With the end of the Official NE LAN #2 Comes straight out the box the 3rd official NE LAN. Same place at Galaxy Gaming in Dover, NH! We had a blast on August 1st running our first SC2 LAN event there with alphafuzard form TL taking home 90$ for first place and Breaknenter taking 2nd place of 30$ (something like that). This time around we're spicing it up a bit! This will take place August 27th to August 28th a Friday to a Saturday.
This LAN will be an all nighter LAN meaning from times 8PM to 8AM! There will be food and drinks included along with an SC2 tournament among other old school nintendo games XBoX360, PS2/3 games, and much more stuff.
Price is exceptionally higher but totally worth it. It's 40$ for the whole night 10$ going to the prize pool, extra cash going to food and drinks and to the LAN Center as well. Expect a higher prize pool then our previous LAN as well. If you need help paying for the entrance fee PM M155_G33k and hopefully we can work something out
Tournament style will be Round Robin with the top 2 from each group advancing to a bracket stage style of BO3's double elimination.
I will update with more info later as the date approaches a long with a player list of tentative and confirmed.+ Show Spoiler [location] +
Who - G2 What - SC2 LAN Tournament Where - 63 3rd Street Dover, NH (will post some landmarks so you don't miss it.)
The LAN Center is under a restuarant called "Weekies Pizza" or something like that next to some railroad tracks, Brown building. Park anywhere and follow the fence on the left and go down the hill G2 is on you're right.
Very easy to miss if you haven't been there before.
I am really young / don't want to drive / am underage / don't want to party. Should I come? Yes. I am bad at StarCraft. Should I come? Yes. I don't know many people from the TL community / am really shy. Should I come? Yes. Can I bring a friend? Yes. I have a really cute Asian girlfriend / sister / friend. Should I bring her? Yes. I am free to come, but for the above reasons I will pretend to be busy. Will I be banned from TeamLiquid? Yes.
You MAY(dont have to) bring your own PC it worked very well last LAN there is A LOT of space to play.

Find a LAN shop that will host it, work out the details of the tourn (cost, time frame, bracket style, prize pool, etc), schedule it, advertise (in a dif thread), and run it. Then complain about it not being in Boston. I know Adrenaline did some extra foot work to get the first one going, but don't be hating just because it's not super local. I drove just over an hour for this and it was a blast.
I know if none of these get going before Adrenaline takes his trip, I'll be helping out for future LANs, but that is for a dif thread or PM.

its like 1hr 30 min drive from newton... Aaand we had to pick some1 up in medford too, so it might have even been shorter, so its not taking that much time out of your day...

also gL finding a good LAN center in boston i heard a lot of em are closed down this is like the only one in NH thats decent, and its actually a really nice place.
edit: a lot of people from mass came up from this such as breaknenter and barbsq
As of right now, list me as tentative. Some stuff is happening around the end of August that I might be obligated to be a part of. I'll post here when I know for sure.
Thanks again for getting another one of these LANs up so soon!
...and for those that live in the Boston area and aren't sure about making the trip - it's worth it. Honestly, just hanging with people who are just as crazy about SC2 as you is worth making the trip alone. Everyone is friendly and well-mannered and there is a nice range of skill levels and races to play with. Plus, this is a 12 hour event! It's not like you're coming only for 30 minutes!

You live in Newton? So do I, I might show up for this next one.
I probably wont stay allnight but I'll deffintly be helping to set up
Edit: ok so last time since I bought pizza for everyone twice and that was my donation to the Lan. This time, food is provided so instead I'm Donating to the pool. I'm going to be putting in a $100 donation into it so that more ppl will want to show up ^_^ haha

Comon Jeremy! This won't make M155_G33k very happy.
it's a Obligatory LAN FAQ i have to post it!
Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuure, likely excuse. :p
Oh please like I would really care lol When we go to the water park tomorrow I already told him hes can check out girls all he wants. Like me saying not to would really stop him LOL and it is not obligatory its mandatory LAN FAQ. Everyone knows that!!
The $125 was pretty sexy of them for the first tourney, considering it was 18 people. I wonder if we could get any input form the local area. Maybe from Weeksies upstairs? They do get good business from these events.
Oh trust me, I'll show if I get the money, I'm a bit broke right now :/
The $40 covers the LAN, food, and tourney? It seems a bit hefty.
Yes, the 40 covers the food playing and the tourney. If there is any problems with paying, Pm me ad we will see what we can do.

That's a really good idea. I'm going to call them and see what they think tonight. I'll also look at the ice cream place by there because I've seen a lot of people go there after a LAN. I'll probably check out some other places too.

$40 for 12hours access to SC2 and any game in the place plus food, drink, and a competition with a prize? I'd say that's a good deal considering a normal all nighter is $40 by itself with no prizes being afforded.
uh, so it seems my bro (alphafuzard) may or may not be coming (put under tentative i guess), since he has soccer tryouts that weekend or something, but i plan on going
does he have the day of the LAN? like the saturday? cuz i can see what he means, i mean he can show up and leave like at 4-5AM if he wants to get some sleep or he can sleep in a chair at G2 xD
G2 has reduced they're hours to only Fri-Sun. This is because one of the employees, Joe, was in a serious accident and is in critical condition down in Boston. The LAN is still going on as scheduled, per the owner.
The reason we have changed our hours is do to a tragic accident to one of our favorite people Joe DeVore. We are not sure when Joe will return to G2 but our prayers are with him and his family.
i might go its just that the overnight thing means ill have to take both days off from work basically, and 12 hours is kind of a long time for those that might get bumped out of the tournament early and have to sit around until morning

Not to mention if you bring your own rig you can play the other guys that have been knocked out or against one of the guys waiting for his next match.
You do not have to bring your own comp. If you intend on playing a lot of SC2 I would suggest it, though the comps they have there are very nice for playing. If your friends are coming to watch, I'm not sure if they would have to pay, but I wouldn't want to stay for a long time if all I got to do was watch and do nothing else.
On August 16 2010 16:20 LazyMacro wrote: Put me down as tentative. I still need to get the night off from work (which shouldn't be a problem but you never know).
I have a couple questions:
Can I bring friends that just want to watch? A couple friends said they'd want to go and watch but not if they have to pay.
Do you have to bring your own computer? Or is that just a recommendation?
hmmm patrick want to email sean about spectators and see if they can't get in for a cheaper price i guess?

Shoutout to whoever is in Medford.
I'm near Medford Square :D
Anyway, I'm hoping to come. Checking the schedule and will report back.

Yes pls and thank you.
Vids from first tourn will be up this afternoon. Looks like I made some of them just a few seconds too long and youtube didn't like it.
That's sad... well at least I may not get booted from the tourney so early this time. In other news, your match against him on Metalopolis (game 2) has been added to the playlist.
Sorry joe is out of icu and in his own room. I was there on Monday and he's talking and understanding what we say. He's also joking around and remembers things so that is great news.
On August 20 2010 06:06 dreadl0000rd wrote: How can you have people spend 40$ to enter and only 10 goes towards a prize pool.....30$ for every person to help pay for food? Even if you manage to sucker 20 people into going to this, thats 600$ that you would spend on food for everyone and to the LAN center? Sorry but no one is going to show up for for a tourney to make what, 60$ when the LAN center could pull in a potential half grand. Good job on trying to scam your entries man, big ups.
I'm gonna play a game of number with you and you see if you can follow along. Game play(access to all systems) = $6/hr or $25/5hr Party is 12 hours, so let's go with the cheapest of the two giving us $62/12hr instead of $72/hr (I really don't have to go past this)
Pizza = $12/lg Drinks = $1.25/ea Tourney buy-in $10 (out of the $40) So say you eat a whole pizza (1 topping) in the 12hr period and maybe 4 drinks for a total of $27
So by the way, you didn't place in the tourney, so you ended up spending $89
LAN overnighter = $40 I want you to tell me how the hell saving $49 on a fun night is a scam.
What im getting at is, not everyone that shows up to this, is gonna wanna spend the whole day there. Most people when they are knocked out of a tourney, tend to save the rest of the hours of daylight, to navigate there way home. So for the people who JUST show for the tourney, they're forced to spend 40$, when 10 of it goes to the pot.
Valid point. But your original post came off as blasting the tourney as a whole. Personally, if I was only coming for the tourney, I would wait for the next daytime one was to play in.
Last Bliss vs Breaknenter match is up. The guy weeding through the replays is taking his sweet ass time, so I'll be doing the 3rd place matches as well as some 2nd place matches tonight on my stream.
The 3rd place matches will be up within the hour, but I was looking at the 1st place matches.. Why are there only 2 files between the two players? Did you forget to send me them all Bliss? 3rd place matchup
I'll send an email tomorrow morning Lazy, ive been busy :o
also the tournament style is going to be round robin for max games for everyone even if knocked out early. and theres also other games to play other then sc2, and you can eat/drink and you can spectate the rest of the tournament which is always fun and chat with fellow nerds, theres more then enough to do after your out of the tournament.
also again if you need help with the cost please PM M155_G33k and we can work something out
Since this is an all night lan anyone who is going to stay will need to pay. I will be the only one there working so knowing everyone has paid and don't have to worry about who did and who didn't is easier to manage.
Sorry but with everything going on I don't want to make it harder than I have to.
I have a cute non Asian girlfriend, but I'm not so sure she'd be keen to pay 40 bucks to watch a bunch of nerds play sc2 all night when she can do that at home for free =]

Stick with me kid, we'll fight the sleep together. I'll be waking up at 4:45a to get to work, do a full day, watch my daughter til her bedtime and then make my way to Dover. I'm contemplating bringing my coffee pot...

Woo I'll be heading down there around 4-5pm to get warmed up and some practice games in. You'll know its be because i'll be wearing my team AoV shirt (the team that im apart of)
Hi, this is ogndrahcir (Richard Ngo backwards btw), and I was just wondering if I'd be allowed to play on the computers at G2, but bring my laptop just in case I don't like the feel of them (cause my computer is kinda slow when I play).
Hey can we show up a bit early for this? im going to the poker hall at dover bowl at six and if i get knocked out early (cuz im just freerolling in to start my awesome night off early) I would like to just show up after im out, so like between 7-8ish ok?

Yes, you can. A couple of people did that last time with no problem.

Bliss and I will probably be there around 7 to get things going smoothly. You can hang out no problem. Specially since you have a lot of games to chose from for Xbox, PS2, and n64 ^_^
Hopefully everyone will read this before they show up, but as you have seen in the thread, I do commentary and will be streaming some of the event. In the opening rounds, if you have a game you want casted, save it (don't tell me who wins) so that I can put it up for you when I get time do everything. If you are going to use one of the G2 computers, see if you can set up an account so that your files are backed up. That way, it will be easier to grab those games at the end.
Sorry for being last minute but unfortunately I will not be able to participate tonight. Have tons of fun (I'm sure you all will) and good luck to the participants! Looking forward to the results, pictures, and casts!
Hey guys, someone should like msg blizzard support and ask when patch 1.1 will be implimented... im kind of scared tonight is going to get ruined with a patch.

Alright, I'm gonna start rendering the semi/3rd/1st place vids so I can post them up for you. I got all of Bitters games, but if any of you guys have other replays from the tourn you would like casted, send them to drogith@yahoo.com. Don't let me know who wins, just let me know if it was a round robin match or if it was Ro16/8/etc... Bliss, I need your semi final matchups with DamnCats.

Well, I basically know who has won what, you know, being there and all XD, but when sending replays it's a good habit not to divulge that info, or so i have found.

Hey to someone that works at G2, I have a quick question. What exactly did you guys do to connect my computer to the internet? Cause I've been connecting to my router, and it says that I have internet, but when I try to go online, I can't access anything. I have to connect using an ethernet cable. Was it something you guys did, cause you guys had to change some of the settings or something, right?
Nobody on here works for G2, but I gave missgeek a call to see what she did to my comp. All they did was give it a static Ip as opposed to searching for one. Easy fix: contorl panel>internet connections>properties choose the TCP/IP option and do properties obtain IP address automatically obtain DNS server address automatically
I had to restart after that, but I'm on.
BTW, the 3rd place and 1st place matches are loading onto youtube right now. Once they are there I will add them to the playlist so they can be played all at once. If you guys want to catch any of the other games that are either cast or need to be, sub me so you get the updates when I finish them. I decided to put them in the que with all the other stuff I have.
