Well, it's Lilbow. If he sucks at Valencia, he can blame it on switching to overwatch and thus too little SC2 practice...

Why Scarlett normally don't attend these dreamhack open tournaments? Want to see her more on offline tournaments after her good run on HSC..
She and Drogo will be in Shanghai's NSL international but not this WCS event.. don't understand, they both have chance to fight for a BlizCon spot.

wait? Polt, Hydra, Nerchio haven't qualified? Im hyped.

Snute has this one in the bag, I can feel it. Gogo Snute. Fighting!

Only 3 Koreans, and they are foreign Koreans.

Wait, are you surprised or something? This is how the WCS has been all year ever since the change. Sad to see no TRUE though since he's eligible for WCS now.
Would love to see VortiX make a deep run or for Snute to finally grab another title since he's been so close twice this past year, only to be upset by Harstem, twice

Where is Serral? Love to see that guy play, him and Zanster are so sick.

I feel you! Was so good to see her kick ass at HSC and I wish she would participate more. If I had to guess it has something to do with not having travel costs from Korea covered?

I don't think LoTV and Sweden has a love affair. Those three are the ones we can expect something of these days, the rest seem to have fallen behind...

major and kelazhur in the same group lol

Every piece of news I hear about Lilbow makes me dislike him more and more...
First he doesn't practice for Blizzcon because he's "preparing for LotV." Then he quits LotV within months of it releasing to play Overwatch, but now he still gets a free trip to Valencia even though he's "retired" from SC2?

You have GSL, SSL, and Proleague if you want to watch Koreans.

You have no idea what is inside his contract with Millenium.

Man this thread is depressing. why cant we just be happy that foreign competition is still happening? It's gonna be a blast to watch, hopefully snute takes this one.

for the win

Damn, give us koreans.

Good old times where we roasted them in LR when saying the "best players"

I mean showtime wins DH tours and played really well but compare that to the hype when people like naniwa, stephano or Idra competed with the best. People just aren't impressed by foreigners winning tournaments now and so there's also zero hype for those tournaments.

It stirs the question of Why?
Has foreign competition gap become so large that "the best foreigners" aren't even worth hyping?

This is mainly a community problem imo. There are quite a few people around here who have tried their best to dismiss everything that has to do with WCS this year before it even happens, by continuously posting in all threads relating to bigger events stuff that in the end boils down to "No Koreans = I'm not gonna watch this". Even in this thread. In July. Mind-boggling. I just don't get how people find the time and the energy to be so negative for such a long period of time over such a thing.

Has foreign competition gap become so large that "the best foreigners" aren't even worth hyping? It's because "the best foreigners" almost never get the chance to prove themselves against high level Korean opposition. Watching foreigners beat up foreigners and WCS Koreans in tournaments is all fine and dandy, and if people enjoy it, more power to them.
But I got a thousand times more excitement watching things like Snute beating the GSL and SSL champions back to back in one day during an IEM group stage than I get watching WCS playoffs this year. The notable exception being the finals of DH Tours between ShoWTimE and Nerchio.
It just would be nice to see foreigners and Koreans play each other before the Global Playoffs in autumn. Because I do think that players like ShoWTimE, Nerchio, etc. could do well. But they have no chance to prove themselves.
|
Gotta be honest, its hard to egt hyped for those tournaments when looking purely at the players there. And I'm not even exactly sure why I feel that way because there's some good ones there.
Which is weird because I wasn't the biggest fan of the all korean robots tournaments from before, but the currents foreigners are all pretty boring too somehow;
But I'm sure the tournament will be fun to watch nonetheless, because if there's one thing that hasn't changed since forever, its our casters pool, and they're all pretty good.

Snute'll take it, especially considering the overall weakness of the opposition. Bravo to Blizzard for this new WCS format that gives tours that have almost no interest skill-wise.

Starcraft community gotta love the "passion". :D
