I think that it's important to keep the scene alive, and we all love the game. I answered 50-99 because I'm willing to have one or two subs for streamers and when the community is driving events and tournaments, the many many hours of content is easily worth what one would otherwise spend on going to the movies or such.

They shoulda been selling Merch in a store either online or on site for 10 years and it would have been enough business to keep things going. League of Legends store in Korea was selling overpriced $100 official merch that everyone was buying. We could have been getting value for our money

I went by the Netflix line of thought. If I'm willing to pay $10/month for Netflix, I'm willing to do that for Starcraft.

I'd pay 20+ a month for something that's provided me great joy and amusement for years. But I'm also a doddering old man in my 30s now with financial stability, so I'm obviously aware that isn't a feasible number for many people.

$200+ with merch. Willing to do 10-15$ a month with no merch. Only interested in supporting the KR scene at this point though especially since ESL is keeping most of the money in the regionals. Not that I blame them for that just a reality that KR players were hurt a lot more by the GSL reduction and need the extra help more. I've contributed to KSL and the warditv KR invitational so far. Hoping some more KR specific crowdfunding will be announced by Afreeca.

I give 10 dollars a month for Tasteosis's Patreon, I'd gladly give another 10 or 15 whatever to a worthy SC 2 related cause though. I'm poor but not that poor.

Zero.
I don't use adblocker when I watch streams or the YT vids.
Really not interested in this trend of monthly subscriptions for an increasing number of things.

depends what kind of esports content. NA or KR id pay a good amount. NA is relevant to me and I wanna see it succeed, and KR has a long history in starcraft so id love to suppor that. dont care much about EU or Asia region though unfortunately and wouldnt pay anything. (but i still love to watch many players serral, showtime, etc not to sound like a hater, wait im actually subbed to both of them so i guess at least $10/month?)

the 22% for nothing shouldnt determine the final verdict... even after the poll closes, please consider the other percentages that people are willing to contribute money, so they can enjoy sc2 content.

When I was an active watcher, I probably would have paid 10€ per month for SC2, atleast for the EU scene.

I used to always buy the GSL tickets, but nothing now. It's more or less over, the scene is a shell of its former glory. It's been such a constant in my life that it's nice to have around still, but its entertainment value isn't anything I'd be willing to pay for at this stage.

Based on the current distribution, the community seems to be willing to pay on average $60 a year (i.e. $5 a month) for SC2 content, so basically a Twitch sub to a channel.

Because sc2 has been a drug for me, it's been distracting me from real life things for 13 years. I feel like a zombie when watching it. I've been trying to get off the hook.
Although it does bring joy and distracts from RL issues at some moments. I just need to minimize the time I spend on it. The same goes for poker content on yt.

I pay 10 a month for the Brood War BSL + some sporadic donations. I watch more SC related content than let's say Netflix or other subscription products. I'll probably start funding more in the future to come for this reason, SC content is important to me.

Zero. Used to be a very active watcher for 10-ish years but I feel like I have seen it all with Sc2, matches, even grand finals, begin to feel repetitive, there is no element of surprise or any particular story line I am interested in anymore.
Maybe something changes my attitude towards Sc2 in the future and reinvigorates my passion, but tbh right now I cannot see what that would be.

I'm paying $50 per month for starcraft content. Most of them have been spent on subscription to the streamers in the scene. Will continue to do that until I go bankrupt

I always use adblocker for everything - ads are a pest to mankind. Ad-ridden content has become so subpar that I'd rather have a paywall to hopefully ensure a minimum quality standard (with news sites and other journalistic content), twitch streamers are a completely different story, though, as most content creation nowadays is so interchangable, uninspired and outright lame (reaction videos) that lots of the people don't deserve money IMHO.

I was fine with paying for GSL seasons back with GomTV, if the content is right I prefer paying over being the product.

I would pay for SC 2.5. The game is too repeatitive even if i probably enjoyed each patch. The heart of the game is still here a bit old but i won t pay for a game which propose (near always) the same build every match up. There s obvious changes which can add freshness and increase re-playability, this money should deserve a better goal.

My man! SC2 is already spoiled enough compared to what BW came through - post KeSPA era, dark ages when expros had their only income from streaming. We're still in very bad spot, ASL being only major tournament after Greedzard cut off KSL 4 years ago. If ASL cuts us off then BW as esports is done.

And I'm not hater of SC2, it's just incredibly sad seeing such competetive games left alone to die.

I'd contribute 200+, but for Broodwar. That's where the future is. Always has been. We got distracted by shiny 3D graphics and smooth pathing. But Broodwar's always been there, supporting us, waiting for us to remember.

I spend a couple hundred dollars a year on SC. My current passion as a viewer is much more for BW, so that's where my money is going. I think that with a scene as small as ours, we have to throw some coin if we want to continue to have good matches to watch.

lol, false equivalence. zero reason to assume the same people who don't want to pay are all shocked or offended about event funding. i couldn't care less - if the events happen i'll watch, if they don't i'll do something else

For me 200+ was easy. I donate and sub to a lot of players. So this would not mean much of a difference to me. And if the 200+ would be essential for tourneys etc. it would be a no brainer, since this is the best game i have played and watched ever.

It is in the context of starcraft fans, if you ask the same question to the general population then 99.9% will answer nothing but this isn't particularly relevant. What is relevant is when you ask the question to people who actually care about watching the events

I do $10 a month for ASL English patreon because I love watching the ASL and having them cast it in English. I watch every ASL game where with SC2 i dont watch most of it apart from some big players in really big tournaments. Home story cup is proberly the other one i would support cos like that tourney, its always fun and cool to see. SC2 has been guttered lately and seems to be going down but broodwar is still going strong and its great, been some great games lately.

Yeah, it depends on what kind of content. Is it TL journalism? is it actual production for tournaments? VOD access? etc etc. Starcraft 1 or 2? I already pay 5 bucks a month for ASL patreon. i used to pay for GOMTV access, so paying for stuff isnt completely alien to me.

I think id pay a premium if it was something really noteworthy, like a American/European LAN for BW.
