Hey guys! Arghmyliver here.

Have you ever wanted to have a mouse cord holder just like the pros, but couldn't justify shelling out cash for what is basically a Y-shaped stick? Is your orphan servant's arm getting tired from holding that cord during long gaming sessions? Now you can make your own incredibly versatile mouse cord holder from the comfort of your own home. Behold!

The Illustrious Duct Tape Mouse Cord Holder (Patent Pending).

Note: Beer and mustard, though recommended, are not required for completion of this project

Though most of you are incredibly intelligent and can probably deduce the entire creation process from this one picture, I will enclose step-by-step instructions here for those who wish to make sure they do this accurately.

Step 1: You will need to assemble the ingredients.

Note: Paintbrush used for interpretive artwork related to your experience.
If you do not wish to be creative, you will NOT need the paintbrush.

Step 2: Tear off two short strips and one longer strip of duct tape like so -

DISCLAIMER: Please ignore the boxers and vase in the background. I am a bad photographer.

Step 3: Fold the longer strip in half lengthwise (hot dog-wise, not hamburger-wise). The goal here is to eliminate any sticky bits that would hamper cord movement. You should end up with two smooth sides -

Step 4: Affix the two remaining strips of duct tape to opposite ends of your smooth strip.

If you brought beer, drink now

You can now affix the completed Mouse Cord Holder to nearly anything slightly higher than the level of your table/desk (like your speaker).

Or even your computer!

I've shown two options here, but the possibilities are almost endless. The device should help channel your cord such that you can freely and smoothly move the mouse without fear of; the cord getting caught, running out of cord length, running into your misplaced cord, etc.

Happy Gaming <3!
|Argh|

P.S. Please note that duct tape can leave residue on surfaces. This can normally be easily removed with something like a rag dampened with warm water, however, use common sense when sticking your Cord Holder on things. I am not liable for damages to your pets, children and/or orphan slaves.

If your computer is on the opposite side of the desk from you just put the mouse cord behind the monitor

This method should give you a little elevation, so the cord isn't dragging on the desk or against the monitor. This way you have a consistent coefficient of friction

Duct tape always wins. If you threw a bear and a roll of Duct tape into a ring, the Duct tape would win hands down.

DIY Bungee sounds a lot cooler if you don't look at which subforum you're in.

Clever, but I think asking for a $20 bungee from a secret santa, sibling, or friend for your birthday, christmas, father's day, anniversary, etc. is really not a big stretch of the wallet. Besides, it's not like they don't last long.

Still, if you wanted to just pass the time, you could get the same results with electrical, strapping, or pretty much any tape, and it'd certainly be a cool emergency fix for a LAN party.

One of the advantages over the bungee is the ability to put it anywhere. Some computer desks have a little cubby the monitor sits in. If you have no room in there for a bungee - you just slap this fix on the wall.

I've always wanted a mouse bungee, and I'm glad I found this. The problem was never buying one/making one though, the problem is I have a wireless mouse.

Thanks for this though. The only issue I might have is switching my mouse between several computers (which I do a lot).

This is awesome! Thanks for the thread, Arghmyliver!

You mention that it can leave residue. I'm currently using my laptop at the dining room table. Do you think the residue will come out of my mom's good tablecloth?

Did this last year with just clear tape :D

Secured wire though so there's some extra, but it doesn't move at all under the tape

If you guys are into DIY type solutions, you may find a really cool use for this:

http://www.instamorph.com/

It's essentially a poor man's 3d printer. Plastic that is moldable and very strong when dried. I have a jar of it at home, haven't used it yet though, just messed around with it. The stuff is very strong, once dried you can drill through it for screws, etc.

Duct Tape is a bit much though leaves a ton of residue if you don't get it right on the first try.
