Also, tons of people are voting for avilo just because they want to see him compete in a large event. Some people are just voting for avilo to piss other people off too. Avilo was NEVER in first place. I've been monitoring this poll on average 6-8 times a day. Neeb has always been in the lead since day 1.

You can dislike Avilo for his behaviour or smth, but he is actually the only Terran from USA who got unique & consistent playstyle and is very well known for the community. If you're worried about botting or cheating then, as you clearly wrote yourself, contact Nation Wars team directly.
I think the thread is fine, changes in process dont usually happen unless there is a concern from the community involved. Educating everyone about the flaws of the voting system is important so you can make the decision to contact them directly. Awareness is good
I don't doubt that there's been a lot of cheating in Nation Wars polling particularly around the USA polling which has been the most controversial, and sure avilo's chat might have done so in a systemic manner, but what can you do about it? Unless the organizers already took measures (and even then) there isn't anything to so except live with the results and consider something different in the future.

At least Nathanias is a well-respected member of the community and has done work with Blizzard in the past. Avilo is a complete asshole. Remember the Maria debacle? As an American I want the best players representing my country, but I've just started to vote for the top 3 who aren't Avilo in order to prevent him from getting in and making a mockery of everything.
Hopefully Ogaming can filter out fake votes, they were able to detect botting last time I think.
Regarding voting for avilo, in the end it's a popularity contest sadly. Should people vote for him if they want the US to do well? No of course not, but if they just want drama and entertainment they can.

It's not even botting necessarily--just people voting a bunch of time from different IPs.

Just 'cuz you know how to implement a DDOS or a distributed Bot-net system in theory doesn't mean you can crack a particular type of site in practice. You need probably 35+ successes on sites with easier architecture before you would have the tecnical practice to successfully stage a voting overhaul on nationwars.tv without obvious red flags going up.
The title is misleading and suggest that Avilo is somehow responsible for this. Also, chat logs can be easily faked and is not evidence that vote rigging is take place.

This sounds like a stereotype of Avilo from someone who doesnt really know him. I have watched his stream for an extended period and found him to be a thoughtful and sensitive person.

When i started getting the lead again in votes/upward trend is when people started coming to my chat saying these things, and then this thread was set up, so i don't think you are too far off.
I don't think it will work for them though, most people were already fed up with that reddit witch hunt thread and the negativity against me.

That failed experiment was already done last Nation Wars when Nathanias was on team USA.
avilo is the guy that complains how bullshit that paper can cover rock and how unrealistic it is to have paper win. goes rock, loses to paper, and then complains how dumb it is to have a rock lose to a piece of paper... again... after he knows rock loses to paper. but he markets himself as the best rock NA.
It should be no surprise that an internet poll has been tampered with.
If NationWars really wanted to know which players to invite, they could have put out a regular poll with registered accounts. Instead they made it 1-vote-per-day, which allows for more abuse/manipulation and it does not provide better data at all.
The way they set up this poll is to create hype. And they're getting it. Good on them, I will enjoy the matches, regardless of who's playing

He didn't say everyone, he said everyone in the community. I wouldn't be surprised if there were some overlap between "people who unironically like avilo's stream" and "people who have been banned for balance whine", for instance.
Also you are assuming stream viewers watch a stream because they like it, or because they like the person streaming. The reality is unfortunately a little more counter-intuitive; there are people who watch just to get mad and yell at the TV, as well as there are people who treat it like going to the zoo or "looking at the village idiot and throwing peanuts at him" to borrow TotalBiscuit's apt description of this exact situation.
Think about it, there are people who watch The Room and Birdemic just to laugh at how bad they are.

Well I did learn to pause right before I leave a game. Sometimes you want to signal that you do not respect his win but you do not have the energy to write a proper insult.
I'm selfish in not wanting Avilo in Nation Wars because i want #1 to see good games. Since he is ranked #347 on Aligulac & fails to qualify for any event that is dependent on game play, we won't see any good games from him. #2 being that i'm a citizen of America, i dont want to see a roster spot get wasted on somebody who simply isnt good enough to compete with good players. Who wants to see America lose every series because Avilo is on the team?
Avilo does have every right to try to enter, but I cant help but think he's being selfish here, putting himself over his country. All of this business just reeks of being desperate for attention, its all about Avilo once again... the personality & himself & not about the game or Team America, which imo is what it should be about.
And I'm sorry to say but if the admins at Nation Wars have proof that people are cheating to get Avilo voted in then by all means he should be disqualified from participating in it. Just my 2 cents

I think limiting future player selection pools to the top 5 (by rating) players who sign up might be a good idea just to prevent stupid things like Avilo being in contention (whatever the reason).

Desrow beat Special a few years ago, anything is possible in a Bo1, but Avilo is a few levels lower than even Desrow. At least Desrow had trained in Korea for some amount of time, was on teams, and regularly attended tournaments. Avilo's toxicity keeps every team away, and he only plays in local LAN's.
I thought this thread was about at least one person in avilo chat using VPNs to vote multiple times in the nationwars poll not about how big a troll avilo is or isn't or how good or bad a player he is or isn't *shrug*

Some people don‘t seem to realize the huge difference between a GM player and a real Pro.
Avilo is a good player and some people find his stream very entertaining (not my taste tbh) but without offending anyone, he is probably never gonna take a huge amount of games from any decent foreigner or korean pro.
