KT Rolster will be commencing a retirement ceremony for Flash. Flash dedicated 9 whole years to StarCraft and was given the nickname, "The Ultimate Weapon". During his career, he won 3 OSL championships, 3 MSL championships, and 1 IEM championship. Although he started off with Pantech EX back in 2007, all of his accomplishments are centered around his time with KTF MagicNs, KT Fingerboom, KT Rolster.
The ceremony will be emceed by caster Kim Chul Min with special guest stars Stork and Jaedong. Anyone who finds their way to the Nexon Arena is welcome to attend the retirement ceremony, but 40 seats in the front row will be reserved for Flash's fan club members. After the ceremony concludes, there will be a fan meeting so Flash can mingle with his fans.

I personally think that he wasn't happy in SC2. I wish him all the best in whatever he choose. I never liked him, but if I had the opportunity to go there I would go there. He was a great star of BW, not that much of SC2, but that doesn't matter, still great person in Starcraft overall
I think that his return to BW would be as big as is Bisu's handsomeness It needs to happen!!!
As I age, so too does my favourite! It's sad to see, but "God" has finally stepped down.
I started watching BW right before Flash started playing. I was a fan after watching his famous rookie match with Boxer on Python, and then after seeing him SCV timing rush someone on that map with a bunch of stumps in the middle (forget it's name) I thought he had balls of steel for a rookie and from then on he was my favourite player. It was awesome watching my favourite player go on to dominate the whole scene, starting with his demolishment of Stork in the GSL! I have yet to experience choosing a favourite in any sport/e-sport who went on to just fucking win everything.
There was never a better BW player. Initially he didn't shy away from pure cheese/aggression to keep his opponents on their toes, despite his absurd mechanics. Then he basically said "fuck it, ima win anyways" and 14cced every game and still won everything.
So Everyone in TBLS will be there except for Bisu? Wtf Bisu please Anyway is this gonna be streamed and available with English cast? I joined the community too late to ever know how great Flash was, but I feel the loss anyway. I expect a few tears to be shed while watching the ceremony

I feel your love and enthusiasm for Flash ^^ but I think it's even more impressive if one points out the problems Flash overcame to become the undisputed best. You make it sound like Flash stepped on the scene and could have won everything, but he cheesed people like Bisu for a reason, and you can see how tense and nervous he was in many Vods from his first years. He even talked in interviews about how hard it was to cope with all the pressure the teamcoaches put on him - that they did of course because he was such a prodigy, that's true. Flash struggled quite a bit at times before his super-dominance in 2010, even though everyone recognized his position among the top players. And 14cc (in BW at least) can be seen as quite a cheesy build, eco-cheese just like 12nex. By itself doing it is in no way a sign of skill, rather it can make you look stronger than you are if you get away with it. Flash got known for it and it became a weakness for a certain time before it became a trademark of his dominance because eventually, he truely became unstoppable (but he had to become feared for his broad range of builds and skills before that).
Still holding on to the hope that he'll become a full time coach on KT, then I'd just extend my fanboying to the whole team and remain just as engaged and entertained tbh. Mandatory ruler for all players!!!

isn't bisu in the military?
He's "boing boing" streaming right now with 5k+ viewers.
I won't really call this a retirement because if he streams on Afreeca + starts playing BW again seriously (which I think he will) he will just reclaim god status instantly and win everything... ;-)

I don't get your first post. I guess maybe GSL isn't technically correct, that's SC2? I don't know, I don't follow the sequel. However, I do remember the first real tournament he won was one put on by GomTV, who were newcomers to the scene. And he played against stork in the finals.

I see now what you mean. I thought you were talking about Flash's first OSL championship against Stork and you called it GSL by accident (as this is the SC2 forum; afaik GSL is like the equivalent to OSL/MSL). From your answer I see that that couldn't have been the case. ^^
Checking out his early match history vs Stork I see that there's the GOMTV Star Invitational that he won, just like you said, prior to his OSL triumph. I never heard the term "GSL" used for something else than the SC2-tournaments by that name, so I was confused. There are no Vods for that Invitational though so I didn't watch it when I went through all of Flash's games (I didn't follow BW back then, I envy you ). Also that match-list reminded me that Flash got knocked out by Stork from two different OSLs in 2007 before, I kind of repressed that lol.

"boing boing" is him making cutesy noises (lots of female viewers) and basically asking for money. (Though, at the time of the post, he was playing BW. I was just joking about the boing)
"Going full afreeca" as it is sometimes called was/is kind of looked down upon by some.

they're shutting him out coz he streams "boing boing" Broodwar now. Plus afreeca Broodwar drains a lot of viewers from Pro sc2. Kespa can't like that :>
It's so sad. I was excited about FlaSh's chances after seeing LotV play.
Back in his Brood War days, he stood out for his base/crisis management. LotV's harass-oriented playstyle was the perfect environment for someone to step up on the opposite end of that spectrum, deflecting attacks everywhere with minimal losses.
In an alternate universe perhaps. Good luck Lee Young Ho.

Both MMA and Flash retired. Soon I will not know any active SC2 pro. Mvp probably retired a long time ago but still, I would love to hear some official news from him.

Thanks, I shouldn't be longer than 15 minutes. Flash is inside the press room doing an interview now. For reference I'm the Asian guy in the Korea University jacket.
I'm hoping there'll be some kind of recap translation for us non-Korean speaking fans? Like a small translation of what Stork, Jaedong, etc. said about Flash. Anything else that's funny/moving/interesting.

This moment breaks my heart. Whatever follows, something great ends here. Even if it was inevitable at some point and it should be a realistic decision by Flash.
Given the standard for these kind of events and my lack of knowledge of korean, I feel like this was a nice retirement ceremony. Great all those messages of his progamer colleagues and friends and that they showed up. The fans and their involvement.
