The format seems to have changed and instead of 16 players only 8 will be competing. Some of the players that initially qualified are missing.
As a result Gfinity won't award any WCS Points this time, since that would require 16+ players. This changes a lot for players like Bunny and TRUE who are in hot pursuit of the top 16, for a chance to compete at BlizzCon.

also, it seems the tournament doesn't give any WCS points now, as it is removed from the official list : http://wcs.battle.net/sc2/en/about
I hope all the players who qualified through the EU quals turned round and said they couldn't go to make this happen or this pretty shitty on GFinity's part. Patience seemed excited about it when he qualified and I don't see why Roccat wouldn't send HyuN either :/
I can't speak for KeeN or Myungsik but I can see Prime being unable to pay for KeeN to fly out and SBENU might want Myungsik to focus on PL/SSL I dunno

PartinG was announced to be invited to it at some point a few months ago. Looks like things have changed, especially with this overlapping with IEM Gamescom which is a bigger tournament.
I dont get this one bit... Scheduling doesnt make sense, 8 player tournament doesnt make sense, no one from eu qual doesnt make sense. Isnt RedEye running this now as well? Not hosting but setting these up?

Redeye is the broadcast director, or something like this, it doesnt have anything to do about tournament's format

ahhhh ok thank you, I never heard exactly what he would be doing. I just remember him saying he would be behind the scenes now, so wasnt sure exactly what that meant. Honestly I'm kind of scared for Gfinity... I hope they do well, especially for Redeyes sake, I suppose he will always have a home somewhere though <3

Basically they say the family name first in Korea, which makes it Lee Jae Dong. I guess Gfinity went full foreigner with first name/last name. Having Jaedong instead of Jae Dong in the name is a mistake tho <.<

I hope the players who need WCS points go to gamescom open bracket instead. It sucks for them that they made their schedule around this tournament giving points
Well that sucks for Patience, HyuN, MyuNgSiK, and KeeN.... I don't see any of them not wanting to compete in a foreign tournament for some cash money. Hopefully it's not some stupid/shady reason and that Gfinity did mess up from the beginning...lol

Just asked Patience why he came back to our team house. Apparently they're splitting the 16 players. 8 players will play this tournament, their next tournament (Summers II) the other people that qualified will play.

Oh good to know the other players haven't been screwed out of a tournament, little odd why they decided to do that but I guess any possible invitees are choosing IEM over gfinity. I'd have preferred the 16 man version though.

oh wow that's weird. Glad to see they'll still get to play in a tournament though

<3 Olimoley your so awesome, thank you very much for the info :D Seems like Gfinity should've explained how this was working, or maybe they did and I just didnt see. 8 person tournament is a bit odd, I cant think of a 10k 8 person tournament off the top of my head. Is this all leading to a bigger tournament? Wonder about the WCS points, considering its not on liquipedia I'm assuming there wont be any. Most of all though, I think they should've scheduled it better so it doesnt have to compete for numbers in this market, because really it just hurts both of them.
The only thing I can say about this is: Great job for doing it at the same time IEM gamescom is running! I just love Tournaments overlapping! Seriously!

**sorry for this madness**
Well Gfinity announced their dates way earlier than IEM.

Well it is known since early April 2015 that gamescom will be held at this time. And except last year, there was always SC2, so what would have been the problem to do it one week later?

Cant tell if your being sarcastic or not lol. If not, like that other person said the tourny is in the London arena and Bling is from Cornwall. Also it'd be a pretty shitty requirement if you had to have won a tournament to be invited. He's pretty good too, but more of a fan favorite I guess you could say.

Blizzard manages event's dates, so I think it is a Blizzard's mystake. This is a very bad thing to have 2 big tournaments at the same time.

But they weren't at the exact same time, a bit better imho

Doesn't really matter, the same weekend and on two different places means players will have to choose which one to participate and it sucks, it is like Wimbledon and French Open happens on the same week.

I agree with you, it totally sucks. At least for IEM/DH there weren't problems for the viewers.
