How do you feel about finally winning a championship?

I had no thoughts about regarding the championship. I thought a lot about how difficult it was going to be after I saw who was on my side of the bracket. I went and asked for advice from other champions and they all told me to just enjoy myself without having any regrets. So I went ahead and played exactly as they had advised and I was able to win the championship. I feel dazed.

You stated that you had a sense of fear regarding finals. So were you feeling a lot of fear?

I got the thought a lot that I’m just not cut out to be a champion. Because of that, I even contemplated retirement.

How did you feel after you lost game one?

Along with the thought that “As expected, today again I will...,” situations in the past where I’ve lost in the finals kept coming up in my head. But since I was playing as I was constantly recycling the mentality that I would just enjoy myself, I was able to just focus on the game and get rid of all worldly thoughts.

Around when did you think that you actually had the chance to win the championship?

As I was playing during game five, since I had the advantage in the overall score, a scenario where I actually won the championship, as well as doing a winner interview, and other thoughts kept popping up in my head. And then, scenarios in the past where I had lost in the finals also popped up, so I was able to tell myself over and over again not to let those kinds of mistakes occur again. I was afraid that I would lose if I just thought about how I could win the championship, so I played my match while excluding that kind of thought from my mind.

You’ve won a championship in a tier 2 category. What is your next goal?

In order, I just won a tier 3 and a tier 2 tournament. Now the only thing left for me is to win a tier 1 tournament. Right now, I have 1 individual league remaining, so I will work hard so that I can do my best and aim for the championship. If I am able to attend BlizzCon as well, then I want to win that also.

During the final match, which situation did you think was the most dangerous for you?

Since we were both tied at 1-1, game three was really crucial. But because I was at such a disadvantage in the beginning, I kept thinking weird things like, “Ah, not again…” I think I was able to win the championship because I was able to overcome that situation well.

If you want to attend BlizzCon, then you have to win the GSL championship.

I didn’t really have any hope of making it to BlizzCon earlier on, but since I won the KeSPA Cup today, I think I see a chance for me now. I plan to do my very best. My plan is to also approach the GSL with the mentality of just enjoying myself. I think this kind of mentality is really good (laughs).

You gave up a first place finish twice to teammates. Since the same situation occurred for teammate Dark, do you have anything to say to console him?

Dark placed second two seasons in a row for KeSPA Cup. I’m sure he’s upset a lot because of that, but I hope he can overcome that by looking at me. I would get the feeling that Dark is capable of pulling it off after all if I see that he can overcome this. I would like for Dark to also win a championship in the future by beating a teammate; not me though.

Even though 2014 was a gloomy year for Zerg, do you have anything to say to the fans who believed in you and kept on following you?

Since Zerg was in such a gloomy state, I thought that there was no future for Zerg (laughs). But I feel like I just showed the future for Zerg, so I hope people will continue to believe in me and cheer me on a lot.

How do you plan on spending your prize money?

I haven’t thought about that yet. I think I’ll treat my teammates to a nice meal and then save the rest.

Anything else you would like to say?

During all my time getting here, many fans cheered me on. I am really grateful for that. While the closing ceremony was going on, I kept thinking about Dark. I’m sure he’s going through a very difficult time right now. But I want him to know that I think he will surely overcome this situation since he’s still young. In fact, I was reminded of my past self (laughs).

It's done by prize money, not prestige unfortunately

Cheers Seeker!

This interview really makes it clear how much soO's worst enemy was himself. I'm really happy he overcame his mental block! Thanks for the translation Seeker!
