Update (Mar 1, 2022): Videos for HeroMarine and Lambo added
Update (Jan 16, 2022): A video for Scarlett has been added.
Update (Jan 13, 2022): A video for Astrea has been added. The Signature Series of player profiles videos has returned with Shopify as a sponsor. Originally produced by Blizzard from 2017 to 2018 to highlight BlizzCon participants, Signature Series was discontinued after the 2018 WCS season. Clem and Reynor episodes have been released so far, and it's yet unknown as to what other players will feature in the new, 2021/22 edition of Signature Series.
really nice to get these kinds of humanizing touches for players, and especially to see people competing in a healthy way with supportive families. Makes it a lot easier to like and cheer for people you otherwise only see as faces on a screen or obstacles to your existing faves.
What a beautiful video. Clem is just the sweetest young man. He comes across as a bit shy at first which is such a drastic change from his incredibly confident play style. I am a bit disappointed in myself that I used to dislike his games vs Serral because he had his number for like the entire year of 2020, and all I wanted was for Serral to win. This video has certainly made a Clem fan for life. Thank you so much for bringing this back!
Forgot that Rogue had swept Clem in the ASUS Rog tournament about two months ago. Anywho, what a sweet, sweet watch especially regarding my favorite SC2 player. Really nice touch to feature gros_papa demonstrating the caring & supportive dad he is to Clem.
This content is so good, I am very glad that we have the Signature series back. Thanks Shopify! Clem being the son of a long-term SC2 player and fan is a testament about the legacy and longevity of the game. If e-sports wants to gain the legitimacy and recognition "regular" sports get, this is very important. It is not only about money and viewers.

What if they start doing caster profiles instead 🤔

I am a bit sad that something went wrong with Reynor's. It's as if a part is missing. What is "our group", what is that place? We were just thrown into "this is a wall with names".
I still like these things. The signature series is amazing! Clem and sOs are my top 2 as of now.
I find these so heart warming. It's just great to see these kind people with loving families who have dedicated their lives to this game that we all love so much. I'm looking forward to seeing more.
The signature series is the one thing where E-sport made something totally new that the traditional sports could also benefit from. Maybe traditional sports are "too big" to show off players personal home and family like this but it really adds so much passion, personality and flare to them as sportsmen.
I like how Scarlett's and Astrea's videos where bigger than the players. Astrea's showed how competetiveness is a base that nurtures effort. His dad is just saying "having fun is hard because he wants to comptete and then he gets too good". It also showed that Astrea is generally positive and happy. He seems to have a good balance in life. Scarlett was more about taking a leap and that a great player could come from anywhere. The one year test that her father proposed is a way to plan the leap. For Scarlett it really payed off. Scarlett's video also took some key points from her long career and her feelings about them. Really good content overall.
Seeing the support from families, the hobbies, parts of their regular AFK life etc. is very interesting. Scarlett practicing mandarin, soO just enjoying bike rides and Astrea doing botany are great inclusions in these.
Ah I really like that Lambo video, cool that he's so honest about his mental struggles, I imagine that reflects a lot of players.
Big Gabe's video about what I expected, he seems like a really chill guy. "Because of my massive personality, they're afraid of me..." And with both of those and most of the videos, very nice to see so many supportive families, takes away from the stereotypes about ESPORTS.
I think it's really important for the health of the scene to have "mid-tier" players with unique skillsets and stories. Not only to fill up tournaments or streams, but also just to keep things interesting watching week in and week out. Cheering for the mid-tier can be more rewarding than anything imo, waiting for the "big break" and the better-than-usual performance. And those sorts of players are often the most likeable also.
And who knows, today's mid-tier might just be tomorrow's top-tier? As HeroMarine showed very well this Katowice.
