It was (at least in part, don't know to what extend) a fan vote. Life making his second Blizzcon finals in a row (including the win over INnoVation), aswell as winning an IEM, and a GSL impressed more people than ByuL's 3 second places. It happens.

sOs winning player of the year can only be compared to people arguing that Life should've been the best Zerg of 2014

It is kinda awkward that the player of the year did nothing noteworthy between Hot6ix Cup and MSI (which he didn't even qualify for on his own), except for that one GSL semifinal (to which he arguably had the easiest road out of the 4 semifinalists). But I guess that's the power of Blizzcon.

Don't forget the Proleague play off. sOs has been exceptionnal from MSI to Blizzcon.

INno, sOs and life won for popularity, not for best player in respective races.

Yeah, and in the 8 months before that he did almost nothing. That's kinda the point. He was absolutely exceptional for 3 months out of 11 of this year, but for the other 8 months he was painfully average. Average in Proleague, average in individual leagues. I would argue that until sOs won Blizzcon, at least herO and Classic had a far, far better year.

But it's more of a popularity vote I guess. So things like that can happen.

Yep, 2 all kills with the first reverse all kill, 8 wins in proleague post-season (the best so far), semi-finals in dreamhack and sOs' ro 32 and 16 in season 2 was not easy.
PS: sOs made the most money in 2015 (I think) and that's what counts

For the record, without Blizzcon and not including what Jin Air got in Proleague, sOs would have made less money this year than Firecake.

Also I didn't say his run was easy, but it was easier than what the other semifinalists went through (and his Ro32 was MMA and Sacsri).
