GFinity posted a video detailing Samayan "BlinG" Kay and his career, and stating that he is taking a step back from competitive Starcraft 2, citing current personal issues along with poor internet connection where he lives in Cornwall, England. It is unknown as to if he will ever return to competition, but he has stated that he wishes to return to studying and later be involved in the eSports scene, if possible.
BlinG, upon his departure from competitive SC2, was one of the most notable UK players, being the top placing UK finisher in WCS in recent years. He was a mainstay in the 2014 WCS Europe system, most notably taking first place in his RO32 group in Season 1.
BlinG will be remembered going forward as one of the most down to earth and "cool" members of the SC2 scene, and one of the faces of fun at many Homestory Cups. And... also for this epic video.
It is still unknown as to if he will be leaving Team Dignitas, but if he does, that will leave Tefel as the only remaining member of the SC2 squad.
It'll definitely be interesting to see how active he stays in the scene. A lot of players stop playing competitively, but still show their face every so often in events (like HSC!)
BlinG was one of my favorite faces of the scene. Really cool and fun and the heart of the party. He has always been a strong UK representative, and imo became the face of Dignitas SC2 after SeleCT left.

If he retires from SC2? Then wouldn't that mean he leaves Dignitas? Why would Dignitas want to keep him on their roster? Damn... I can't believe he's retiring. Right after I wrote about him in the Gfinity preview too...

If he wants to return they can just put him on an inactive roster so that other teams don't try to snipe him. Another reason could be that he could leave the playing side and enter the management side of Dig. Of course those are just guesses as to why they might not remove him from the roster so soon.
thought this would come eventually since bling didnt really win or go far anywhere, still breaks my heart though. such a cool guy with a great attitude, good luck in the future!

Not sure, but i figure since Dig has not made a statement about it yet, best not to jump to conclusions. He may be put on an inactive roster and used more as a marketing/PR figure.
What a great video. A lot of players, retired in the past, could've had a similar one. I will miss Bling especially as part of HSC gang, but I hope there is a decent chance to see him there still in the future. Best of luck, Bling!
Honestly, considering his results during his whole career, this announcement feels even late. But he was always a nice asset to every event fun-wise. GL HF in real life.
Damn, I've always been a fan of BlinG. He may not have a lot of results, but I feel he was still a really strong player. It's unfortunate he couldn't capitalize more on the potential I think he had.
Really like BlinG, both as a Player and personality within the scene, hopefully he is able to take on other roles within eSports. Would be nice to see him still attend Gfinity and HSC.
I remember a party after/during a homestory cup. An we drank together and I was so happy. I'm really gonna miss him, hopefully he will become a caster, because that's what I would like to see.
It is very hard to keep competitive in sc2 due to many factors. I am not surprised that many sc2 players decide its not their cup of coffee anymore. Gl to bling, he always seemed like a nice guy.
Wow, I managed to miss that dance video. Thanks for the funsies, BlinG, keep up the good work, and have all the success in life you ever imagine to have .
He always seemed to me to be one of the coolest and most fun guys in the scene. One of the few I was curious as to what they are actually like outside of the game.
BlinG, you will be missed, hope to see you pop up again in the scene, best of luck! rooting for you was fun :D
I hope we see you again. so many player Retires this time. somthing is wrong with sc2. if i see other games like counter strike or league of legends. they are hyped so much and if i look this games. they are so long and unintresting to watch. i cant understand why people like watching casual games.
Will miss him but wish him well too. I remember the Skype interview he had with Apollo and Kaelaris after beating Stardust and Happy to advance to the WCS Europe Round of 16 that quickly turned godlike because his mother got in on it:

Best of luck BlinG.
Sorry to make u dissapointed but in this case, or any case for that matter, its not a matter of how often he wins a trournament. If a pro player never wins a single tournament they can still play on a competible level and make a living out of it thru streaming etc. But he did said his internet wasnt good, and thats very important to have so, and then he wanted to look after his future with studies, smartest choice tbh. And i like the fact that he wanna go back in some form after or meanwhile so hes not left the building yet.
