I haven't posted here, or watched StarCraft in years, stopping somewhere in 2014-2015, but I kept my Team Liquid allegiance in any other e-sport I happened to watch over the years, be it DOTA or CSGO. By chance, I've been randomly watching the latest seasons of Code S and ASL, and have been enoying it. Gotta say though, that Elephant Article was definitely one of the biggest blunders here, adding fuel to the flames of a, at the time, incredibly toxic KESPA vs ESF and BW vs SC2 discussion that would always inevitably pop up in any discussion forums. It's an interesting insight into how people worship their e-sports idols, and basically fan culture in general. The huge idols, almost worshipped like gods, would surely dominate. Of course the truth in all e-sports is that the new generations will always surpass the previous ones, and everything is always in a state of evolution and change. Instead of a positive article about all the new players that would come to our beloved game and all the great games we would get to see, we got a polemic about how everyone's favourite players were shit, the competition was a farce, etc. It's very funny to be honest, how fandoms can thrive on negative emotions.
