How important are DPi?

I've got a pretty nice mouse, but it came with the computer, it has adjustable sensibility and that stuff, so it itsnt the worst but probably isn't the best and i want to change it.

My candidates are Deathadderr/chroma, could be cool, i like that it changes colors and 6400 dpi sounds good but it just havs 4 buttoms i think. Then there is the razer naga, with 8400 dpi, and 12 buttoms, i don't play much MMOs, but sometimes i do, i don't think i need the 12 buttoms but the 8400 dpi sounds great. Now, theres the razer naga hex, i would buy it in a beat, 6 extra buttoms, looks cool, but it only has 5600 dpi.... I don't know how good that is? the price between the 3 isn't much different, so i could afford any one. Also if im correct, pro gamers don't use all the dpi cause its tooooo sensible? what do you think? I wouldn't ask but theres no info about the naga hex on the OP, does any of you have it?

When your mouse is set up correctly, DPI is nothing but a measure of sensitivity - and too fast is bad.

Most good mouse players use ~1000dpi on 1080p.

While DPI doesn't matter once you have the right amount for your sensitivity, sensor quality does matter and the only mouse on that list that i would personally consider using would be the deathadder chroma, if the shape was good for me. The sensors in the other ones are usable but they're not good and it's an obvious priority if you care about mouse performance.

Thanks for the answer. I'm looking specifically for razer mouse since i got a friend who sells them new and can get me them fairly cheap. So i've got another question, i saw on the razer store on the US that the taipan is more expensive than the deathadder chroma, however my friend sells me the taipan (new, black) like, 10 dollars cheaper than the death adder.

So my question would be, which one would you recommend? The deathadder chorma has an optical sensor, and the taipan i'm not sure, on some palce i read it has a laser sensor, and on some other i've read it has both laser and optical, even in the official razer page it sometimes says it has a laser sensor and on some places that i has a dual sensor, which one is true? I've heard optical is better even though the technology is older. So which one of those two would you recommend?

EDIT: also, does the new deathadders also have the double click issue?

I think the taipan has had several sensors, the laser one and dual sensor. Neither are as good as any of the recent deathadder revisions

EDIT: also, does the new deathadders also have the double click issue?

affects a lot of mice with bad quality control and probably still deathadder, maybe taipan too i guess

Friend's DA recently died due to double clicks. He's getting a Chroma one as a warranty replacement though so hopefully that lasts for a while longer.

It's the third one my wife uses in less than a year (First time the mouse decided to move around alone so i think sensor was damaged. Sensor died on the second mouse 3month later. Now she received her 3rd (LDLC have good support).) so... we are looking for a replacement one when it will break again (hopefully it won't) but i can't find anymouse that have a similar shape.

I'm not sure with asus mice, they're relatively new to the market but that mice looks like basically a Deathadder reskinned. Take a look at those, even though DA's too aren't known for their durability. For best durability, look at Logitech, although they mostly have palm-gripped mice only. I own a G400s (discontinued I think) and use a claw/fingertip grip and am fine though, but I have fairly big hands.

The DA doesn't have the same grip/shape. (i have one). The strix is really larger.

Looking for a mouse (finally went through my cache of 3 MX518s), not looking for anything super fancy, just whatever is closest to the 518. Wireless would be a nice plus if it's not a huge penalty on performance, as I don't play competitive games much anymore. Looking at the G602 but it seems like it has a few more buttons that I'd prefer, but not a deal breaker. Any suggestions?

the G402 seems to have a similar shape to the mx518, you should check it out. Same thing for the G502, but it's heavier and more expensive for features you probably don't need.

G602 is fine so long as you don't lose the dongle. 500Hz polling rate makes it seem like it's wired anyways and you can use just 1 AA battery to keep it powered. Battery life is amazing at 500Hz. The one I use at work lasted 2 months before it showed a low power warning.

I'm out of touch with the new mice on the market, so if anyone wants to recommend me a new one that'd be great.

Right now using g9x without the grip, good mouse for sc2 but it's not cutting it anymore in arena fps as well as dota, I need more precision at the expense of agility. I think it's too small for fps especially.

Fingertipping right now, but I think I wanna go back to Claw grip for the precision. Palm mice are too slow and big. Deathadder has too much height for me.

Around 1000 dpi (using 800 right now), price isn't a problem. Good sensor absolutely essential.

CM Storm perhaps?

g302 is quite small and still has too low pcs for low sens FPS, but it's alright. I think overall there's a shortage of ~65-90g smallish mice with good sensor. The 402 is nice, but it's too big and heavy at 100g with a lot of static friction and a really big+stiff cable messing up movement

Some fps pros use it though if I recall correctly (notably shroud from cloud9 who uses a pretty low sens, something around 2@400dpi on CS:GO I think) so it must even be suitable for FPS unless you use 1@400 dpi and do crazy sweeps all the time

I've seen plenty of people malfunctioning on the 402 with the gyro turned off and sensor is the same. Very low sens FPS can hit 3-4m/s but this sensor only does about 2.5 flawless iirc

people use even those microsoft mice that do unsmooth 500hz, have laggy clicks and god awful tier PCS

Sure, I meant it's not low to the point where it's a no-go for high-ish level fps, unless you have really low sens. The shell seems pretty great so it's a shame the max tracking speed isn't higher

Logi is of the opinion that sensor quality (and overall features) should correlate with mouse size, sadly

Alright i'm considering g302 considering I play with pretty fast sens (27cm/360), so perhaps the sensor won't screw me over. What about Spawn though?

edit: doing more research I see people recommending Zowie FK1 as well. Thoughts?

I had both spawn and FK1 (current mouse), and both are great; Spawn is easily the best RTS/MOBA/2D stuff mouse I've ever had, but I found the shell uncomfortable when playing FPS (I went back to decent level CS after playing pretty much only sc2/mobas for a long while). The FK1 is great for FPS in my opinion, it's a simple shape, the sensor performs well. The clicks are really stiff however, so they might put you off quite a bit if you are used to omnron switches. I'd definitely recommend it for FPS play if you like simple ambidextrous shapes.

I thought the Spawn was discontinued. Well either way, I can vouch for it, it's a great mouse, very precise, very light, very comfortable. That might be because I'm using Nimix's mouse though. ;D

Indeed, I play mostly SC2 and RTS games and I dabble in the occasional Hawken match, where I like the mouse as well.
