As quite a few people have already mentioned the fix for this was definitely switch to windowed full screen. SC2 minimizes and maximises like you're just alt tabbing between 2 IE windows. I know a nice shiny new i7 CPU would improve ingame performance but honestly, I play the game at 1921x1200 at Ultra Settings and don't get any stuttering aside from when you've got something like mothership + 600 units on screen so until I NEED to upgrade this'll do me. For anyone who is having this problem just do as already mentioned and switch to windowed full screen ![]()

Like I said previously, it's a problem with ATI cards, not weak processors, hard drives, lack of ram, type of ram etc. I have the exact same problem, and I dont exactly have a weak PC + Show Spoiler + i7 960 @ 4.2 ghz 12gb g skill ripjaw 1800 mhz Asus P6X58D Premium vertex 2 ssd (where starcraft is installed) sapphire 4gb 5970 toxic @ 950mhz (i used to run the same sytstem in trifire with a 2gb 5870 toxic, and still got the alt tab lag) The solution is also simple. Run the game in windowed full screen. If you do you'll see there is no more delay, alt tabbing is instantaneous. Also if it were a hardware issue (as in weak components), the windowed fullscreen fix wouldnt work, because running in fullscreen is less stressful than windowed fullscreen. I also have an ATI card, with the latest drivers, and alt+tab out of SC2 with no problem. I really think it's the ram, because even on my machine with a 9600gt still had problem's alt+tabbing, and it was also using DDR2 ram.

Running in windowed fullscreen is more stressful than regular fullscreen. So if it was a problem with weak ram, the fix wouldn't work. Also I have 12gb of 1800mhz ddr3 ram. And I get the same problem. Is it because my ram is weak.

I also have this problem and i'm of course running SC2 at the same resolution as my desk. ATI drivers are just fucked up and i don't want to play in Windowed Fullscreen because my comp is already somewhat older and i don't want to throw away FPS just because ATI is to dumb to fix their drivers.
