AfreecaTV have announced the brackets and schedule for the first GSL tournament of the year: Super Tournament #1. The total prize money has been increased from $25,600 in 2021 to $30,500 in 2022 (the total 2022 prize money for GSL has yet to be revealed). While the first Super Tournament of 2021 awarded GSL Code S seeds to the top four players, no such information has been announced at this time.

Edit: And again with the shitty schedule, if Rogue, Zest or Maru play all the way to the Grand Final of Last Chance, they wont have enough rest for day 1 of the Super Tournament. | ||

Semi finals probably of Rogue vs Maru and Solar/Cure vs Dark. Trap has been slumping so I think it's a fairly reasonable bracket | ||

It's a stretch to say it's unexplainable. Dream beat out Rogue and Cure beat out Maru in the qualifiers so they got better seeding is what appears to have happened. Although it is still a little odd, you would think it would be 1 seed vs 2 seed the whole way so there must be some different seeding going on. | ||

Except that the seeding was supposed to be based on past GSL season record, not the qualifier. Dark Cure and Rogue each won a code S. Trap won 2 Super tournament and a code S 2nd place. Maru got 2nd place in GSL and Super Tournament. Zest got 2nd place in code S, Zoun also got 2 2nd place in ST as well. So the seeding should be split to reflect that. Assuming that all the Ro16 result are following the seeding (higher seed should win), that means you would have in the Ro.8 Rogue-Zest, Maru-Trap, Dark-Dream, Cure-Solar. That left bracket is stacked, while the right bracket is pretty favorable to the higher seeds, not to sneeze on Dream or Solar but they havent done much in GSL last year. To me, this looked like bunch of "voodoo" magic or drawing number from a hat to be honest, almost like no seeding and everything is completely random. | ||

Will Bunny pull another rabbit out of the hat and make a deep run, starting vs Rogue who is probably going to practice hard for Katowice? Tough luck, Armani. Trap has shown great PvP. herO is showing great PvP. Will herO beat Trap in a top level PvP only to get crushed when the match up isn't PvP anymore? Dream and ByuN have both shown good games but with some very questionable positional play in TvT. I guess ByuN will take it in the end. I've seen one great GuMiho game since his return. Dark is showing great games on the regular. Good luck, towel Terran! You'll need it. Solar has a really high floor in his fluctuations. He never really plays badly. Creator has been impressive in the last few games of his I've seen. Most impressed have I been by his PvZ. Solar vs Creator can be amazing. I don't know who I'll think will win there. Cure TvP was great in the latest code S. Zoun is not as impressive. Maybe I'll get surprised. My guess for round 1 is: Zest>Classic Rogue>Bunny Maru>Armani Trap>herO Dream<ByuN Dark>GuMiho Solar=Creator Cure>Zoun Round 2: Zest<Rogue Maru>Trap ByuN<Dark Solar/Creator<Cure Round 3: Rogue>Maru Dark>Cure Round 4: Rogue>Dark | ||
