Even with only a few days away from the main event of MSI Masters Gaming Arena, KT Rolster player Joo "Zest" Sung Wook has decided to pull out of the competition due to commitments to Proleague.
The decision was almost to be expected, as KT Rolster's final match of this round decides whether or not they advance to this round's playoffs. Their Season Playoffs spot is not entirely secure either. Even though fans would have loved to see him at an international event again, Zest is still competing for the award for most wins in Proleague and has been KT's best player this round (with a flawless 6-0 record). Helping his team in this crucial match at the very least makes sense.
Zest is replaced by sOs. Jin Air are already out of the running for this round, but their Season Playoffs ticket has been secured.
It is important to note however that the other two participating KeSPA players, Lee "INnoVation" Shin Hyung of SK Telecom T1 and Kang "Solar" Min Soo of Samsung Galaxy, has not pulled out despite their teams also being part of Proleague.
Cooooool!!! The competition becomes 1500% more interesting ... as sOs needs every single point for BlizzCon ... and with sOs and JaeDong, MSI becomes a top event for fans!!!

the job of a team is not to hold players hands by manipulating tournament lineups so they get cake points

I always had this feeling that KeSPA teams never really cared about foreign fans that much. Samsung is a little different story(and exception) since the company is world wide. And again, it's my feeling, maybe they care but do not show it. So as much as Blizzcon is big tourney and stuff, it's not Korean tournament :/

But HyuN is in MSI and will most likely get his travel points from DH as well.
That's actually great. I would've asked my best performing player of proleague to stay for next week's matches if I could. It's good for Zest too as he's competing with herO for proleague wins so Win-Win scenario.

No, Blizzard had to cancel every wcs point for this waste MSI tournament because of WCS distortion. It's unfair competetition and if Blizzard wants to save its face it must prevent such wcs points premiers as this MSI where someone try's to distort road to Blizzcon with his invites that are brazen-faced and against terran (TY/Fantasy)! -.-

What? Invited players HAVE TO get out of their group to earn WCS points, don't they? It's against the WCS rules to award points to invited players without requiring them to win matches.
Then you can argue that sOs is in a 2 foreigners group, so the points will be quite easy to earn for him, but it has always been the case for most foreign wekk-end LANs.
Anyway, Lilbow will win WCS in Poland and will kick them out of top 16 :-D #baguette

As example, Curious was invited in Kespa Cup 2 and was the only invited to lose in first round, so he scored 0 points, whereas other first round losers had to win maps in qualifiers and got awarded with 125 pts: http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/2015_KeSPA_Cup_Season_2
EDIT : OK, ninja edited :p So don't worry, sOs will get 0 if he's kicked in group stage.

sOs is an "invited player"? He played the Korean qualification and was sent out by Zest one round before the final. They should offer the place to Stats, probably he could not or refused or something, so the next player from the qualification sent out by Zest was sOs .
keep calm, boy. one has to go off while reading this rubbish by MSI and bolding underlines it accordingly...

yeah but this is the logic of an ant, just stupid out-and-out because it would be just fair to give the spot to dark who dropped out in the semi's as stats did. the logic from KT Rolster is consistent when Zest forfeits his spot so that Stats do either because of proleague preparation. And it has to be the duty of Blizzard to intercede and stop the biased bullshit of MSI (just inviting Protoss and Zergs that are just on the verge of Blizzcon like sOs, Jaedong or Hyun and ignoring the terrans).

So what??? who cares??? sOs has to play Harstem and Toodming. How can he even fail against this opponents? never ever so these are free give away's in wcs points for sOs.. just undue influence-.- but this is also why sc2 lost its viewer, nobody want to see neither PvP nor ZvZ (excerpt of MSI organization and some nuts...)

Ok, it seems you really hate watching mirror matches and having players with a chance to make Blizzcon get pot shots at a chance to make it into the top 16. Well, its simple really, don't watch. Wait until all the mirror matchups in the bracket are out, and then just watch when the games become for you more interesting. And about the "Blizzard has to stop this bias invitations for Terrans" Well, are there any terrans that will actually benefit via the WCS circuit by coming here? I don't see any. While it does suck for some people, in the end the tournaments, while being a source of entertainment for us, its also the player's livelihood right there; they need these to make a living. Considering that, I don't think its unfair for tournaments to extend their invites for players with a chance to make it to bigger heights.

What a bullshit - sOs just replaced Zest in "Zest's group". Nobody changed the group to be in favor of sOs, nobody manipulated anything, they just put sOs on the place of Zest into his group. Are you mad to complain about it? Would you propose to change the groups because of sOs so that he is put into some more difficult group???
Too bad Zest has been the only one bringing it for KT in R4. Amazing turnaround considering he looked decidedly mediocre during the middle rounds of PL, especially helpless against T bio play and widow mine drops. Now he looks like one of the very best again. I'd put him and herO right behind Inno for best in Korea.
Makes sense Inno is going, given that SKT already has their spot in the GF locked in. And agree w/ Deacon about Samsung. Solar is very important to their PL team (especially given his recent resurgence), but is still a rotating lineup regular as they also frequently start their 3 T, and Dear. Whereas Zest is the anchor for KT and must be fielded every time.
Missing the season ending playoffs would be much, much more catastrophic for KT than Samsung. As the defending PL champions, and w/ likely a massive payroll (comparable to SKT) and sponsorship expectations, missing out would be a crushing failure. Especially when you add in their heavy star power, and gigantic midseason acquisition of Life (at that time, the best player in the world). For Samsung, getting into the playoffs would be a great breakthrough, but I can't imagine it was a realistic expectation for them this season.

Lol, the salt... What a both unprofessional and incorrect statement. It's not important to note that because it's a given, and they only reason they wrote that in the first place is to vent their displeasure with Zest's decision. So much salt... Anyways, sOs has been given a golden opportunity, let's see what he does with it! Zest better destroy his PL opposition too. I have confidence...

Are you kidding? Proleague has been giving us the best constantly good content in sc2 for a while now. PL play defines the meta.
You would have a hard time convincing me that a foreigner stomp foreign tournament should take precedence over one of the most prestigious and diffucult event in sc2.

Yeah, people are overdramatizing shit here. It's normal for a team that is in a bad situation to use all their best players even if that means less individual exposure for these players. They probably didn't give a thought about who was going to replace Zest, especially since he's at almost 100% BlizzCon chances.

It won't, those points are already accounted for. Even with TY's Ro4, sOs is only 100 points behind.
I am pretty sure, each of them will need several hundreds additional points to get to BlizzCon ... and the 16th spot will definitely not be reserved for any of these two ...
There's a good chance SSL & GSL will be won by players in the Top 15 and it'll be sOs vs TY for the 16th spot
This will all depend on who wins the WCS in Poland ... I believe, both sOs and TY can still make a few hundred points and the 16th place can be held by someone from the guys before them.

it matters dosn't mean it's reasonable
I wondered MSI invited these players base on what? is there some standards? or just organization's personal interest? or they want to increase the entertaining? then they should invite player such as Maru or life but they didnt…maybe they think these players dont need the wcs points. but they invited Parting……
so this MSI stuff provide wcs points and they dont even have standards or explanations just base on some personal interest…

Some of the invites made sense tbh Solar is the previous champion and PartinG was the runner up. Jaedong is a brood war legend so they invited him mostly likely for hype. HyuN is rank 19 in wcs atm and has been performing quite well recently. The only invites that were really strange were viOLet and Ian. Where the only reason is could think of would be that MSI is Taiwan brand which would be why they invite Ian and that viOLet lived in the US already which is why they invited him i guess other then that i have no clue why either of the 2 would be invited over players like MMA/Rain/Snute/Bunny etc.
I wonder who to contact so I can stream this event. There is no contact details and as I look for information regarding the tournament I can't really seem to locate anything that would lead me to the organizers, or at least to whoever decides who can stream it.
If anyone has any info on who to contact, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

solar win Gfinity , but noting related with MSI……
whatever…I dont think wcs points should give away so sloppy…
MSI can invite anyone they want, give any money they want but dont touch the wcs points…it's about blizzcon and a player's ultimate glory…

doesn't blizzard decide which tournaments can give out WCS points? shouldn't you be mad at blizzard? any tournament can invite whomever they want... if that's a problem for you then you should be saying no tournaments with invites should give out points
Well, I think the Zest case just shows why MSI does not invite big proleaguers (Maru, Life, etc...) and stick to Koreigners (JD, Hyun, Violet etc.) or Koreans that are used to travelling like Parting, Solar and now sOs.
Inviting a kespa god (or getting him qualified) only to see him decline must be disappointing for the staff.

so what's the meaning of the qualifies? let's just invite a bunch of players and get the party started! Look at GSL SSL and KESPA CUP . they had standards to decide what kind of players can be seeded or be in code S . and what about others? No need to play a game to step in the main event? oh that sounds great~doesn't it ?
anyway. you're right about one thing. Blizzard holds the blizzcon. so they have every right to approve any organizations to give WCS points to anyone they want to invite. that's it.
There's a good chance SSL & GSL will be won by players in the Top 15 and it'll be sOs vs TY for the 16th spot

and why is that related with JD Hyun and violet? according to you. JD is a legend. Ian is Taiwanese. Hyun "perform well recently". and voilet is just because he"live in US"……personal interest everywhere and some even make people wonder"why him?"
and I DIDNT flame people. I just make my point. as I said blizzard is authority so they can do anything they like but it doesnt mean I have to agreed with everything they do.
it is about having a chance to get the WCS points, now the situation is some can have this chance and some cant .it depends on the organization. I dont think it is fair…

JD, Hyun and Violet are pro-gamers in the international travel circuit. That's what they do. It's their job, it's how they make money. And since they don't have Pro league, or Kespa teams limiting where and how often they can go to tournaments they're likely the first ones to accept invites. That added to the fact that they're popular with crowds make them easy choices for organizers to invite to their tournaments.
