Come July of this Summer I, Mack Flinn, will be hosting a multi-gaming (BW, Counter-Strike, WC3 etc.) LAN party, sponsored by The American Dream Team (TAD) and our lead sponsor... Revolution PC. My team is entirely U.S. based and located all around the country, but I have decided to host the first LAN on the east coast. Travel expenses will not be paid for, but prize money and possibly top of the line gaming products will be awarded to the finalists!
Q- What is TAD, and why are they hosting a LAN?
A- TAD, also known as The American Dream Team, is a recently formed team of talented U.S. based gamers from around the country. Our team is comprised of divisions in Starcraft, Counter-Strike, and soon to be Starcraft II and World of Warcraft. Our team mission is to get e-Sports in the United States more recognized and popular. Hosting a LAN is one of the ways we can achieve that goal. We also plan to do host other events in the near future such as team trips to WCG and/or Blizzcon and additional LAN's.
Q- Is this LAN open to anyone, or just the TAD team?
A- This LAN is absolutely open to anyone and everyone that wants to attend! The more people that come, the better! Details on additional games played will be discussed soon, but as of now Starcraft: Brood War is the main game that's going to be played at this particular LAN.
Buy in: 20$ at the time of entry (for tournament participants only), plus usage fee (usually 2$ per hour, very cheap)
I hope to see a lot of people attend this fun filled event! Speaking from experience of attending other LAN's, they are tons of fun for everyone, no matter your skill level! If you plan on attending, but not sure, reply as "tentative" or something of that sort. If you are coming for sure because you know how much this LAN will kick ass, then reply as "coming for sure because this LAN will kick ass" or something of that sort;)
See you all there! I will keep the lists updated every day.
Not it doesn't all i know is they have been terrible with previous lans. Even though they have a nice facility, their management has just been terrible. Pm lf for details lol

I assume this is a direct message to anyone from the PA/Jersey area? :D
I will also be willing to take 1 additional passenger. I am coming from Ohio, so anyone on the way from here just let me know if you need a ride and a little gas money would also help;)
Added pictures from Revoltion's Warzone LAN building. It is a very nice facility located in nicholasville, KY. Keep in mind voting will be open until May 15th!
man Mack I just double checked and I'm registered to play in a golf event at the army navy CC on July 10th. what a ridiculously shitty coincidence I'm only playing in 2 state semi-amateur events all year this and then one in August (Saturday August 7th). I got a free ride to play (coach exemption) it's like $400+ value... I have no chance to win (don't play enough I only practice twice a week) but it's free golf at a really nice private club.
fukkkk my life WHYYY. (I'm good every other day in July but don't change the date just cuz of me do what's best for u and everyone else)
keep me tentative at least cuz it's in the morning so I should be able to drop by in the afternoon at least or meet up with u guys if you go to dinner somewhere. :/

Date officially changed to Saturday, July 17th since I just picked a random date... I hope this doesn't interfere with anyone else's schedules, but I love my robert so he comes first<3
How would a CS tournament work. Deathmatch? Thats the only game of the three I'll be competitive in haha. Tentative for sure though until further notice/ride can be solved.
I'm not coordinating the CS tournament portion, you'd have to talk to TAD[tofu] about that one, since he plays CS, but i'm sure there will be something worked out
Edit: what other games will be played? I wasn't able to find the full list. Perhaps some Savage 2? I'm terrible at that game, but it's great fun. CS:source?

The list is at the top of the topic in parenthesis. Mainly only BW and CS: Source will be played... I am not sure what all games they have installed on their computer's there... but if I get enough requests to play a certain game I'll be sure to call them and ask if they can install it, or we can.

Ah ok. I saw the etc... and assumed there were other games being played.
hey, before you guys try and set up a major LAN thing, I just got back from the Orlando FL meetup at UCF and we had some SERIOUS problems. The most serious one was that apparently blizzard seems to have implemented some kind of area cap where there cant be more than like 16 people sharing the same connection. We used a workaround website that simulated running our connections through proxies but it was still a major inconvenience. This is for SC2, SC1 is obviously still LANable.

Well the lan center is in k-town, im sure there is more than one place nearby lol And its pretty unanimous that the place is kick ass, and I want another reason to go eat and drink soju ^_^
Okay, so I might have a crappy job that pays enough lined up, so I'm about 65/35 now vs the 35/65 it was before. 3FFA, if I go, I might be able to give you a ride (though I might just take AMTRAK or something).
mack in addition to the buy in what prizes are you gonna have for bw. are any of tad sponsors doing anything? I'd really have to practice hardcore for this if we're going with a $20 buy in rofl.

yes, in ADDITION to the cash prize from the buy in's, I am working on getting something nice lined up for the winner (possibly even 2nd place), but this is still in the works as I am still talking with our head sponsor about it...
Be warned: this is the most absolutely disgusting LAN Center you may ever see. Seriously. It's like crawling inside a giant smoker's mouth - leftover food particles included.

Hey, people had the option of choosing a nicer LAN center, and yet the still chose this one haha! So there must be SOME reason people keep wanting to go back to this smoker's haven... i'm guessing the main reason being that people in DC are too lazy to drive to other places that are nicer and have just as nice food renovations... it's truly a shame.. o well! ;;

just because you wanted to be anti social and sit near the chain smokers vs teamliquid nerds was your problem lol
louder and xeris that day literally sat directly next to a chain smoking dota noob for like 5 hours straight.
edit: to clarify why we (or at least I) keep using this lan center. There are no other lan centers with as many pc's as cheap and as easy to reserve space and in a good location. I also know the owner of the place and he's totally chill. we literally take over the whole place for the bigger lans. many other lan centers are $4-6 an hour for useage fee's, it gets kinda crazy if you're planning to be there for 7-8 hours, that's nearly $50 just to use a computer. I kinda have grown to put up with the conditions of the place, those who smoke bothers them should sit near the front or rear in the non smoking areas.
Don't sit directly in the least ventilated area right next to a chain smoker for 6 hours straight like louder did that day.
I think I sat next to said dota noobs on Saturday, two korean guys to my left smoking, and behind them was that gigantic AC unit, just about the WORST placement for an AC unit and smoking section known to man, my laptop (yes, laptop) still smells of cigarette smoke lol
Isn't smoking supposed to be banned in all public places? It is in Ohio at least lol.. i'm sure we could get it to be smoke free if we petitioned it or something... I mean at least make the smokers leave the building before smoking wouldn't be a huge deal.
I don't think a petition would pass and it would upset a lot of their customers, its just a matter of where you sit tbh. The smoke isn't too bad until someones blowing it directly at you.
maybe put some thing is title so that people know this is dc nova area.(almost all lans have the locations in the title some where, perhaps have a mod at it) because we have alot of regulars but i just discovered this and some people may not even bother to check. You can count me in. look forward to seein all my home boys from nova area. and to all new friends i met at last lan or any previous lans please come, i would love to see every one again.
I know its primarily an SCBW LAN, but I'll participate if there's any SC2 to be had (assuming the beta is back up from the downtime by then, and that people are interested, with or without a tournament.)
Otherwise I might just come to spectate, chill out and take pictures (I got a bitchin camera and am a graphic design/photography student so I try to make the most of it.)
That being said, you can decide whether or not to put me on the attendance list, but I wont be playing any BW

I'm not even going anymore, the main guy who was driving and had all the gear bailed. guess I'm gonna be stuck inside sc'ing all day now what a drag.

I'm curious as to why you aren't hosting this after the sc2 release date. If it's only broodwar I have no real reason to attend since I'm focused on sc2 (and pretty bad at BW to begin with), and I think a lot of people have already switched focus to sc2.

I'm not hosting it after sc2 for a few reasons.
#1 Blizzard says they will re-release beta in late July sometime, which probably means late august sometime.
#2 I am not hosting an sc2 lan because I personally have no interest in sc2 and the majority of players attending this LAN will be veterans of bw, also not really interested in sc2. Not looking to be that great of a game, sorry.

Sorry to be the one to have to say negative things, but my advice would be to actually give reasons instead of arbitrarily picking a price. Also, use the three months to get something concrete set up with your sponsor in the four months you have to organize this, and then post about it. I would also contact Seoul PC and try to get a group discount instead of just paying the standard rate.
The initiative is great, and your enthusiasm is great, but really you should do something to distinguish this LAN from any of the others that are hosted in DC by the usual people. What is different about a LAN "hosted" by you? You haven't worked out a possible prize above what the entrants pay in three months, and there's no discount for going to Seoul PC. I fail to see what is different about a "TAD sponsored" LAN other than the name of the thread. Why is there even a $20 entry fee? Why not $15? Why not no fee?
I just feel that people have been running these DC/Nova LANs and yours seems exactly the same, except people pay an entry fee and its called a TAD LAN. Yes, I know the entry fee goes to prizes, but lots of kids go to LANs just for fun and have no chance of winning. Why should they go to this one and pay $20 for exactly the same experience?

#1, the 20$ buy-in is to make the prize-pool bigger for the participants, thus hopefully increasing the motivation to win games... Also, I have been communicating with our sponsor since the idea for this LAN arose (i.e. 2 months ago). We have been going back and forth about what we are going to offer to the winner/finalists, and that is what sets this LAN apart from the others. On top of that, It's "hosted" by TAD because a few of the team members from TAD orchestrated the LAN and are going to be attending it. Seoul PC does not offer "group discounts". Hope that answers your questions.
HB mentioned some good points but I also need to chip in. There is an overall problem going on here. There is absolutely a lack of identity with this lan. It seems to want to be a competitive lan/tournament with the buy in but so far has a fairly casual (and small) attendance list and not much hype. Also many people are interested in coming but not play in the tournament. More posts in this thread are questions that don't get straight answers or of people saying the buy in is steep than of actual people signing up or how epic this shit is gonna be.
The entry fee is scaring people away from this and it is rather steep especially when you consider PC costs as well for 6-7 hours this will be a combined $35 plus dinner after and that's over $55 for a full experience on lan day. Even for those of us with jobs that's not just loose change I'll find hanging around my desk. You are trying to get a competitive event setup here but it's not working. Why? There are 2 issues I'll just throw out there, this isn't really meant to bash on anything or offend anyone just a few things that are important to keep in mind.
1. It's been months and you can't give specifics on prizes/sponsorship issues.
If you want to host a competitive event these are absolute MUSTS. You're scaring casual users away with the entry fee and the competitive users are looking at this right now and laughing because you can't give straight answers on sponsorship. I've had people tell me they question if TAD even has legit sponsors. If this is meant to be a high profile event you need to leave no questions up in the air. It's been months there really is no excuse here.
Why would a high profile player travel for an event like this? :O
2. Because of issue #1 it's been months and this LAN still doesn't have an identity.
There are so many questions to ask!
Why is TAD doing this? You mention in the original post you are interested in getting e-sports going and to build TAD's brand/image. Scaring 80% of your potential userbase away with a steep buy in isn't going to help anything or increase the TAD image.
An important question one should always ask themselves when planning a lan/event, what do the people want? What would benefit people who are coming to this lan?
TAD is a new team to the bw community. Many players are total unknowns, the TAD name isn't strong enough by itself to draw people. People won't see this thread and say "Hell yeah I love TAD I'm going to this LAN! I need their players autographs!" They will instead see this thread and a steep buy in and not a very solid attendance list and questions left unanswered and say "I'm not going to that lawl." and believe me, I know, they're saying exactly that.
Answer these questions and make sure to keep the users in mind when hosting these lan's, because ultimately it's the users who dictate if it's a successful lan/event or not. Stay away from the arbitrary ultimatums and instead throw up polls and let the people decide. take it from me, I've been hosting successful lan's in the area for 11 months now.

The buy-in is obviously only for the people planning to participate in the actual tournament... if they are just coming to hang out then there's no reason to pay the buy-in, only the usage if they use a computer... The "steep" buy in of 20$ hasn't even been complained about, and it was put in place to motivate the participants to try harder to win, thus increasing the earnings of the winner. As I stated in my response to Hot_Bid, our sponsor is cohesive to the number of people going to the LAN and wants to wait a little bit until it unvails the prizes. TAD is a fairly reputable team with some known gamers, especially for being a new team. I don't feel the buy-in is steep, and there have been very few complaints about it actually. I will not change it unless I feel the need. Thanks.
If the buy-in is only for the tournament, then I might drop by ~3 PM to give LuckyFool some pro advice, play some games with people who got knocked out of the tournament and just to eat some BBQ later with the crowd and meet some of these TAD guys (who are apparently very good unknowns )
If someone needs a ride back to bethesda/rockville/silver spring area after the LAN, I can give you a ride also

None of our good players can make it, since they must travel too far.. at the moment the only people from TAD coming are the leaders/managers (myself, tofucake and caucasianasian). No gosu's sorry :D

tossim will be there for sure i bet
tossim needs to clarify in this thread then, and LF is not in TAD by choice.

I still don't understand why there must be an entry fee. If people show up and don't pay the $20 it's not like you can kick them out of the LAN, and nobody is going to pay $20 to just play 1 bo3 with someone who rapes them when they can show up, not pay the $20, and do that anyway.

The entry fee stands for all tournament participants, including myself. Nobody is going to kick anyone out... If you don't like it don't play in the tournament for the prizes, it's that simple. lol

is it just a day thing? just like i drive there early morning come back late at night?
that's really up to you... if you wanted to come the night before you might be able to stay at someone's house. Depending on how far away you live that might be a good idea because with the LAN and the dinner afterwards it usually runs pretty late.
AKA everyone pays 20 dollars, and TAD[Life] collects a nice % of it and puts the rest as either prize money saying Revolution PC sponsored that prize, or he keeps ALL the money, and Revolution PC Sponsor has w/e as prize o.O =o am i right ?

yes I'm keeping all of the money and the prizes. Have fun though!
It was supposed to be a surprise but I guess your stalker research earned u some brownie points... There will be PROBABLY be TAD-brand T-shirts for the participants yes!
The way it will work is the top 4 get one first (if they want one) then I'll have to think of some other way to give them away for the rest of the people that want them. There will be around 10 shirts to give away total... so they are of course limited supply, and TAD brand.
Again, if you are still on the tentative list, please try to confirm yourself soon so I can get a better idea of how many people are coming! It will also allow you to call off work for that day or weekend.
I meant if the beta is up. Despite wild speculation nobody truly knows when the beta will be up or down or whatever prior to launch. If its up, I'll gladly play. If not, I'll just chill out.
This LAN is also now being promoted/sponsored by CPU magazine. There will be an ad in the upcoming addition of their magazine promoting our LAN! Click the link below to sign up for a complimentary 6 free issues of CPU magazine.
Been really busy so haven't had time to wade through the ten pages of thread here, but count me in for this LAN! Unless something really weird happens I should be able to come since I'm back in D.C. :D Is this one LAN going to have CS / SC / whatever all in the same day, and is there any tentative guesstimate at the current prize? Btw, if anyone could give me a ride from Bethesda MD I would greatly appreciate it (or if anyone can pick me up from red line metro in northern virginia )
Btw, it would be really great if you can reserve the whole place and also make sure no chain-smoking That I would say was probably the biggest negative thing about the last time.

There is no smoking allowed indoors supposdely. Either way we are going to try to have CS played also, yes in the same building.. Not sure if there will be a tournament set up for that though. My main focus will be BW. I can't give an accurate estimate of the prize pool because I don't know how many people will be participating.. but hopefully a lot!
Don't forget to call off work 1-2 days guys (2 if you're traveling from afar)! The tentative list is still too big... if you are on it please try to confirm!
BIIIIGGGGGGG Thanks going out to our head sponsor Revolution PC!!! After recently talking with their manager, he has confirmed the T-shirts (mind you they costed him 600$ to make and we're getting them for free!) and some other very nice prizes (over $1,000 put into prizes offered from them!), either some Razor mamba mice or a nice computer for the winner. REMEMBER, prizes are only offered to the participants. If there are left over T-shirts for non-participants (probably won't be there's only 9 to give away) then we will find out a way to get rid of the rest
SEE YOU ALL THERE, AGAIN PLEASE GET OFF THE TENTATIVE LIST! IT'S GOING TO BE BIG!!
make sure to have reminders ready to go to send out en masse via pm. Something that rapes other lans is ppl simply forget, especially ones that have like 4months of planning. some of the confirm list could have confirmed in April or some shit.
ya confirm me. Btw how did you go about getting so many sponsors? Just wanted to know I also might be trying to get some LANs on the west coast to be sponsored.

It's take a lot of time and even more patience. Just have to look hard and make a lot of business phone calls, and then hope that they're interested
Ah. I see lastshadow is coming!!! hahaha :D Btw, is the main tourney still gonna be BW? SC2 beta will be back out but likely will be buggy/glitchy like what happened at a big LAN in sunnyvale california. Yeah I don't see us getting a full tourny of sc2 going... especially with the state it will be in.. just not worth it.
Who's Deja? Shall i mark you down as confirmed? :o

I'm pretty new to the TL community and I only really play SC2 (played SC1 but that was like 7 years ago), but mark me down as coming would be cool to meet some fellow gamers.
guys i need some help, i got 1000.00 dollars and traying to get a decent laptop any tips thanks or links for the laptop <3 guys hope to see you at the lan
Dunno! Anyway, It's a bit late, but I'm 100% confirmed for this. I have 2 seats available for people who need rides. South of Philadelphia and roughly on my way down to the LAN. I'm not going to drive out of King of Prussia or anything to pick people up. I will go to 30th Street Station in Philadelphia, though. So, if you can make it there, I can give a ride to people even if they are from NYC.

Rob or Chris or whomever brings their camera's to shoot video, make sure it has good lighting because last time rob uploaded the videos they were just about as useful as an audio commentary lol. If that's still the case we'll have to shoot the interviews outside before it gets dark!

If I'm driving up to North Jersey to get Geno I expect a pair of TAD pants in addition to the shirt. Hopefully he can get a train part/all the way down here.

So I am looking at coming to this, but I wanted to hear more details about the non-Tournament stuff. I was a C- player (at my meager peak) so I will get rolled hardcore and am interested at the possibility of BW LAN and other things.
There hasn't been an update yet, so I figured the prompting might help.
Also, would anyone wanna carpool up from mid-VA? I live halfway between Charlottesville and Richmond, so I can be flexible on how I get up there?

What other GAMING besides the tourny will be going on? I mean, I heard something about a LAN, and does PC revolution have TF2? CS? I mean, I want to BW, but I pretty much have been exclusively on SC2 and will quickly tire of getting rolled by better nerds than I.
I'd say you can put me down as tentative, and wanting to go, its just a 2 hour drive and such.
Pretty sure there won't be TF2 or CS and thank god.
There may be an unofficial SC2 tournament without prizes, just for bragging rights, but that's up to the organizers. Nothing is stopping people from playing SC2 alongside SCBW if they get knocked out.

If tofucake wants to organize a CS tournament then there will be one. Other than that, as sadistx said, there may be an sc2 tournament for those who want to play it that are not involved with the BW tournament (for fun, no prizes involved besides bragging rights). And it's Revolution PC, not PC revolution lol and they don't "have" the games, they are only sponsoring the LAN, the LAN site (seoul PC) would have the games, and no they don't have TF2.
Let me be clear on this point... the 20$ buy in is ONLY for BW tournament participants. If you want to be eligible for any prizes you must pay it.
Still coming if CAsian or someone else is willing to give me a ride. Not participating in the tournament, but will play SC2 on the side and be walking the perimeter with camera in hand.
And yeah, I wouldn't bother with other games. Its a Starcraft LAN, not a gaming LAN. Occasionally I can be found playing TF2 or CS or League of Legends or whatever as well but I wouldn't go to a Starcraft-specific tournament to do that.

You're in China. Shh. Also, my car is tentatively full. I've got 3 seats + bitch, and the 2 are definitely full. Another is probably full, and even bitch is possibly full.
tad[pole] and TAD[Genuine], and maybe another person. My other friend canceled, so at the very least the bitch seat is open. But I'm still not driving to China to pick you up.
I live in Centreville, VA. If any of you guys who need a ride live close to there let me know. Also, is anyone other than myself only interested in SC2 and not playing in the BW tourney? I just want to know if I will have some people to play with
ya if we get 16 players for the tourny that would be a success at this point. I can look at the confirmed list and be able to tell whos gonna be playing and who isn't in the tourny.
there will be alot of ppl coming def but player list not as clear. hopefully its alot
Hey Mike you think you'll be going to this thing? I was gonna buy your dinner last time because of how many times you've given me rides now haha but I forgot... come to this thing so I can pay you back! :D
and I'll be playing... hopefully we can get at least 16 :O
I'm broke as a joke but I could scrounge up $20 for some hold'em if people wanted to- probably for an after party, I imagine, not at the center itself. I also have a poker set I can bring if nobody else has any chips. I know Caucasian Asian plays, too, but no idea if he wants to.
also do prizes go to 1st 2nd and 3rd?? or just to 1st... im assuming cash pool goes to 1st - 3rd, and PC goes to 1st, keyboard and mouse set goes to 2nd... lol just trying to make sure dont mean to be a douche

The keyboard and mouse set was decided by our sponsors to not be sent because they couldn't afford that along with the PC and T-shirts

I should have enough chips, but whatever works. Though I'm wondering whether I'll even have the money to buy-in on it at this point because money has been ultra tight but I'll bring them one way or the other.

Idk but I personally won't be organizing an sc2 tournament so you guys will have to figure that one out... I believe Luckyfool had a small sc2 tournament there a couple months ago... perhaps he can assist you guys.
lol it was far from small, 40 ppl showed up to that, easily the biggest lan to date @ seoul. was too big. probably just a taste of whats to come if I plan some Sc2 events in the near future after release.
I'll have to set up like a first come first serve signup or have like online QUALIFIERS before lan day to cut it down to like 32 ppl and shit. that would be so epic lmfao. cuz anything like 30+ starts to push it at the lan center.
oh and to answer question about checking with me, I don't really know shit, sc2 was made possible that day by ppl like sadistx who brought sc2 on an external HD and just loaded it quickly. a patch came out like the night before and half the pc's already had an older version of sc2 installed, it was a bit of work but it was going alright till bnet went down midway through the tournament. it was then that I decided to hold off even thinking about an sc2 lan till after release.
Several of the computers already have SC2 on them, in fact I'm sure i'd say 60% of them have it on there, its just probably 25 minutes of patching or something
I'm guessing we'd need to bring the patched version (0.20) to the lan center if we want an SC2 tourny.
Patching from 0.17 is going to be a huge bitch, since not only will they yell at us for downloading so much, we'll also slow down gaming and browsing for everyone else.
lordweird is MIA hatchetwound is busy with work probably, haven't talked to him in a while but he's a D.C lan hero anyways so he might still come (even though he hasn't posted or responded on facebook in a while) duckett+crescentia dunno, hopefully yes. talked to MorningMusume11 last Saturday he said he was coming. no idea about Ranix and co. they haven't posted in here in a while and I haven't talked to them in ages. everyone else I don't really know or looks good. loudog+dejavu definitely coming.
we'll still have over 20 easily which should be nice.
Update im coming for sure ill see you all there tom!!! can't wait look forward to seeing all old friends and meeting any new comers unfortunatly i can't contribute any more than the minimum to the prize pool this time but next lan hopefully 4 Ace's Home Improvement will be able to sponser the next one ^^. Can't wait see ya all tom!
Also, you guys weren't kidding about the smoking. I had to get out of there fast. Also with so few sc2 players and ridiculous lighting (so no quality pictures) I had little to do anyway. Also I'm a fat antisocial basement-dweller so I needed to return to my hole.
"i wanted to find semih after to give him the second place prize. i didn't deserve anything after toying around like that, and having my mechanics fall apart. i should've just played standard, but instead i dicked around. losing cost me my sponsorship, as well as my ability to continue to play sc2, as now i have no computer able to play it. and due to that, my sponsorship will end. never ever should've risked anything, with so much riding on a much needed win at this lan" - words from ls.
conan how did u win this...how. I am jealous u above average wolf. great lan Mack, awesome drama, suspense, probably the best finals of any D.C lan to date. thanks to everyone who planned stuff for this, storr for housing all these nerds and hosting afterparty, anyone who drove in from afar, lou+deja mack+semih was great seeing u all hopefully again sometime. ^_^
Thanks to mack for hosting fun lan. Thanks to storr for letting me crash. And thanks to everyone else for helping me finish my half gallon of wiskey :DDDD
Ok So TAD[nniilf] Semih and Loudog and his buddy can go fuck themselves
They ditched dejavu at my house, stole some booze, trashed my computer. Deja now has to take a bus back to his place, and spend $100 on the ticket just to get home now. The bus takes 15 hours instead of a 6 hour drive. 2 of them ditched the lan center and did not pay, suppy had to pay for them. (i did manage to get them to pay suppy back what he paid, still ditching with out paying so bm)
Did they really do that? Yeah, I did have to pay for them. Who woulda thought that someone would just jam out of the LAN center without paying. Are they really just trying to save a little money? $2 an hour, I mean come on :/
I thought TAD[nnilf] seemed pretty cool during the LAN but hmm... I mean were they still drunk or something?

yea, no joke man. I'm stuck here at storr's house until like 830 tonight, and then i have to take a 15 hour bus ride home. they lied to storr's dad too, telling him at like 11AM they were going to leave in a few hours... nope! they left before noon. semih and mack and loudog... who does this sort of shit?
im curious as to what bullshit excuse they are going to use to try to defend stranding someone 400 miles from home. should be interesting in a few hours when they finally get home and see this/respond.

loudog seems awesome from his posts in sc2gg's forum
TL community is gay plain and simple.
Sent and Storr, don't make me pull a Chris Brown on your tiny Rihanna asses.
Dear TL.Net
Your 100 lbs power hungry, ban happy admins, seeking "E-Blood" says long lonely nights. Your community is trash and what keeps normal people coming back is how hilarious it is when kids you know had to be losers in High School and College, think their the shit because they have 10,000 posts on TL. Other than your seemingly endless list of Terran and Zerg userstreams, the site is an ugly waste of cyberspace. So to sum this up, TL admins and users, have manner because you never know who will show up at a LAN to kick your scrawny ass.
I simply don't post there, why? Because I can't stand little girly snot nosed brats being rude to nice people. So me, I'm not bitching, I'm voicing the fact that TL community is a bunch of girly bitches who just cry about this and cry about that.
That's all TL is, one huge nerdy popularity contest. Who can become known and who IS known, and if your not known, then piss on you, because I have 10,000 posts. And what they fail to realize is, the second they step out of there moutain dew filthy room and go out, they're the ones getting socially eaten up, because no one cares how many posts you have on the internet, they dont care you get 1k viewers on your livestream.. They just see a little pansy kid sitting in the corner.
Storr you need to read. I didn't get banned. Nor will I ever. just the little pansies that run TL whine and bitch about everything like little girls and it's annoying. Hence why I don't go there.

Don't like my thread? Suck my dick.
did he fight any1 like he promised at this LAN?
Yeah, Loudog is a complete faggot. I've pretty much always hated him. I'm really surprised Semih did this, though.
creating a good rep for the clan i see, seriously this is just such a fucking dick-move to pull off. not only ditching the lan without paying but leaving someone behind that far from home? wow, just wow.
honestly i dont believe they take tad seriously anyway they are pretty shitty. what gets me is how they left someone during a road trip, now thats fucked up, since the whole point of the lan is to have fun and just chill with other players. Now kids happy as fuck they got away with something like not paying a fucking $2/hr fee. Are you serious?
LS got his money, but apparently the guy had a hard time giving it to him.
they admitted to wanting to stack the bracketts so all the good players would face LS in the ro8/ro4, and try to knock him out with cheese before semih got to him.
and when semih lost, i guess nnilf started acting really bad manner towards LS.

but mac (tad[nnilf]) seemed like a nice guy, got the lan together and got the prizes out, and im really impressed with the computer, huge prize for a dc lan. conan is happy with it as well haha. dunno why all the hate.
thanks for the effort! great lan
he ditched out on dinner, stuck someone with a $22 bill and check the other thread
also if your talking about the aftermath please post here
I never saw a good terran play in real life before (EXCEPT ROB, LOL), so after watching lastshadow's mechanics it made me realize how far I'd have to go and how much I'd have to practice.
The finals themselves, bo5 LS vs SW... I can't describe the intensity of the games with just words, but the whole lan was gathered around the 2 pcs of the finalists. LS takes the first 2 games pretty convincingly with 2 port wraith, then switches to R for some reason and gets P, which Suppy readily demolishes after getting good practice ZvP in the earlier stages.
The last 2 games were an Effort vs Flash comeback. 2 port wraith failed this time around as Suppy went for ultra fast 2 hatch lurker and LS didn't have the time to transition from 2 port and was unable to do enough damage against the incoming forces. Still, he held on long enough (until his main was mined out) and then got simply overrun.
Game 5...LS decides to play standard, Suppy goes 9 pool speed into 2 hatch muta. LS' bunker gets destroyed by a small positioning mistake, and he has to go overboard with turrets to defend against incoming muta. Still, the natural is so delayed that LS can't move out and misses the crucial 3-1 timing. He manages to break out one time before being pushed back by defiler/lurk.
Everyone is watching in disbelief. LS ggs. Suppy takes home the gold, Effort wins his airplane.
This is truly awful I would never have expected something like this to happen at one of these lans...
Makes me glad I wasn't there since I had work. Would have been fun to see lastshadow again tho heh

Not hatting on sc2gg or anything, but i came to tl first. and joined sc2gg several months latter (hell check my join dates lol). I enjoy both communities though
Hating* But yeah, I really wish I woulda went from MN to Chicago to hook up with Lou and take the trip down there. I think we all would've had a much better time if I was down there.
I heard a confrontation recording on the sc2gg ventrilo server between storr and loudog, and i just heard storr's father justly pissed off at those fuckheads. They didn't just show disrespect to people their own age, they showed disrespect to a man at least 20 years their senior (i'm assuming give or take a few years, storr). That gets my blood boiling.
"We gave you, hospitality at our house and i'm pretty pissed that you left someone here. We gave you nice hospitality, and that was not the right thing to do to leave someone here."
Loudogs response: "Hey i didn't drive, it wasn't my idea, i didn't have any control over it."
When storr informs him on his status (banned), he responds: "i'm a banned from a website...i'm heartbroken."
Interesting coming from someone who has, or rather, had a post count of 759 on sc2gg. 758 of those posts were about terran imbalance at high level play. Oh, that reminds me: it is nice to see that even E ranks were allowed to participate. Was it just loudog or were there others? Given i already hated loudog for a while, and violent threats mean very little on a forum, i'm going to save space and just say that it's a good thing i didn't go to this lan.
On the other side i'm sure storr and deja would've enjoyed my company
I'm glad that this issue is resolved Now I guess back on subject, I saw Rob taking video, do you have some? And Nokarot when did you leave, if you've got more pictures it'd be sick
I tried to get some but with the lighting it was impossible to get them at the quality I desired without using flash, which of course would have been ultra distracting
Hey everyone. I left before the finals because I had to meet some buddies in Arlington but I was the guy in the blue polo playin sc2. The LAN center was pretty nice and I think it will be great for SC2 tournies in the future. Sucks to hear about the stuff that went on after I left, hopefully that doesn't affect TL being able to use that center again. I watched the Zerg player who beat Slimpower in the semi's (Sorry forget names) and he played really well. Anyways thanks for hosting and will probly see you guys again, hopefully next time all on SC2
Yeah def Crunk this was a hardcore bw event but in the future I'll be organizing starcraft 2 stuff (after release) so just be on the lookout, glad you were able to come and had a good time.
btw I'll be uploading the few vids I took later tonight or tomorrow mainly just got footage of LS vs Semih cuz I figured that was gonna be the most intense matchup of the tournament... I took some early footage of games 1 and 2 of the finals but put everything away before the end so I got nothing after... and I never did interviews or anything... Maybe I'll bring the camera to dinner next week and do a joint interview with u and LS (since LS is coming to dinner this week hehe)
hey I just got home. safe and sound, if ridiculously tired. so, funny greyhound story to put a crap cherry on top of a shitty last 24 hours. Not only did I get ditched at DC, I got ditched by the greyhound bus at a meal stop. wooooot! the lazy ass driver stopped at midway travel plaza on I-76 near pittsburgh at 12:34 (yea thats how closely I remember this) and said we should be back by 1:00. Well, the travel plaza only had a starbucks open so a few of us went over to the gas station right next door to grab some food. we come out at 12:42 and the god damn bus is gone, stranding 3 of us at this bus station/travel plaza place. The driver didn't do a headcount or even freaking walk up and down the aisle to see that there were 3 seats with bags and no people. the one guy inside the travel plaza said this same driver left people at the same travel plaza like 2 weeks ago. how does he still have a job??
we call the greyhound people and apparently their communication systems are so retardedly outdated they can't transfer us to the pittsburgh terminal, can't transfer us to the DC terminal, can't contact the driver, and can't call anyone on their own. they give us different numbers for the pittsburgh terminals and NOT A SINGLE extension there had a person at the end of it. just 20 rings over and over again. we end up just waiting till 4:00 in the morning and jumped on the next greyhound bus (where the new dumbass driver tried to tell us it was our fault the first bus left without us).
So, finally we get to the pittsburgh greyhound station where we find most of our bags. MOST. The ones that were there were just sitting on the sidewalk, completely untended or whatever. Thankfully, my laptop bag was there (although my laptop now has a brand new shiny dent in the corner of it), but my bag of clothes and toiletries and meds was gone. This other guy's bag of clothes and the engagement ring he just bought for his girlfriend in Atlantic City was missing, too. This guy works for some music/entertainment company in Nashville, and apparently he's going to get his company lawyer to sue greyhound. Yay, looks like I get to have an adventure with the legal system soon.
From what I hear, they were already banned and won't see this and I don't care if I get warned for this or something but...
Nice to hear you got home in one piece dejavu (eventhough most things went wrong that weekend) atleast you werent alone on the bus so you had people to bitch with, that can be really fucking helpful sometimes.
Lol Jesus. The greatest joy in the world is knowing that kids will always be kids, and that it is a force greater than karma that will fuck them for the rest of their lives (stupidity).
Yep, this is why I stick to meeting up with the people i've gotten to know over the past few months, and only go to LuckyFool's LAN's because he's a baller and knows whats up.
I doub tthey'll warn you or ban you for that, those guys deserve it.

Eah? I had known semih for a few years, loudog for a bout a year an nnilf not so much i guess, just since the last lan in nov. nnilf and semih both stayed at my house in nov, no problems. I mean, just couldn't of seen this coming :S

Maybe it was easier for me to see trouble when the organization of this wasn't too hot for months and months prior to this.
tournament honestly seemed to pick up when a decent prize was announced, just bad organizing i suppose, tournament when run was kinda eah with no real structure, but had some great games at least
Dang, Deja, that really freaking sucks. No one deserves to be treated like that. At least the company's getting sued... we'll have to see what you are going to get out of it. With a bit of luck and a good lawyer, you might even receive something more valuable than whatever you've you lost.
P.S. I told you to come to my LAN party down here in Mexico. It would've been much easier/safer.

yeah seriously... we fooled around and clowned on people, but this is something else especially since from what i gather, there was no beef between anyone prior to this event.
man somone got a picture of my epic proxi 3 gate fail. so bm On a side note. lets put the actions of a few behind us and concentrate on what a great lan this was otherwise.
I got video of u doing epic proxy 3gate it'll be up soon :D
EDIT:
Ok despite all the bullshit that happened around this lan there were actually some fun games played and the actual lan itself wasn't terrible. I took videos during the ro4 of games, some of the vids might be really boring I didnt edit or anything but it'll still be fun at least for the people that were there. Some fun background convos to be heard as well. I'll update this post as the vids upload... + Show Spoiler +
Ok I also didn't get any interviews, I was going to do them after the lan but things got messed up... maybe I'll bring the camera to dinner on Saturday and talk to our not so average wolf on his epic victory and other things...... good idea? yes. ^_^
wolf actually talked me in to comming to dinner on sat so ill prolly be there as well, not that u want to interview me but i will be there for moral support and such!
