Just to dispel any rumours. The Ro8 bracket is NOT fixed. Any of the groups can play any of the groups. There is no AvsB and CvsD.
|
Hitman makes it out. Calling it now.
Gungfu and Elfi could do it also.
Oh all that salt and tears. Especially Gungfu can make it. His group isnt such hard and he can prep zerg only.
|
Three Americans of different races trying to take down the champion from overseas. Group C sounds like a rejected movie script.

Group A & B looks like they would be Ro32 level groups

Man Violet got screwed.
He has to play all 3 matchups, against the 2 best players in the RO16 AND the most volatile protoss that has ever been in the RO16.
Poor guy

Nice to see the WCS rigged the draw so well

Lame, one Korean from C is not continuing

If Hitman gets out of that group his eventual championship will be even more glorious.

Hitman knows how to deal with this

Wishful predictions:
A: MarineLord, elfi B: Snute, Petraeus C: Hydra, Polt (embarrasing 0-4 for Hitman) D: ForGG, Lilbow

I think you meant hilarious 4-0 for hitman

You are wrong ... 0-4 is not embarrassing, it is expected. Anything else and he can be satisfied ... he ends up 3rd, he will be a hero and we will all be happy as we would see 3 matches with him ... he wins or ends up second and he will be a god!!!
|
Lilbow with the revenge against JD after HSC and teamkill against ForGG. Very difficult group (far more than C... It's not even needed to play GroupC, we know who, gets out), it's now that the Baguette must stand strong to get WCS points needed!

Lol who are the ladies? I feel bad he has such intense competition coming up. It'll be difficult to beat Polt and Violet.

You still can't play the other person qualifying from your group though, right?

Based on watching his stream, hitman is probably going to smash polt and violet, not sure about hydra though. Won't be surprised with a: Hydra > Hitman Polt > Violet Hitman > Violet Hydra > Polt Hitman > Polt
THE DREAM

Rofl these groups, there'll be only 2 Koreans in the Ro8. Thanks for giving Snute or Lilbow a ticket to BlizzCon^^

Until the final yes, but you could meet a ro32 group mate before that.

ahahahaha, you can't get a better justice than what happened to Hitman )))))) So funny, cant stop laughing
|
Group C is not really a group of death, just because violet has a Korean flag next to his name does not mean he is all that good. I was very surprised TLO managed to lose in the decider match but for sure violet and hitman are super dead in group C. Group D however is super stacked, It is going to be a very close 3 man race and even iaguz has a small shot of perhaps taking 1 Bo3 upset.
|
Damnit group D. I wanted JD and Lilbow through. Now there's a very good chance one of those wont make it.

Why embarassing? Its Hydra and Polt in group. No expectation here. :>

his ro32 performance aside, he was likely to finish 3rd or 4th in his ro16 group anyway. the fact that he's facing polt and hydra is a huge win for him already, and it might be the only chance he ever gets to face players of their level in an offline tournament setting, not to mention maybe the first time he's traveled overseas?
if i were him i would be ecstatic, and rightly so, he's done a great job

Why doesn't WCS have seedings for RO16 (just like GSL)? It's silly for Polt and Hydra to be drawn in the same group.

They do have seedings of a sort. 2 groups RO32 winners and 2 runner ups per group. Polt and Hydra ending in the same group is just luck (good or bad depends on your pov :p )
|
I love these groups! Can't wait to see it happen! Group A is totally open and I hope for Zanster and elfi to make it through for some interesting SWE vs FIN banter to keep on going. Group B looks like it is Snute's but he has failed in WCS before. I still think he and Gungfu will make it out though. Group C is just funny. It looks like stomping time, but we'll see. ...and finaly Group D. My oh my. I really want to see Lilbow make it out of this, and it would be cool to have Gimli going through as well, so that is what is going to happen, right?
|
I don't think that there is a group of Death. Violet is not high tier korean like Hydra or Polt
|
OMG @group a! if TLO will have a look on it he will get tears like crazy. elfi&zanster he would think ezepze but in 2015 manu always will purge German SC2 player out of challanger/premier-.- not even consider how close TLO lost to mana. quite bitter.
group d is a, no, the big cracker altogether!
|
I would love to see Jaedong and ForGG crush foreign Blizzcon hopes

in case of violet he can be happy reaching the ro16 with such poor play. not like he deserves to advance or anything.

That's silly. That's only fair if the RO32 group draws themselves are evenly drawn based on proper seedings (Pot 1-4), like how it's done in the World Cup and most sporting tourneys. Yes even in such cases, match-ups deeper in the tourneys can be imbalanced due to group match upsets i.e. a low seeded team (A4) ending up first and facing another low-seeded team (B3) at the knockout stage - but that's fair because A4 defeated higher seed teams (A1 and A2) to earn that easier passage.
Also, WCS doesn't have a pure group match format, but uses a double elim format - this means the player coming out first might not necessary be the strongest due to the luck of the draw and not battling with all players in the group.
Sorry for the rant. Yes, the top players are likely going to win WCS (again). But it's a shame seeing good players getting knocked out early on due to the luck of the draw and losing out on precious Blizzcon points.

The seeding already starts in challenger league remember. I think the current system is ok in that sense - experience has shown that most people can beat anyone on a good day, so the day form probably weighs more than past results.
If you want blizzcon points you better compete where there are twice as many points handed out though, but that is a different rant altogether.

What is up with 2 groups without any koreans... rigged!
|
I see:
MarineLord and Mana (home crowd driven)
Gungfu and Snute
Hydra and Hitman
Jaedong and Lilbow.
with the "bracket luck", the ESL is enforcing, we mostly see Jaedong-Hydra in Ro8 or Ro4 and thus again a foreigner in the finals...
|
I for one am very happy to see that the Koreans finally didn't get so lucky with the draw. In the past in WCS NA and EU it happened many times that some Koreans only advanced in second from the RO32 but somehow they still always managed to avoid each other in the following rounds. This time violet only advanced in second and he gets a group with other Koreans as a result. I think it is deserved. He put himself into this spot.
