Neither ForGG nor Life going is a shame though, I thought they would invite at least one of last year's finalists. Yeah I am also a bit surprised, but Solar is a DH regular Champion now and the best LotV zerg. Parting is always good to have and maybe the strongest P in LotV. TY and Bomber also showed good games at Shoutcraft and should be way stronger at DH Winter. Life would've been great though. I guess we have to wait for GSL/SSL until we see him perform.

Yeah, I suppose I thought invites would be based less on LotV than they actually seem to be ![]() I was quite scared seeing that there are only a few Koreans as invites ... but they really chose the best ones, which is amazing - the only few Koreans, who obviously did practice LotV a lot and are good in it ... I would be happy to see e.g. JD or Flash there, but looking at them in China now, Flash is first learning, what is LotV about and JD is somehow taking it too relaxed ... would be nice seeing Life and sOs there, but nobody knows, whether they know anything at all about LotV ... But having Solar, PartinG, TY there ... these are practically the best ones out there. Great choice!!!!!

That's about what they said before MLG Winter Championship in March 2013. To be fair the Korean lineup was much much stronger + 17 Koreans vs 15 Foreigners + no group stage Here we could easily see an upset, Bomber is old, Parting seems not to be as good and TY never had an insane breakout. Bomber and TY could very well be out in groupe stage (not likely but they could), Solar seems to have this pretty much in the bag though

Just not sure what to think of it, I'm almost positive that there were other sponsors in the past fueling tons of money into the sport, without being a title sponsor. I wonder if this was something the dreamhack execs proposed due to the lack of funding for starcraft, or if Roccat came to them.

Yeah I think sponsors like Monster and Intel sponsor all of DH and the money gets spread out for all tournaments and the whole production etc., while Roccat chose to put their money specifically into the LotV tournament. So each tournament can in theory have a main sponsor I guess. The CS:GO tournamant is also called FACEIT CS:GO League.

It's actually not the first time this has happened, I think it's just exactly as it seems. SAPPHIRE AMD sponsored all of 2011's Dreamhacks, as I recall. They were even called SAPPHIRE Dreamhack, or something of the sort. Edit: Oh, and let's not forget Dreamhack EIZO Open, which spanned all of 2012.

I'll gladly watch Koreans experiment against each other because that still feeds into rivalries and shit, but watching Solar get bopped by a foreigner he'll play against one more time in his entire career is not an efficient use of my time.
