So yeah, there's quite a few topics talking about mice for Starcraft 2, but I haven't quite got the gasp of gaming neccesities for small-handed people.

I'm currently using a generic USB Logitech black mouse and can't entirely make a palm grip, my middle finger is like 0.5 inches ahead of the scroll whell while doing it .. so you can make a guess of the size.

Being too specific:
Hand total lenght: 17cm - 6.69 inches
Middle finger to palm lenght: 8cm - 3.14 inches

I've been interested in some of the Logitech gaming series, like the MX518 and the G5. Not a fan of Razer though, too much breaks and failures from my friends experiences.

Anyways, any feedback would be really appreciated, thanks in advance!

The Razer Salmosa Korean Pro Gamer edition is a perfect mouse for people with small hands. There is the Salmosa and the Korean Pro edition; the korean pro edition is substantially smaller than the regular version. I found mine on ebay for around 23 dollars. I've been using one for the past 6 months with no issues, theres no software to install either which makes for super easy transport. It's really worth looking into, even if you dislike razer products.

Logitech Mini Optical?

I use the standard hand size with this mouse, works pretty well, but i can see it working well for someone who prefers smaller hands as well.

I have a small hand too, and I love my g5. I don't palm it though, I kind of pivot on the heel of my hand and hold it with the tip of my fingers. It's a habit I got from my counterstrike days, needed precision.

Small mouse.

For srs.... http://techreport.com/articles.x/19754

this mouse can probably fit the bill for anyones hand. I cannot comment on the precision or anything like that though.

i use the logitech mini and have what I believe are small-medium size fingers. Been using it for about a year now and couldn't be happier.

The mouse itself is probably a little longer than my middle finger.

Despite testimonials of friends, I really recommend the Razer Abyssus, in conjunction with the correct mousepad it is a beast of a mouse.

Yeah shame you don't like Razer, +2 for the death adder atm. G5 I felt was substantially harder to grip comparatively.

Logitech G9x ? Its the mouse that Fruitdealer and sSKS are using. You can actually also you bigger mice and just adjust your grip. I've seen people use the claw grip and have their hand positioned further back.

One more vote for MX518, it's a really nice mouse. I tried to use Razer Lachesis before this one, but didn't realize how big it was from the pictures. It did have some problems working properly too, so I returned it and got refunded.

Tbh, big or small hand, the mouse size doesn't really matter, unless of course your hand are rediculously small. Like, 5yearold-small. You just have to adjust your grip.

My hands are ½ cm bigger than yours, and I use any mouse without problem. ^^

I use a logitech G9, and it's pretty good, since you can switch between grips, and you can also add weights to it to get the desired weight. One of the grips is small

I had a mx510 before having a G9, G9 is better for me once I got used to it

Speaking as a small handed mouse user(my hands are actually slightly smaller than yours); I very recently switched to the "Razer Abyssus" which is basically a new version of the razer salmosa. I previously had the mx518 but i recently switched cause it was a bit too clunky, the place where im supposed to hold my thumb didn't really fit me, and yes i tried all kinds of grips but i never really got comfortable.

The abyssus is very good for me i get a proper grip on the mouse. Plus i much prefer being having my hand farther down compared to the mx518 which is kinda "tall"
So I HIGHLY recommend the razer abyssus as a small handed player :p another noticeable thing to mention is that the abyssus is cheap compared to other gaming mice.
Razer website
TL Abyssus review (this helped me settle for it :p, and find out that it was basically the salmosa.

I have the same hand length as you do ~17cm and I've been using the mx518 (and it's predecessor the mx500) ever since they were released years ago. The length is fine but I've had friends say that don't like the left to right curvature because they have "narrow" hands.

I'd say go with the 518 unless you can't grip it lengthwise, I happen to have rather wide hands and a thumb which flares outward more than most people.

Another thing is that the 518 (so far) has lasted for close to 5 years now for me I think. It's worked across 5 computers and 2 laptops just using PnP, so maybe that will factor in.

Mx518 is not a good mouse for poeople with small hands. It's one of the bigger mice on the market, and the mousewheel's position require you to have long fingers. I have medium sized hands and found the mouse way too big, currently using a G9x

Razer salmosa and Roccat Kova would be good picks I guess, but genuinely small mice aren't too good if you're a pure palm grip kind of guy.

logitech g9x or g9/ razer abyssus or salmosa. all of these are great small mice. the g9x and g9 are a bit heavier than the razer's. i personally use a logitech g9x due to its solid build design compared to the build design of razer's products. razer makes great mice minus the glossy sides that they give all their new mice. hopefully the razer spectre doesn't have glossy sides but i'm not getting that anyways.

Although it is ment for MMORPGs, the razer naga is really a great mouse given that you have a small hand - it's really, really small.

Same here.

I used to use a Salmosa (well, I used it for a day) and it's so tiny. My hand could never relax so I started having pains in it from day one.

Is the G9X a big improvement from the MX518?

As far as it seems, it looks much "shorter" than the MX518, like you don't have to elevate your palm as much as with the other mouse .. thus making it comfortable.

A lot of people are recommending this, I have medium size hands and the mx518 felt to me as the most absurdly hulk-like peripheral of any sort ever.

I use an LMO now and really like it. I guess one issue is I use finger tip grip. My understanding is these are good for small hands, and I would hazard getting one if my LMO broke, except I don't know how except fly to KOR :/

dont want this to get a new topic, so i stick with this

my hand is rather small too
19 cm long and middlefinger is about 8 cm

today I did some hours of research of what should fit me better

claw or palm grip and so on.
Now I tested the razer abyssus and razer deathadder right in the shop and really cant understand, how small handed ppl say the deathadder should be the way to go.
I had real problems with the backwards movement, when the deathadder hit my palm over and over, so my mousemovement stopped.

on the other hand I had the chance to test the kinzu, too.
it feels pretty equal to the abyssus. I go a step further and would say, the movement seems a little bit more direct than with the abyssus.

They are around the same price, same spec and for smaller hands with a claw grip or anything next to claw grips.

Are there TL reader out here that had the chance to play SCII with both of those mice (kinzu and abyssus)?
I really would love a final hint, what mouse becomes the stronger friend over time.
Yes.

I've recently read something about a new small Zowie mouse.

Zowie Mico

Really cheap, enough dpi (1600 max.), small (!).
But it has only 3 buttons.

thx for the advice, but I dont look for a really small mouse
Its all about a mouse, that wont get blocked by my palm (when moving downside), like the deathadder did.

3 buttons is ok with me. Abyssus and Kinzu have 3 buttons, too.

Did anyone try out both? Kinzu AND Abyssus? And can give some advice?

The Kinzu has some positive acceleration and the Abyssus tends to jitter on quite a few mousepads, but with the right mousepad its close to perfect.
Hmm, mx518 could be too big and may annoy due permanent enabled prediction.
Does the shape of the Logitech g9x fit your hands?
Or maybe a classic WMO 1.1a / Intelli 1.1a? @500hz theyre still good.
The Xai is also pretty usable. (slight accel issues)

thanks for so many interesting statements so far
have to correct me here. I'm a fingertip grip user. I got this whole grip thing a bit wrong before.

I didnt tested the mx518, g9x or intelli mouse yet. I may check them out before ordering.

Some may be interessted in a short Sidewinder X8 Review from a "smaller hand point of view":
Right now I use a sidewinder x8 (over 1 year now)
Some may wonder: "wtf why is he switching from a 1ms wireless 70$ mouse back to a half priced and much older model."
Well in my case I really love all features of the x8. But since I started pushing myself in scII a bit more, I figured, that I get my gear in the way. The x8 is a bit too huge and heavy for me, denying many fast and precise movements. I love huge mice. its great for all-day computer works. you can be really lazy with your hand and lying it down on your mouse.
But when I hit an average of 120 apm, I really feel that the heavy weight leads to LONG ways of speeding down the X8, so I often get trouble with overrunning my target location and need to move back afterwards.. As well as the big size lets me constantly hit my palm, what makes the cursor shaking too..

After reading a lot, as I already mentioned, it come down to the conclusion, that I should go for Abyssus or Kinzu.

Any more comments on those both mice are still very appreciated. :-)

have to correct me here. I'm a fingertip grip user. I got this whole grip thing a bit wrong before.

I didnt tested the mx518, g9x or intelli mouse yet. I may check them out before ordering.

Well in my case I really love all features of the x8. But since I started pushing myself in scII a bit more, I figured, that I get my gear in the way. you could also try a g9x without either grip, my friend takes the grip off my mouse whenever she would use it, and she'd take the weights out as well

I'm about to buy a new mouse.

I'm stuck between Logitech G1 and SS Kinzu.

Which one is better and why.

Thanks :p

I love the G9x with the precision grip (the smaller textured one). I believe it is 108mm in length total. Without either grip its the same size (approx) as my logitech mini.

Both of them (G1 and Kinzu) have a very nice shape for us small-handed users.
I have a Kinzu right now.Bought it because the shape of the Abyssus is rather edgy and it's wider than the kinzu, I did not like that.

I do not experience any problems with control in SC2 even though you can really notice the hard prediction on the mouse(feels weird), the acceleration is also hardly noticeable. But it only works on the polling rate of 125 hz for me, I on 500 and 1000 hz it double-clicks very often.

However, If I would chose between these 2 now, I would go for the G1 because it has no issues with prediction and acceleration and also the mouse buttons are more stable, kinda limited on the sides. 800-1000 dpi is really enough for SC2.

btw, DirtYLOu, where did you find the G1 in and around Poland? I live in Germany and could not find it anywhere aside from Korea through ebay...

Middle Finger : 7cm
Hand Length : 16cm
"Claw Grip"

I've used many different types of mice, (I actually bought them and used them, so if you have small hands and claw grip like me just hear my experience about them)

Razer Lachesis : Just forget it too big if you have small hands, after 20 minutes of 150 apm your hand starts to hurt.

Razer Imperator : Seems to be a fine FPS mouse for small hands since low sens is ok with those games, it's definitely NOT a StarCraft mouse, forget it.

Razer Deathadder : Again, I really don't understand ppl suggesting this mouse for small handed users, its really bad, you accidently click side buttons and stuff when your hand is small and it starts to hurt your hand after 20 minutes of 150 apm.

****Razer Orochi : Yes, this may be the smallest mouse with amazing sensor and dpi options but it's weight really feels alien to my gameplay. The reason is it has a big empty space in it if you don't have batteries inside the mouse. And when you have batteries in it, it becomes absurdly heavy. I mean, may be not heavy as a dumble but the problem about this mouse is it's weight is not homogenically distributed to other parts of the mouse, it feels alien. To this mouse purpose, the alien weight really shows that it is a laptop mouse

*****Razer Abyssus : The mouse I am using right now, definitely amazing for small hands, it's dpi settings are on the mouse so you don't need to install your software to other computers if you are a LAN player or you play at your friend's house a lot. You just carry this mouse and change the dpi. I have a specific dpi and SC2 sensitivity for this. It's very LAN (different computers) friendly.

***Logitech M100 : May be, the best size specs for small hands but it's dpi is relatively low. If there was a mouse with same size specs and improved sensor and good glides for a pro-mouse pad, I would definitely own this mouse to the end of time.

I hope this guide will be useful for hobbit hands and claw grips...

I think I have fairly small hands, and I use the Logitech G500 (previously MX518). Works good with any grip. Though I think I switch grips sometimes without thinking about it.

You should try Roccat Pyra. I got small hands and i find this mouse suiting me very good. I have tried lots of mices and i really mean alot. I think i got 5-6 on the shelf which i dont use mouses like xai, kinzu and ikari.

Why roccat pyra? its total length is 9.5cm and is small. There is back 5 buttons and is ambidextrous. Very fitting for claw grip.

I wouldn't suggest a Deathadder,

My hand is 20cm
Middle finger to palm is 11cm

My Deathadder fits me comfortably, but my girlfriend can't use it, She uses a steelseries xai.

I'm using the Razer Orochi, and I think this is probably one of the best mice I've ever used considering my tiny fingers. I use the palm grip and my fingers don't even go beyond the end, even though the mouse itself is roughly equal or slightly smaller than my palm. The shape of all the Razer mice are actually perfect for a palm grip due to the inward curvature.

I find that smaller mouse where the hand is closer to it's natural open position is better for more long-term playing. There's less pain and I can recover faster after long plays with simple opening and closing hand exercise.

So I use a Logitech wireless optical laptop mouse ("performance laser" --- don't have the name on it but it has lots of programmable buttons including 2 zoom, 2 thumb, 1 top, 1 scrolling tilt) instead of a Microsoft wired optical intellimouse, which is larger and my fingers is relatively more straight than with the smaller mouse.
