Don't post in this thread to say "gay gamers are like everyone else, why do they have a special thread?" It is something that has been posted numerous times, and this isn't the place for that discussion.
For regular posters, don't quote the trolls. |

Your phobia is something you will probably have to tackle yourself. For the longest time I disliked gay people, I called things gay that or gay this, and I still do sometimes but in a more ironic way. I didn't come to terms with it till I realized that I, myself, liked men. Not to say this is what will happen to you - not at all - I just think you are going to have to figure it out yourself. I'm not sure there is anything I, or anyone else, could type to make you feel differently.
You're just going to think about why, did your parents have an issue with homosexuals, or maybe you had friends who happened to like gay bashing? No one knows but you. Maybe one day you will find someone who changes your opinion, but I'm not sure we can do that over the internet.
Honestly no, it's pretty much been my own opinion with no influences. If it's the case that this is a social club of some sort, then I won't post here anymore. The issue was raised before which lead me to believe this thread was something it wasn't, and if it's not that then I apologize.

Your post seems polite, and I am trying really hard to understand what you are trying to say, but I just don't get it.
Are you trying to say that my posts, like the one you quoted, are too sexually charged and too forward about homosexuality and it's sexual connotations? And then saying that is wrong because it puts a bad note forward to homophobes who come into the thread and are trying to get a better idea of homosexuality and get a more logical grasp on it?
If so, then my response is that this thread is not for people who are not gay to come in and barrage us with questions, with the same old arguments and intolerance. While you are unique in realizing your feelings are irrational and I sincerely appreciate your attempt at making yourself less homophobic, that still isnt the point of this thread. This thread is for gay starcraft players and team liquid forum browsers to get together and talk freely and openly about their sexuality and gaming in the context of said sexual preference. I don't mind answering the odd question (especially if I get to use biology words) or helping someone understand where we are coming from, but I kind of feel assaulted and offended that you, an admittedly heterosexual, homophobic male felt the urge to come in here and try to redefine the entire point and purpose of this thread.
If I got this all wrong, sorry to come off as an ass there and please elaborate so I can more thoroughly understand what you are trying to say.

"Gay men still look at me like they think I'm gay". Makes you sound a bit paranoid . I need a philosiraptor "how does one look at you as though you're gay". Seriously though at the end of the day, if you are not gay and guys hit on you, thank them for the compliment, and lay some truth on them
Yeah my bad is the language barrier lol it wasnt meant to come out that way. What i meant is that they stare and sometimes even ask friends of mine if im gay, it has happened to me 3 times

Read the post above yours. I saw various discussions occurring which lead me to believe that this may be a place to try and find some logical conversation which would make sense to me and make me less homophobic if it was possible. By what you and GDR posted I see it isn't that, more a social club/gathering, and I therefore apologize for posting anything at all. I'm not going to actively seek help in the matter, so this thread was a convenient chance to try given that there seemed to be some discussion on it. Anyway, sorry for any offence, won't be posting again. Gl hf.

We should get a bunch of people together from this thread and play something together sometime... would be pretty interesting.

4v4 all random where the idea is to get someone to call us gay.

That actually sounds like it would be pretty fun.

I actually don't get the purpose of this thread. How is it important what sexual preferences you have? We all play and like starcraft. we are into starcraft. who cares if you are into men or women. I don't and it does not make a difference to me. However, I always feel a bit weirded out, if groups are formed, so for instance gay ppl can be mainly among other gays. Any focus on this is wrong imo.
|
This thread seems to be another attention seeking avenue for the queer community. Whilst I am cool with the whole gay thing, I disapprove of constantly trying to get attention. Be yourself, love whoever your dating and enjoy life.

chris, do you tend to hang out with people similar to yourself when you want to have a good time?
gays (for the most part) share a common experience or at least similar experiences that allows them to bond easier and feel more comfortable around themselves. Just because you don't want to be a member of the club, doesn't mean its existence should offend you,

How is it wrong for people with similar interests to want to meet and do stuff together. If you don't agree with it you don't need to open the thread or post in it. Pretty simple. And for the record, I'm more into DotA than i am SC. Just sayin.

This thread desperately needs some sort of glossary or FAQ at the beginning so we can moderate the constant repetition of these silly question . Or we need the regulars to become verified pink posters (like the blue posters in strategy) so I can skip over them lol.

I don't know if Mora looks at the thread much anymore, but if he does I'd be willing to help look through all the pages to help consolidate some of the FAQ's. Unless a Mod wants to add all of it to the OP.
I think something needs to be done about all the people coming in and just posting stuff like:

We are not spreading rainbows all over TL.

I'm down I'll PM you my character code if you want. I'm always up for fun like this, its nice to get out of the closet once and awhile.
And Axero, its just a time when some of my Korean friends lined up and slapped the ass of one of their (my) friends who managed 100% on his math provincial. Supposedly this was a reoccurring thing for them. I didn't get involved I just of stood their and laughed. Not that funny really! I just find it funny, because they are all straight-shooters (at least most had girl friends) as far as I know. I had more then a few occasions where I thought to ask one or two of them, but I never did, as they where my only real life friends who also watched StarCraft.
Man, now that I look back at school. I knew a lot of Koreans. My odds where pretty good if I asked all of them. Now I'm regretful!
I have a way worst story where I once thought a (my best) friend saw my 'material'. When I questioned, discreetly, he said he didn't see anything but I'm still skeptical. That was some scary stuff, but looking back (to two weeks ago, haha) it gives me a giggle.

I'll be up for it whenever I get a new computer. Currently on an old Gateway (6-7yrs old) because the motherboard on my other one overheated. This one can't run much of anything.

I recently started hanging out in an obs channel where everyone is really helpful and understanding of SC n00bs like me, but they're constantly going on about this is gay, that is gay, so-and-so plays like a faggot, etc. Normally I have no patience for that crap, but I have decided to stick it out and see if I can get some behaviors to change.
Any suggestions on tactics to take? Right now, I've been combining relentless mocking at times with infrequent gentle reminders that I am in fact gay. But it would be nice to have other ideas, so as to be amusing while reminding people that "gay" is not a generic perjorative.

Walnut Grove (Langley) if you live in BC and no where that is. I'm sure there is plenty. I really haven't gone looking, admittedly. Just fantasies.
