If you're on the player list and you don't sign in by 12:00 we will be forced to give your spot to a door sign up so that we can get the tournament started.Door sign ups will only be able to join the tournament if someone of the initial tournament flakes or drops out. ie: if person A in the copper/silver sc2 tournament drops then a door sign up will get the spot on a first come first serve basis. this is the only way a door sign up will get into any of the tournaments because of the number of people that have signed up. ALSO: I called everyone that has signed up yesterday. i have secured us special discount pricing for bringing in a group the venue fee will be 15 dollars per person there will also be a tournament fee of 3 dollars per tournament you enter so that the prize money is actually substantial, and so i don't go broke
dinner is 24.95 per adult, so unless you're really short and young looking that's the price for tatami. * note tatami is an all you can eat buffet: they have sushi, king crab legs and a plethora of good food.
There will be a BW tournament (fun), SC2 Tournament (copper-silver league), and another SC2 Tournament (Gold-Platinum). [$THERE WILL BE A CASH PRIZE$]

I'm doing the map pool for the SC:BW Tourney, and I just wanted to see what you guys wanted to play on. So far I have the map pool as:
Fighting Spirit, Match Point, New Heartbreak Ridge, Destination, Outsider SE, Blue Storm 1.2, Neo Moon Glaive
They are all fairly new and fairly popular. Would anybody be interested in playing on some older maps like Sin Peaks of Baekdu, Ride of Valkyries, Neo Requiem maybe?

I also might be going with g5 since he lives super close to me and I've hung out with him before so he takes up a big spot due to his size! Do we have any general info yet on how the tournaments are gonna be? and are they going to run concurrently or one after the other? Also, euphnet is a relatively small place, if the number of people going gets too big, we might not be able to keep everyone in there >_>.

One possibility for 2v2 is to take the top 8 of 1v1s and create teams. For example, number 1 and number 8 is one team, number 2 and number 7 is another team, etc. -- then do a round robin with the 4 teams.
Have HD commentate...... it'll be for kicks and will be fun to watch.

@moony yeah I know, that was really meant as a warning to everyone in case anyone is a little claustrophobic.
Also, if anyone is picky about their keyboard/mice/headset I suggest bringing your own. The logitech keyboard and m500 mouse are pretty lacking.

Agreed -- if there's enough 2v2 teams, having established teams is infinitely better.
Just tossing out the option of the top 8 doing a 2v2 (maybe for an additional prize) if not enough ppl come for 2v2s.
I really enjoy watching 2v2s and hope that it can happen ...

I'm sure there will be interest in 2v2s, and if people don't have a friend coming with them they can just look for a partner in this thread or something.
Obviously Shusaku and JessicaJung are gonna want to enter the 2v2 tournament together, and with what looks like a healthy turnout I'd expect for there to be more than 8 people that want to 2v2 anyway.

currently 40 ppl have signed up. though i dont know who are going to be flakes and who's actually going to come. can only see on that day. however i am making a spread sheet and will probably next week or prior to the lan date put up a bracket of some kind.
after i do the 1v1 brackets i might do a 2v2 bracket and put an additional signup form for 2v2
also, there are quite a few people who didn't put the phone numbers when filling out the form nor did you put your email. if you did i am excluding you from the brackets because i have no way of contacting you to confirm that you are indeed coming.

Sc2 is on all of the comps. After logging in to the machine, you can choose to run Sc2 with their account or use your own.
I'm not sure about the registry changes though :/. The mice, keyboards, and pads there are pretty bad though, so I would make sure to bring your own.

well, it starts at 11:30. Google says it takes about an hour to get there. We should give at least a half hour leeway because it looks like none of us know the area at all... so say 10 o clock at the latest. We could also start out earlier, if it works better with the busses, or if we want to pick up some food before the tournament starts.
The best place to wait would be at the gas station at that intersection, but if you aren't there at exactly the meetup time that might be, uh, kind of horrible. There are some grocery stores and restaurants nearby where you could probably find a bench, would be nicer.

EDIT: Oh, and we might get through the bridge for free due to carpooling... would bring it down to like 3 bucks each for gas.

I have a some people from both Berkeley and the bay area who want to come but unfortunately sign ups are closed for the tournament can't we recreate brackets when we get there? Granted we have to verify what league they are in/want to play. Or can you extending the deadline for the tournament I think you would get more people. At least 4 that I know and it's 2 weeks from now so..just a thought my friends really wanna play

never said i didnt want to play, i just wanted to say that the BO3 thing sounds like it would take way too long. ~15 mins per game, almost 1 hour for 1 stage.round of 16 to round of 4 is gonna take 2 hours+ depending on games. +the fact that most people in lans dont cheese unless theyre really gay. im sure multiple people are participating in 2 tourneys which i think is impossible to do with bo3. its fine if you think that bo3 is the best way to do it, but just my opinion lol.

Euphnet is split into "rooms," so what we can do is simply have it so if you're playing against each other, you can't be in the same "room" so we can minimize cheating.

@Moony So Ginseng brought up a point that I never really got an answer from you: Euphnet requires you to have an account to access the computers. Are we literally going to have them make new accounts for everyone? Because having one guy make 50+ accounts adds up, and we'd need to get everyone there really early, or start the actual games later. It makes me feel sad for the person in charge there and everyone who will have to wait lolol.

Count me out... I want to go but I don't have any trust in battle.nets reliability today. I've been playing games since patch 13 that have been so difficult to play with lag (if its even playable at all). It's really not even fun knowing that the game might end at any moment.
I would definitely come to a LAN again though, probably best once the game is released.

Well I havn't tried bnet yet today but based on what people are saying I thought it hasnt improved since last night. I know last night a good 25 - 50% of my games were ended by one of the players being dropped, and if it wasn't ended that way it had alot of "waiting for players" during the match but fortunately had them so far apart that the timer didn't actually go down

Hey guys. Just wanted to let everyone know I had a great time. Loved meeting everyone super cool people. Shoutout to Alex (HD) for the amazing shoutcasting teamwork action. I really hope we can get together and ACTUALLY play a LAN tournament sometime really soon. I'm going to get in touch with moony and see if we can set something up and try and make it an even larger tourney. I also think we should combine the two different tournaments to create a much larger prize pool. I'm pretty sure any future silver or platinum players in the upcoming weeks with any aspirations to get better would still enter the tourney. This would draw more people as I don't think the turnout matched the listed participants.
Eliminate the SC:BW tourney entirely or move it to a different date. Having all 3 of those tournaments together on the same day just made things wayyyy too hectic, especially with the unexpected BNET issues. Anyways great times regardless.
Watching the OSL Games with everyone was epic.

Oh, and guess what? The problem everyone was having has to do with them enabling UDP. You have to make sure your firewall has SC2 set as an exception. I just did it and it fixed everything =\

Hey guys, moony here. We had a great turnout yesterday, even though battle.net took a shit on us.
It was really fun regardless i believe. Meeting people with the same interests is always awesome. I want to give a shoutout to alex, hdsc, and taylor, painuser, for being fun and helpful as well as a shoutout to noel; noelhomes, mark; plaguuuu; and anthony; gotosleep, for helping me organize the event and especially anthony for providing that awesome copper/silver commentated match. it pretty much made my day.
like i said guys, im sorry it kind of went to shit, but i hope you guys understand i couldn't have realy done anything, cept maybe if you guys pooled for a plane ticket to irvine i could've punched some of those blizz guys.
I will definetly try to get another event goin, possibly with some help this time, haha. anyways, thanks again to all that showed up, it's you guys that make these events fun and worthwhile.

My roommate & I definitely have intentions of going to BlizzCon, however making actual plans & arrangements before getting tickets is a bit short-sighted I think. With how fast tickets sell out (11 seconds last year), you really don't know who is going until people actually have their tickets secured.
Too bad there isn't a big StarLeague final during BlizzCon this year, the TL party last year was pretty damn fun.
As for the July 31st LAN, I'll be there for sure.
