. He suggested going to karaoke bar That'd be epic tbh!

Saturdays probably going to be the big meetup day, since it'll work best for everyone

As for eating afterwards, I'm up for it. Drinking is a no, since I'm still two years under-aged.
I'm afraid that the TL community has a lot of... spewing things going on. But I guess we'll have to see what goes around. Not to say you should share the bad stuff... Either way, four more days?
That's probably not going to be the only thing spewed after a night of drinking from the stories I hear.
Zing.
Susie's friend kept putting pitchers of beer at our table and no one else was drinking it. As an Irishman, I was duty bound to drink every drop in front of me. I did drink an impressive amount though before the spew.
Edit: I'll be there saturday, but I might be a bit late on sunday.
I'm excited. I have Monday off because it's a government holiday so I can spend my weekend at the convention and still have Monday to play SC2 all day.
Anyone want to hit a bar for some quick pregaming on Saturday before we go in? I'm thinking around noon. If you know a decent watering hole near the javitz go ahead and link it.
I'll be there on Sunday (wedding on Saturday =/); I'm the only Starcraft nerd in my circle of friends so it'll be nice to meet the NY TL community after missing all the previous meetups.
I don't have a TL shirt but you'll know me by my pinstripe sports jacket, because that's just how I roll.

Saturday and Sunday. Saturday I'm getting there at around 3:30PM. Sunday hopefully gonna be there early enough to catch the beginning of the finals. I'm gonna call Zeroes to find the hoard of TLers.
If i had found out that the IEM Would be there i would of been there but since i had gone to anime-con last year i didnt buy a ticket miss my chance to see pro players

You can still buy a ticket, I did a couple hours ago.
Ok here's the deal. Stuff starts at 10:00. Sooooo...
From 8:30-9:30 I'll be at the starbucks on 35th st. / 8th ave, across from the hotel's main entrance. It is right next to the subway station. Here is the google maps link : Link
I will either be inside chilling or outside smoking. So just look for a small asian dude with a TL shirt.
If you want my cell PM me.
*disclaimer: I might be slightly late depending on subway traffic, so if no ones there at exactly 8:30 don't worry.
Probably a silly question but: Is this all one event? Do I need a ComicCon ticket to watch the starcraft matches? I'm thinking of going, but the starcraft is really the only part I'm interested in.

Stuff starts at 10 on Friday, but the convention doesn't open to the public until 1 p.m. You might want to wait. It's "professionals only" from 10-1.
Also, I'll be there for all of the SC2 stuff, I got my press pass so I'll be hovering around the players with my camera stuff. Friday I'll be wearing a grey Dunder Mifflin shirt if you want to say hi!

yea it sucks if you don't enjoy the other parts of the event
I was previously planning on coming only Saturday and Sunday because I had to work on Friday and supposedly the convention closes at 7 to the public. Ive since decided to try to leave work at 5 on Friday to race over and try to catch the 5:35 games. The comicon site says they are open to the public till 7:00 on Friday but there are other events scheduled later than that (IE Venture Bros panel at 8:00) so I'm assuming they stop letting people in at 7:00 but the convention runs later.
Anyone else gonna be there on friday? Isn't actually that much on friday...Prolly check out the Vee concert and some of the artists corner booths. Prolly go check out the Spiderman movie reboot discussion to see wtf they are thinking. But outside of that friday looks pretty dull...

Edit: Gasp, Blind ferret, must shake hand.
ill be there man but im gonna have to leave around 3:30
I'll be missing the events on friday, I'm getting there friday night because I have classes that day. I'll be there saturday and sunday though (might have to miss some on sunday to catch my bus). If you see some guy wearing a TL shirt wandering around, looking clueless, it's probably me! I don't really have any friends from TL (forever alone T.T), so I'll be looking for you guys too.
Also, like I said earlier, at this point I'm only really interested in the Starcraft. HOWEVER, it would be nice to get my money's worth, so if anyone wants to take it upon themselves, feel free to attempt to initiate me into the whole comic thing. I'm open minded It would be nice to have something to do between starcraft events so I'm not bored all weekend.

it'll be fine
besides, the worst possible scenario is they don't let us inside right away and we all get breakfast together
I guess its kind of a good thing then that my classes end around 1-ish. Takes me two hours to get back into the city and over to Javitz though.. Oh well.
Question: Should I bring my laptop? Do people do LAN stuff at TL meetups (in-between events), or is it just like dinner/drinking kind of stuff?
Javits has pay-to-use wireless, and the prices are outrageous from what I remember of WCG USA last year. Not sure what people will be doing at the meetups, but for the tourney itself, not worth it to bring your laptop unless you're doing press.

I think this is a bad idea. You will regret having to carry it around all day. At comicons there is a plethora (3 Amigos woot) of free junk that you end up having to carry around. You also don't want it to get ganked as there's going to be thousands of tech savy crazies going in and out of the convention. If you stop paying attention for 1 minute it could disappear.

I thought this was for saturday.
I'll be doing this in the morning all 3 days probably
I got in under a "worker" pass so I'll be in the convention center @ around 9:00ish helping the guys who let me get in for free set up. So I'll be able to to meet with you guys as the center opens to the public, where do you think your first stop will be?
Just wondering, is anything going on friday night? The person I'm staying with has plans, and all the events will be over for the day, so I'll have nothing to do. Any TL events? If not, anyone have any suggestions for fun things to do alone in NYC on a friday night that don't involve drinking?
Ill be there guys, cant wait!! Gonna bring some bud too, hopefully i wont be the only one down for a mid-day smoke. I also hope to get to meet Fenix since I'm half peruvian and its such an honor to have a player from my country participate. Latinos Hwaiting!!
I'm already at the starbucks, wearing TL t-shirt and my epic badge Sitting in the corner near entrance from 7th. BTW when I was ordering my coffee guy at the register goes: "you from team liquid? do you play sc2? i play the whiney race - zergs". Awesome that completly random people play SC2 and recognize TL.
Haha, seriously Phy? I should put clothes on and leave now. Then I can hang with you guys for an hour or two, head down to whitehall, pick up friends and head back up.
Ahh, you're gonna miss me, then. I'm heading up in that direction either way, though. Right after I battle my hair. Currently playing the mortal kombat theme, because it's fighting me today. XD

Looking forward to seeing you all there! I didn't get around to getting my TL shirt, so I'll be wareing my Blizzcon shirt, although it shouldn't be to hard to find each other.

I'm already at Starbucks (always first!). Gonna wait for ZoW and we'll chill here for a while waiting for others - if anyone will show up at all. As for the plans goes for tonight after the games, we can either go to a TL dinner or karaoke.. or we can do both at the same time. We'll discuss it today during Comic Con. I'm pretty sure it's gonna be epic evening
Had lots of fun yesterday. I am so glad I stayed a little longer in States for this

Dinner was amazing. Thanks again for dinner Phyrexi!
I'm so glad to have met all you (and I got to sit next to Huk!!!!).
I'm realizing I'm in my "nerdgasming" period of realizing how insanely cool it is to hang out with other people who like this game. It'll be a few more events before I start to really relax
Nice to see some of you on Friday, was working all day today on Saturday but will be around for tomorrow. I hope to see ya all tomorrow!!!
Also, where do you guys usually meet and group up? Don't want to be lost searching for you guys for hours tomorrow.... (I mean after the event, like for dinner)
I saw him after the games, then I wandered off to pick up some things for my friends. By that type, TLers were probably already off to eat, and I was stuck there with my friend with a big bag of goodies I didn't really wanna drag around -- so I went home. Kinda regret it. But there's always next time.
Hey Zeroes if you got pictures of that optimus prime can you pm me them or post em? gotta gloat to a buddy of mine who loves transformers but couldnt come
It was so awesome going to comic con and cosplaying as a Korean Progamer. Have fun guys, I am stuck here at work till 5pm =( but if you guys are planning anything after the convention, I would be down for that too.
Sorry I missed the dinner last night, my girlfriend ate some sketchy hot dogs and she wasn't feeling well so we bailed. When I came to the stage to tell you guys you were already gone and I didn't have Phyrexi's number to let you know. I hope you guys didn't wait for us and had fun.
The L train is down so getting from Williamsburg to the Javits is a nightmare, it took me 2 hours to get there yesterday. I might or might not make it out there today. Good luck to HuK on getting 3rd place and getting some of that scrilla.
Edit: I'll be on SC2 tonight for all the 4v4 action you guys can handle. I already have most of you on my friend's list, anyone else that wants to be part of the madness, hit me up tonight. I have a vent server we can all use if you want to take it up a notch or we can use the TL vent.

Hey guys. Thanks for making me feel not so lonely! I'm glad I could have made it, wish I could've hit the dinners with you guys instead though. Perhaps next time.
Sorry if I'm not a very talkative person -- I just don't say much if I feel there isn't anything to say..
Feel free to add me on B.net! I'm not on much, but I try to make an effort to be a decent player. At the very least, better than what we saw at the play-center at the IEMs.
Came out today, the first lan I've ever been to. What an amazing day though, the crowd for the finals was massive. We had taken up pretty much the entire aisle from both sides of the stage lol. Energy was great :D.
It was pretty great seeing the crowd cheer for huk and drewbie playing, even though Quake was still on the main screen lol. The crowd must have grown 20-30% after counterstrike was over and Starcraft came on.
Lots of hot cosplayers today, I expected it to be much worse.

Sorry, I was not able to watch it as the were so many people in line even a few hours before it was supposed to screen at 2:00 (I went there sometime between 12:30 to 1:00). If you are wondering how many people were there I'd probably say something slightly less than the IEM and MVC3 booth combined.
I was not able to stay for the IEM finals as my legs were in pretty bad shape to the point where walking and standing was getting increasingly difficult. I would have watched from the side but there were so many people passing by that I almost got trampled.
pretty damn interesting finals, really should learn to do more drops and crazy aggression. Also QXC's clicking is insanely precise! spam clicking scvs individually without boxing
kinda sad about the overall winner, so i totally blew all my money at the end of the day to cheer myself up

Highlights: - crowd of people watching Huk's FPVOD screen - Phyrexi's name tag and Kerrigan signature - Someone mistaking me for BigT (should've rolled with it! haha) - All the signs you guys made! - Just walking in and telling the waitress "party of 25" - Huk telling everyone at the meetup he was going to mothership rush then actually doing it
Thanks for coming out everyone! There were so many TL shirts in the crowd.

Pretty good chance there will be some sort of event there next year.
Oh, and I almost forgot - I found it pretty funny that people were saying I looked like TLO at dinner. Never thought about it before, but now that you guys mention it...
Hey guys. I'm the one at dinner who said that I didn't have an account, just lurked. (black glasses, blue Protoss shirt) Well, I'm finally back home with internet and was able to sign up! :D Excited to start posting more.

haha, I totally recognized it at the center, but I didn't want to say anything. But now that I have a side by side comparison, it's pretty ridiculous how close that is. I'm just going to end up calling you TLO at the next meetup, because I'm really bad with names.

Oh and also, the "we need a table for 25" thing reminded me of back during a DC LAN in may where we went to the people a week before and said, ew're going to need a reservation next week for about 27 people lol.

That was my wife, but she's cute so all can be forgiven... right?
What an incredible weekend. I'm practicing and looking forward to the Cybercraft Tourny coming up quite shortly! Gotta practice practice !
I still have a residual nerd-high from meeting everyone and having a great time.
Also THANK YOU PHYREXI (again) for treating us all to dinner!!

Merging US and Poland? Heck yea! That'd be pretty awesome In all honesty, I'd love to move to States but without a Green Card that's not possible I guess next time I'm here I'll have to look for a wife xD PM me ladies!

although i didn't get to go to a dinner or real TL meet up, i was talking to some of the guys from here, and although they didn't know me, it was pretty cool to talk some nerd. not something i get to do often. i sat behind pokebunny in Day 3 and was sitting down during the horrendously long cs games. it was really nice to meet some people from TL, makes me wish i was involved in the community more.

Joke Explainer to the rescue!
In a natural process that takes millions of years coals can become diamonds. By insinuating that he is in a Coal league, Phyrexi meant to say that with time he will become a Diamond player.
