My guess is DPG, since Dark is starting military soon, and I guess Serral is the next best thing Would also keep to the theme of the KaiZi vs. DPG rivalry if one has Reynor and the other Serral.
|
DPG might scouted him first I guess. Dark, and then Rogue albeit in just short time span. They managed to assemble two best Zerg players in the world, and now they another best Zerg player into the rooster.

any reason why he would leave? ENCE not paying enough, or just a mutual separation?

Big news. Hope he gets a deal he deserves in the new org.

Move to DPG make sense, as they are about to lose Cure as well, that leave only herO as the Ace. Serral and herO, and another solid player will give DPG more change to win. And if Serral can play in the coming WTL playoff for DPG, then its OVER.

Huh, can't say I saw that one coming.

Idk, but he was the only SC2 player on the roster. Obviously he's Serral so he can prbly take his pick of practice partners but it will be interesting to see how he does if the team who snagged him is more SC2 centered.
We can only hope that he just had so much fun in the WTL 2v2 tourney that he wanted to play a full season and try his hand at GSL to boot.
Can't wait to see where he ends up! Massive sign for any team.

And that's entirely possible, WTL gave teams a grace period until Feb 6th to register new players to compensate for the delay.

According to liquipedia, he signs with team Basilisk. Teammate with trigger now!

Same team as Rotti. :O GL Serral, still gonna cheer for you of course

Does Basilisk allready have 3 players for WTL? I only recall Trigger besides Serral.

Rotti has always been big on supporting the 'mid-tier' (my words) pros who are good but don't get much attention, so I wonder if we get a WTL-ready roster that's Serral + up and comers

Serral was probably very expensive though, who knows how much money is left (Rotti is a big Bunny fan...)

Oh fascinating, Basilisk making a huge move to assert their presence in the scene.
Hopefully this does lead to Serral in playing in WTL, lots of good storylines there.
|
Hope they get one or two great players more...would be kind of sad to finally have Serral in WTL and then he isn't in a competitive team :/
|
Rotti beeing a tease on last nights stream regarding more player/s joining, so who knows

He joined the team as commentator, I think. Like Steadfast as part of PsiStorm Gaming.

Serral in WTL sounds exciting. I hope Basilisk will compete in the tournament.

How is Basilisk in other ventures? are they funded by Saudi money?

Serral + a bunch of the former NV boys would be an instant championship contender, considering DPG will lose Dark in the next season, and possibly Cure sometime this year too.

We have a good idea of lifetime earnings from tournaments for proplayers, does anyone have datapoints or ranges about their salaries as well ? Just curious how much a top SC2 pro commands these days.
|
I think there are videos from back in the beginning days (when huk & stephano were on eg) where it was rumored they made 5 figure bank a month. Nowadays I don't think any player is making that amount of money. Teams will mostly cover traveling expanses and sponsor the gear and give a lower salary (some hundreds to small 4 figure salaries for the top top pros). But that is just speculation.

More than you think is the correct answer.

Thanks for your answer, it feels like you've said too much or not enough Personally, I can't see six figures as viable economically relative to number of eyeballs (in fact it'd be demotivational w.r.t. smaller tournaments prize pools, teams want hungry players). So if it's more than 4 figures it has to be 5, probably low 5 I think the top 8 players deserve every bit of that and more. They are all prodigies and also seasoned veterans with a decade of experience, grind, and passion for the game !

Basilisk founder as well as the cofounder / CTO are here in Katowice so they are real people, for those worried that the team was a scam or something. To the poster above, there was insight on ComebackTV that TL initially asked for 1000€ per day of filming for the documentary on Clem, so they are probably paying him a comfortable salary! Obviously it depends on the teams, but I would expect the ones with other more profitable businesses than just sc2 or even games to pay well (ie. TL with all the LoL hype and other games, Shopify Rebellion with Shopify, Ence with the CS:GO fans, etc.)

Well then go ask them what Serral's salary is!
Would also be interesting if it's like other sports where salary is part base, part bonus

Even after a decade following esport, I still have no idea how the hell esport teams are making any notable money to pay their players without any stadium entry, broadcasting right or share of the events revenues.
Sometime I feel like the whole industry is living off the marketing budget of office chairs companies.

^ So much has always been somewhat of a losing venture, but it's not like billion dollar corporations like Intel, or even Shopify, particularly care.
