GAUNTLET SEASON 3 FORMAT HAS BEEN CHANGED, WE WILL NOT RUN THE REMAINING 10 SEASON EVENTS. We chose this because scheduling has been very difficult, and quite frankly humbling. I plan to release a blog post regarding Gauntlets second year of operation. Basically, it's too ambitious to run an online league spanning months. Gauntlet "Seasons" will be a monthly format once Season 3 has concluded.
Gauntlet StarCraft is back in 2017 with a revamped format for our 3rd Season! We decided to change over to an invite-only format, so that we can focus all of our attention on each individual cast, showcasing each player and putting the spotlight where it should be. With 24 events this season, and maximum of 8 events per player this season, we'll hopefully see a wide variety of both old and new school. Gauntlet Season 3 is not restricted by region, our goal is to have even invites across regions, 1/3 NA, 1/3 EU, and 1/3 KR.
- Two events per week. $75 winner-take-all for each.

- $3,000 total in prizes, $1,800 from the semi weekly events and $1,200 Season Finals!
- New Points system!
- Players can participate in 8 Season events, top 16 in points are invited to the Season Finals!

$1,200 Season Finals Format
Season 3 Finals will be a 16 player, single elimination tournament, played out over two days, played out June 24-25. The top 16 players in points will be invited.
We are really excited for this new format and are looking forward to it! Hopefully this thread presents the plan in a clear way, but please let me know if there is any confusion. Players who wish to be invited can drop a line on this thread or they are welcome to send me an email at GauntletSC2@gmail.com and we'll go from there. We are actively seeking out players and booking events now, so please don't delay!

This week our 2 events will be on Wednesday and Friday, thereafter they will be on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I will update this post in a bit to reflect that, was in a hurry to get it posted.

I should have a thread in tournament section soon, although I am debating putting all of the info into one massive thread to track all of the season events, which will take a little longer.

Ever consider just making it a full qualifier rather than excluding the entire community aside from the oldboys club? so many free passes handed out these days to the oldboys club there is rarely opportunity for new blood to shine. just a suggestion.

We have done open brackets, you can check out season 2. Participation in those open events weren't great, and turns out players like Snute, Guru, and Cham ended up winning them. There are quite a few open bracket events in the scene, we cast Filthy NA Cup and ESL Americas open, both open events. Some of our invites are direct results of players performances in those open events.

We're changing the format, see OP note in red. TLDR it was too ambitious to run a 24 event season amidst WCS and all of the other events going on. Future Gauntlet "Seasons" will be a month long format.

No the Global Open will be part of the Monthly format. It will most likely seed into the Monthly finals, haven't fully nailed down the format, if we want to use points, direct seeds, etc..
