Don't post in this thread to say "gay gamers are like everyone else, why do they have a special thread?" It is something that has been posted numerous times, and this isn't the place for that discussion.
For regular posters, don't quote the trolls. |
This is how I feel, but do you think that out of the LGBT community, lesbian and bi women get the worse treatment from the straight community and in some cases, even the gay community? This is what I am observing in my high school at least.
When a girl comes out as lesbian and she is appealing to straight males, they are viewed as a waste, man hating, and potential sex. If she is not pretty to straight people, she is viewed as man hating, mean, and just someone you want to avoid and insult. When a girl comes out as bi, she is viewed as just experimenting, slutty, potential two on one sex, basically, just as a sex object.
And as bigoted and immature as views are, there is some truth to it because I know some girls who will and has kissed another girl for the simple act as attention. And to make things worse, some guys in my sociology class stated that girls are naturally bisexual and it was easy to tell that he was thinking of sex.
So the problem seems not the bi or lesbian girls obviously or even the faux bisexuals but how much of people, even the tolerant people of LGBT rights relate to lesbian and especially bisexual girls as just sex which is difficult to relate to because it creates an inhuman view on the individual. It is no different than when I come out to a homophobic person, they can only seem to be able to think I have anal sex and just plain perverted.

From my understanding americans value free speech above pretty much everything so you can say i hate gays or w/e because of free speech :/

Christwire is satire. Don't get too worked up.

I'm fairly certain christwire.org is satire...

Just the titles at the end of the links make me believe that site can only be taken as a huge joke..."Fat People are Gay" "Skirllex Uses Satanic and Homosexual Influence to Win Grammys" and "Daniel Tosh Spreading Gay Disease Across Viral America Tosh Point Homo"

As much as I hate groups who blame porn for everything, I think in this case there's certainly some blame to go that way in this regard.

Eh. Porn is just supply and demand. At worst it only helps entrench existing views.

Edit: Realized something - nevermind!
I will add that even if porn is to blame for encouraging the intense desire for sex in teens...its not necessarily a bad thing. I don't think there's anything in porn that says that a woman's (or man's) only value is in how sexual attractive they are and consequently whether they're the right orientation. But sex is pretty much the most exciting thing in the world for teenagers...why shouldn't they be allowed to build up exciting expectations?

Cindy Gallop: "Pro-sex. Pro-porn. Pro-knowing the difference."

An hour long but it´s worth your while. She tells the story from her personal experience. But if you know about commercials, you should start thinking twice before repeating such vacant slogans. "Supply and Demand" is an utopian understanding of capitalism. It has its advantages, but it´s not always as easy to apply as you just did.
An excessive supply of (certain) porn does sculp culture in a (certain) way. But I cant explain it as well as Cindy Gallop is able to show the problems of porn - and of the porn industry!
