The opening round of the Super Tournament delivered a huge upset at first glance, with sOs knocking out his teammate and recent IEM Katowice champion Rogue in a 3-0 sweep. sOs lived up to his reputation as a mad genius, with his Carrier-rush into Adept strategy (yes you read it right) on Industry and Purity being one the highlights of the entire RO16.
Yet, given Rogue's penchant for taking it easy after a big payday, it may not have been the biggest surprise. Additionally, with sOs having shown good form during his quarterfinal run at IEM Katowice, it could be just as indicative of a comeback for the two-time BlizzCon champion.
Otherwise, the favorites prevailed throughout the rest of the RO16 bracket, often winning in clean 3-0 sweeps. Maru vs Stats—one of the more hyped matches of the RO16—unfortunately ended up being a dud, with Maru destroying a lackluster Stats. Instead, soO vs INnoVation (VOD) gets our pick for most entertaining series of the RO16. While it was not exactly a beautiful series—one TL.net user compared it to rams butting heads and the one with the thicker cranium winning—it did feature plenty of battles and wild lead changes.
The remaining Super Tournament schedule is as follows:
Wednesday, Mar 25 8:00am GMT (GMT+00:00): Quarterfinals Saturday, Mar 28 8:00am GMT (GMT+00:00): Semifinals and grand final (top four receive Code S seeds)

Super tournament games feel bit worse than regular GSL seasons, but it makes sense since the tournament is so short. Also it's nice to see that ro8 has 3 terrans, 3 protoss and 2 zergs.
Zest 3 : 2 Trap Trap is good, but Zest is a PvP expert that is on fire right now Dark 2 : 3 sOs Normally I'd say Dark, but after seeing sOs in Ro16 and knowing there's a week to prepare, I think sOs can barely survive. Maru 3 : 1 INnoVation Maru is next level Terran, Innos valient fight won't be enough Cure 1 : 3 Solar Cure is boppin', but Solar will likely come out on top, he's doing really well right now
Zest 2 : 3 sOs On fire PvP expert vs The Madman himself. This will be close, but I think sOs could do it. Maru 2 : 3 Solar This series will be fire and BBQ, but I think Solar can pull an ultimate upset and move on to the finals.
sOs 4 : 2 Solar Solar's ZvZ and ZvT will have looked strong, but ZvP is his weakness and sOs will take full advantage of it.

When was the last time a Protoss (or Terran) defeated two top tier Zergs from Ro8 onward? That's been a seriously hard task over the past year and I'm not sure it ever happened.

It's only a prediction. But if sOs can beat Dark, then Solar would be an easier target. sOs has defeated Solar many times in the past in Bo5-s. The only question is if sOs can defeat Dark, and while the chances seem super low (I think sOs would only beat Dark 8 out of 50 games) I think there's a miracle chance that he can bring some slugfest and sOs magic onto the table and just barely survive and come out on top. He did defeat Rogue, although he is a teammate that also took a break, but still, sOs is looking up to shape right now, so I can only hope.

When Stats won Assembly last summer and before that I think the last time was when Classic made it to the Code S finals against Maru.

Maru vs INno sounds INSANE. If Maru wins imho he gets the throphey, TvT vs INno is the weakest match for Maru and that means it is a 50/50 chance to win.

It's also the two GOATs butting heads. This series surely will determine who is number 1.
