Italians aren't a race.

Why the fuck are you all so angry? lol
This is hype that Reynor has this motivation, I love the dude's personality and I welcome him challenging himself to make a good run after his disappointment a year or two ago in GSL

I would love to see that, but it's the most difficult SC2 tournament that there is. Over half of the people who won World Championship tournaments have never won a GSL. That is, PartinG, sOS, Serral, Reynor, and Oliveira have never won a GSL. ByuN has won one world championship and one GSL, while the only two players to have won a world championship and more than one GSL are Dark and Rogue. Even second place in a GSL is a career-defining moment for a large portion of top pros.
I really wish Reynor the best! Winning the most prestigious and difficult tournament in all of SC2 is a lofty goal, but I think that if he applies himself, he is capable of winning it. When he's in practice, Reynor looks as scary as any SC2 player ever-- with some luck and a lot of practice, I bet he can do it!

Over half the people who won a GSL never won a world championship either. But most people who have won GSL have at least participated in several world championships. Serral, Oliviera, and Reynor have either not participated or barely participated in GSL, so that's kind of a bad argument for the difficulty of one tournament over the other.

This would be sick to see attempted, doubly so if Serral tried
Hopefully it happens before the scene declines yet further into

There have been a ton more gsls than world championships. If half of gsl winners can't win a world championship but also half the world champions can't win gsls (while having more chances at winning it), gsl is the harder tournament. At the very least the argument is not nearly as bad as you're making it out to be.

If by "barely participated in GSL", you mean that Reynor got knocked out in the second group stage in the first GSL he participated in, and bombed out of the first group stage of the other GSL he qualified for, you're correct. You're further correct to note that Oliveira bombed out in the first round of the group stage of the GSL the one time he qualified. Serral, on the other hand, has never elected to participate in the most difficult and prestigious SC2 tournament in the world.
By the way, who won both of those GSLs that Reynor was in?

The idea that multiple WC calibre titles winning Reynor, never mind Serral can’t cut it in GSL is beyond fanciful

I never said that Reynor and Serral can't cut it in the GSL. In fact, I said that I think Reynor really has a chance! And for comparison's sake, Maru made the Ro16 when he was 15.
I guess what I'm getting at is that being one of the strongest players of all time (which Reynor undoubtedly is), is not winning a GSL.

Is Maru really that slow now? It's obvious his mechanics have been declining over time, likely due to his shoulder, despite his improvements in other ways but it's still surprising to me to see him called out as a particularly slow player.

"The problem with Protoss players currently is that they play to predictable" Says the guy who threw away a 3-0 lead against Clem in a bo7 finals by doing the exact same thing 7 games in a row^^

GSL just tends to have its own rules. Especially the preparation part changes up things quite a bit compared to a World Championship. And honestly: I'm not sure reynor's style really shines in these scenarios.

Thats a mind game, because Reynor ALWAYS struggle when Maru plays the slow-pace turtling game against him, Reynor wants Maru to push and micro so that he can take advantage of. If Maru play the Clem-style of pushing and fighting, Reynor will have a better chance.

I highly doubt Maru will watch that video or even that someone will tell him that He got a bit slower probably but it’s hard to gauge since the meta hasn’t really favored fast terran these last few years Even Clem had to slow down the game and make ghosts in a lot of TvZ

I think Maru already knew that, Reynor made a similar comment about how Maru only play 2 base all-in or turtling against him during one of the DH tournament. And Maru response was that, he would then turtle even harder against Reynor, lol. The funny thing is, recently Maru hasnt been turtling, but instead doing the more aggressive build with all-in and Reynor has gotten good result against Maru from that.

It was a funny little quip, no need to make it something else It's also a false equivalence. Jokes about a random countries food culture vs (even mildly) racist jokes aren't the same thing.

People forget that Maru and any other GSL champion have spent years competing at it. Put Serral, Reynor or Clem through years in GSL and they will surely win some. As many or Maru, or more? Hard to say. But they would surely win it.
