Don't post in this thread to say "gay gamers are like everyone else, why do they have a special thread?" It is something that has been posted numerous times, and this isn't the place for that discussion.

For regular posters, don't quote the trolls.

Ugh, why do gay people always have to be so "misunderstood" and "not belong anywhere" guess what, no one cares, Be gay, that is fine, but flaunting it makes you look pretentious.

How many "straight gamers" threads do you see? Ugh these threads make me rage sooo hard. It seems people who advocate equality subliminally ask for segregation. Just play the game.

Edit: I am not hating on your sexuality, I just hate it when people make threads asking for attention. Seeing as you are a well known person on TL, welcome back, but that is because you are a player, not because you like men.

I hope this doesn't come across as homophobic, but I kind of get irritated when an individual's identity is so closely tied to their sexuality. Like being gay changes everything about who they are and they constantly advertise and refer to the fact that they are gay. Being openly gay/bi is fine, but it shouldn't define a person either.

So much of our culture is focused around your sexuality, how can you not see how dramatically that it would change your life to be gay?

I'll make a brief list of everything that i see that is about heterosexuality, that's thrown in my face all the time:
* guys talking about hot girls
* posters with hot women on them
* baby strollers. they always have a mom and a dad.
* music, always about straight relationships
* movies, always about straight love (seriously, almost every movie has a relationship in it)
* segregated washroom facilities (men / women)
* straight people holding hands. they're everywhere.
* spousal RRSP programs
* clubs / bars
* straight people dancing in clubs

Much of life/culture is focused around finding love/satisfying lust. Not only does the majority of culture not accommodate for my sexuality, but a large part of it disapproves of it.

There's nothing i can say that will give you understanding.

I cannot describe the feeling i get from seeing two guys holding hands in public. It makes me want to holler at the top of my lungs with joy. Yay love, you know?
[/u]

dude i can make a list about everything i see that is not vegetarian or about agnosticism... but i dont make threads about my personal choice...

much of life/culture is focused around eating meat and belief in god... not only the majority of the culture not accommodate for my personal choices, but a large part of it desapproves it...

don't get me wrong i have zero problem about gay ppl, i just don't see the point on making a thread about how different you are, if you want to be treated like a regular person...

I think you made it weird by hiding it to begin with
as a straight guy, I'm more comfortable with the gay guys who are open and blatant about it than the ones who are probably gay but you don't know because they never admit it
When it becomes a secret that is suddenly revealed I think it can suddenly change how you are being perceived which kinda makes it weird

There is a darker side to homosexuality though too isn't there?

Hanging around public toilets waiting for random gay men to have sexual acts with? EG George Michael.

Obviously the threat of AIDS is more of a threat for gay males. In the not so enlightened mid 80's it was actually called the "Gay Plague"

And as male (straight and happily married) I know what a sex mad lot us males are, and if hanging around dirty stinking toilets floats your boat, hey go for it. But the gay communities worldwide are known for how promiscuous they are and not everyone will be super careful or indeed sensible.
Which in my opinion is a cause for concern.

I personally at first didn't think this thread had any place on a gaming forum, however, after reading the the replies I now feel it has sparked some intelligent and lively debate/conversation.

Good luck to you.

Obviously the threat of AIDS is more of a threat for gay males. In the not so enlightened mid 80's it was actually called the "Gay Plague"

In middle ages Gypsies and Jews were blamed for bubonic plague... Why in 80 there was an increased number of AIDS among gays? Well, many of them were junkies, using unclean needles and spreading HIV. As you know, you can get HIV only with blood contact. To get HIV through sex, you need to f**k really really hard(more like a rape), so your partner bleeds "there", be it a woman or a man. So it wasn't the gays in general spreading HIV, but junkies, be it a gay or a straight.

Notice biggest HIV ratio nowadays is in African countries, where gays aren't exactly tolerated, and men are known to be hard on their women. South Africa is reported to have the largest population living with the disease, at well over 5 million people infected(Wikipedia), also it has largest rape count per capita in the world.

As another gay gamer.. I have to say I somewhat disagree with the posts in this thread. Just from reading the first page I think some stereotypes are being re-enforced that frankly sadden me

Couldn't agree more. There are slutty people among gays and among straight. Too bad hypersexual(or slutty) gays are usually "attention whores" and give straight people a picture about gay morale in general. It might vary from country to country, but in swedish gay social network sites people with naked pictures in their profiles are in minority.

That's not a dark side to homosexuality. The same shit happens for heterosexuals too. That has to do with humanity, not a particular gender or sexuality.

Hey mora, i'm 18, gay and im haveing trouble meeting other gay guys!

All of my friends are straight as far as i know and to add to my problem im an athletic and straight acting guy and nothing really "gives away" that i'm gay unless im staring at a hot guy and dont look away until its too late. I literally have no gaydar and cant tell gay from straight unless its like some flamboyant person (and fem types really turn me off) I would hitup the club/bar scene but i don't have any gay/bi mates to go with!. I've hooked up a few times off craigslist lol cant say im proud but hey i was horny. Seriously how do i break into it? And what if i want a boyfriend? i kinda like that idea, but i wont find boyfriend material on the scene im guessing as thats all just 1 night stands . Anyways thankyou for reading/answering =]

May I humbly suggest sites like match.com? The membership is extremely cheap for finding love. My mom found her new husband through there and lots of members.

-____-

Anal Sex - Receiving provides the highest chance of acquiring HIV.

Your argument of Africa? Developing nations are ALWAYS noted for their high likelihood of disease. Less condom use, rape (as you've said), and probably a lot more....you know...SEX in general. I figure that would make sense.

Now look in a developed nations contraction rates?
They are most assuredly higher in gays than in hetero.

And anyway, I would suggest you leave the thread as I am doing.
=(

And Mora, I'm glad everything turned out good in that frightening situation. (Old blog.)
Maybe I could teach Osama that using a plane as a wraith or dropship would be 10x better than using it as a scourge..... ^^; -Flex

Where I live homosexuals are waaaaay more 'in your face' about those things than straight people. To a point where you are equally likely to see a gay / straight couple kissing in the street. And there is nothing wrong with that. Actually very few people here bother at all.
So just sayin: for whatever reason, be it religion, way of life, sexual identity or whatnot - you can always move to where you can openly be who you are. there is a place to feel at home for everyone somewhere IMO.

From what I've seen and experienced gay guys tend to be more slutty than heterosexuals. It's still not correct for me to say this because It's my own opinion and it isn't based on factual evidence.

So if you have some factual evidence to support YOUR claim I'd like to hear about it.

I need to provide you with factual evidence to prove that gays are also normal people? My claim is based on lifelong experience as a part of actual gay culture. Your statement is based on what you've heard gay people SAY and antiquated stereotypes.

You and your growing horde of homos on TL should put yourselves good use - campaigning against all these idiot nerds everywhere who call everything they don't like gay and everyone they don't like a faggot. Pathetically limited vocabulary aside, it makes you wonder if they ever even considered the fact that not only do those words not apply in the context, but that they're offensive.

Actually, I've seen studies about lifetime number of sexual partners pointing towards homosexuals being more promiscuous (than heterosexuals). I'm not going to try and link to anything though, because google is just clogged with christian propaganda bullshit about gays.

I have no doubt that there are gays who are perfectly conservative sexually, but there is definitely a difference in sexual partners between homo/heterosexuals. Meh, I'm not saying I look down on it or anything, so no one take this post incorrectly.

The study to which you are referring to is 20 years old and proved that homosexuals were more promiscuous because they felt they had no chance of maintaining an actual relationship due to public stigmas and taboo's around homosexuality.

Perhaps straight people should consider for one moment that it has always been you that have made it hard for gay people to maintain relationships. When, even 15 years ago, being in a public gay relationship could easily lead to being beat or killed, it only seems natural that gays have had trouble maintaining relationships does it not?

Put yourself in the shoes of a dude who loves the cock. With all the cultural stigma attached, and the miscellaneous shit they've taken from people over the years. And now you're at a point where you've found a peer group who actually fit your personality, and you are learning to get over all the nonsense that's been heaped on you personally and culturally about homosexuality - and you decide "hey I think it's kinda fun to be just as much a horn dog as all the breeders!". The in your face argument is a bunk cop out. The thing you fail to acknowledge is that straight behaviour is also extremely IN YOUR FACE hollering at the top of your lungs I AM STRAIGHT.

I better go out and tell all the black kids to stop wearing Sean John and stop listening to rap, and tell all the Mexicans to stop ... driving low riders (fuck I don't know) ... because hey...

YOUR CULTURAL, SEXUAL AND PERSONAL IDENTITY IS SO FOREIGN TO ME THAT I TAKE OFFENCE AT BEING FORCED TO COEXIST WITH IT!

So it wasn't the gays in general spreading HIV, but junkies, be it a gay or a straight.

Also you've got to keep in mind that STDs in general were so rare decades ago. Back in the early 70s there was.... syphilis? Were there any other prominent sexual diseases? To quote Austin Powers, "As long as people are still engaging in unprotected sex with multiple anonymous partners in a consequence-free environment..." STDs weren't a huge threat back then. People weren't prepared for it.

And then obviously condom use was pretty new too. Initially condoms were seen as "uncool", and let's be frank, sex feels better without one. And as far as gays were concerned, they can't get pregnant... so... why even bother with condoms in the first place?

Notice biggest HIV ratio nowadays is in African countries, where gays aren't exactly tolerated, and men are known to be hard on their women. South Africa is reported to have the largest population living with the disease, at well over 5 million people infected(Wikipedia), also it has largest rape count per capita in the world.

The situation in South Africa is a nightmare at the moment. Plenty of superstition abounds about the evils of contraception/condoms, and the church preaches abstinence to a country with the highest rape rate in the world. The infrastructure in South Africa is harsh on the poor as well. Jobs are not located anywhere near villages or rural towns. Men usually leave home for months at a time to travel to far off cities or factories to work. While they're there, they have sex with prostitutes. Disease spreads quickly, and when these newly infected men go home, they infect their wives. Let's face it, consensual sex is more or less a myth for the poorer classes of SA, and these newly infected wives then give birth to infected children. It's a really messed up cycle.
I admire your commitment to being *very* oily
