I really like the casting team of the Opening Weekend. Good mix of players and casters, pretty much all "casting profiules" covered (entertainement with Rotti, Kael' and InControl, technical stuff by Nate, ToD and TLO, a bit of everything with Apollo, Chobra for the player interactions). Really looking forward to it !

Now, for the Blizzcon, we lose Kaelaris: I always liked the guy, but we have other good "entertainement/play-by-play" casters so it's not too bad.
We lose ToD: that is sad, because his knowledge of the protoss race is pretty much unmatched by any other caster. That's a big loss, especially since I think there'll be a lot of protoss going through first round. His insights will be missed.
We get Tastosis, which is "meh" in my opinion.
Day[9] as a host is OK, but I wouldn't want him casting the thing. I guess I'm still a bit sour about him leaving the scene like he did.
We get Maynarde, which is nice. I really don't hear much of him, and that little I have, I liked. A nice breath of fresh air !
Moonglade is OK, although I must say that he disappoints me during his PL casts. I was expecting really in-depth and technical analysis of zerg play (kinda like ToD does for Protoss), but he doesn't go far enough in the details of his explanations IMHO.

So yeah, I'm super stoked by the choices of casters for the opening week, a bit less for Blizzcon.

My opinions:

Opening Weekend

Chobra: If I read the announcements correctly, he won't do any casting and serve as master of ceremony instead.
Apollo: Great analyst and decent caster. Best paired with someone who is good at hyping up the game.
TLO: One of the most likeable personalities in the scene. Looking forward to the commentary of Dr. Dario.
iNcontroL: Good caster. Good host as well. I like him.
Nathanias: Very good at hyping up the game. Has grown on me over the last couple of years.
RotterdaM: Not my favorite caster. Good analysis, but the way he emotes doesn't resonate with me. Decent guy tough.
Kaelaris: Used to be my favorite caster. Not very good at analysis, but charming and emotional.
ToD: Used to come off as a bit arrogant sometimes, but always provided very good analysis. Has also grown on me over the last couple of years.

Blizzcon

Day[9]: It seems to me he switches into a grinning, exuberant caster personality as soon as the cameras are rolling. I've seen YouTube videos in which he seemed to be his normal self and thought that side of his personality was more likeable. Seems to be popular in the scene tough. Probably a good choice for the head of the casting desk.
Tastosis: Tasteless and Artosis seem to complement each other very well. I can see why they are so popular. I agree they provide some excellent commentary.
Maynarde: Haven't seen a lot of casts with him. He seemed to be good at casting. Need more time before I really can form an opinion.
mOOnGLaDe: Underwhelming analysis and casting. I'm really sorry. I listened to him for a full year in Proleague and he never grew on me.

I also agree with other posters: Wolf and Valdes would be worthy additions to the casting desk. They do a very good job in Proleague.

Honestly, Day[9] might be a 'classic' and I respect him a lot for his past contributions to the scene, but I remember last time I've seen him casting SC2 (maybe it was even previous WCS? I can't remember) he was VERY out of touch. And I can imagine it only getting worse from that point...

I mean, I'd rather let the man be remembered for his past in SC (BW/WoL) and let him focus on his new game...

Amazing lineup!!

But I have to say, I'm disappointed and surprised that Wolf won't be there. His casting these days is top notch, and he knows as much about the scene as anyone. In fact, he's my favorite after Tastosis. How did they possibly let him slip by?

I'd prefer to see Valdes in here too. Him and Wolf are a great team.

EDIT: Also, I'll be happy to see Day9. Remember guys, he did a lot for SC2 and eSports. We should support his decision to create his new game, even if we have to take the occasional commentary with a grain of salt.

Had to look it up. Apparently he had casted well enough in the US to get the gig in Korea for GSL.

Regardless, he's a world-class American caster who would be a great compliment to the Opening Weekend crew - none of whom have regularly casted any of the players competing, except maybe Lilbow. Seems like an oversight to say the least... but that's just my opinion. I'm sure Blizzard has thought about this longer than I have.

I figured as much, I meant to say after he moved to Korea. I'd prefer Wolf over most of the Blizzcon casters, but it seems he's generally not that popular (based on lr's, I don't read Reddit/Twitch).

casting job? Day9 IS the specialist at casting job. Ofc Day9 doesnt know much about sc2 metagame compared to other casters but he knows how to entertain the crowd (primary: crowd, secondary: viewers like twitch). I even noticed that in his first sc2 year.
