Don't post in this thread to say "gay gamers are like everyone else, why do they have a special thread?" It is something that has been posted numerous times, and this isn't the place for that discussion.
For regular posters, don't quote the trolls. |

As you guys know, I run DRG's fanclub around here. This is going to sound completely stupid but the reason I haven't posted here often lately is because I was afraid that it might freak DongRaeGu out. I'm out to most everyone in my life, so I don't care who knows. But it would kill me if say, DRG...who's Korean... which correlates to a high chance of being a devout Christian...would be put off or scared of me for who I am... I'm honestly afraid to know the truth. No heroes are perfect.
What do you guys think? Am I out of my mind? However, the younger generation is more tolerant to homosexuality, and some even support it. I was watching Liquid Hero's stream and he played Lily Allen's "Fuck You." If you haven't heard that song, it's almost as pro-gay as Lady Gaga's "Born This Way."
You do realise the 'fuck you' song is about the BNP party here in Britian, it's more about racism rather than gays, because in the UK being gay isn't really that much of a big deal, from what i've seen anyways. There are a lot of racism issues though, especially with the BNP party rattling the cage.

I would say homophobia is a bigger issue than racism in the U.K.

Do you live in the North? From living in Plymouth/Southampton and pretty much everyone at college/uni knowing I'm gay, I can't say I've ever had an issue.

even though it's about the BNP party, it refers to homophobia.

Im from the south but im not out so i cant talk about my general experiences just from what people say etc i get the impression that homophobia is worse than racism here.

*Sigh* Really?
Have you seen how explicit the "straight users" are in every other thread when it comes to women?

The best of luck neoghaleon55, I am absolutely certain you will be more than fine! Please bring us back a lot of pictures and tell us everything! I wish I was as gutsy a you are, I am so shy I would only be extremely awkward meeting anyone.
I'll be watching MLG this weekend and keeping an eye out for you, even though I got absolutely no idea how you look like

So envious, by the way!!!

agreed, it is rather annoying the amount of homophobia even on this website.

I've been browsing that thread for its pure comedy value, I think that I should play up to this "being queer makes me me a sexual predator" narrative and dress like Zoro every time I leave the house.

I know replying "lol" is frowned on, but this post really made me laugh.
On the topic of UK racism/homophobia, I do think racism - err sorry "anti immigration and multi culturalism" - is a more prevelant issue, but there are some extremely dangerous places for openly gay (or trans) people to be in the UK. I won't even enter the town of Milton Keynes for instance as there comes a point when pride and being yourself simply becomes suicidal tendancy.

I've just curious how this thread is perceived in some countries where being gay is not so accepted. Such as the middle east for starts? Does it affect how you feel, or is it more of a governmental thing?

Oh I hear this so loud and clear, I went to my first psych referral and he was like "why don't you dress like a girl if you say you are trans?" What I should have said was that even in andro boy mode I get abuse for being more true to myself, I don't even dare dress like a woman because as you say, its a sure fire way to get beaten or in rare cases, killed. Its just bullshit that every day I walk down the street I have to constantly look around in a paranoia. I'm glad you enjoyed my post though :D

Yeah, for people who have the job of dealing with trans people every day it's amazing how so many of them don't seem to understand the issues. At any rate I'm sorry to hear that and I don't know if it was them but that sounds like typical CHX. Actually it sounds like the usual culprit there but it would seem rude to mention him by name. I actually ended up going to a private option I couldn't afford to avoid that lot. Sometimes it's less abusive to meet a transphobic git than some health care "professionals".
This is going slightly ranty so I'll stop but yes, I agree with your sentiment too.

Oh lol I'm not even at CHX yet, this was my local Pysch to get a referral to CHX, he wasn't so bad, even if lacking in some understanding, I have some hope for the future and being a student I could really use free NHS drugs, but I have a feeling I'm gonna have to fight some gate keeping arseholes. And yeah, at least with people that shout abuse at me while I carry my shopping, I can block those out and just get on my with day. TT

I can't wait for the day when we have characters in TV and movies that are gay or trans but that isn't the focus. It isn't stated. It just kind of happens. Like when characters are black or asian. You know, but they don't have to tell you or make the story about it. That will be a fun time.
