I haven't seen a topic regarding the actual playoffs chances for all the teams so I decided to compile it in this google doc spreadsheet:

Well based on the points distribution, KT is at 4th with 162 right now, Sbenu is at 131, MVP / Samsung is at 120, prime is at 100. The point differential between KT and Sbenu / MVP and Samsung / Prime is 31/42/62. These differentials will increase by 10 or 40 if KT wins against the winners of CJ/Jinair in Round 3 playoffs but loses to SKT, or if KT goes to win Round 3 playoffs against SKT. The only way for any of Sbenu / MVP / Samsung / Prime to make it into the final playoffs is to at least overtake KT in the rankings.
It is statistically impossible for two teams to overtake both KT and Jinair (who are at 203 points). Even if Jinair scored dead last (30) and KT scored second last (35) it is impossible for two teams to overtake Jinair.
For those too lazy to look at the math, this means:
SKT, CJ, and Jinair are locked into the final playoffs.
Whether KT, Sbenu, MVP, Samsung, or Prime (yes even Prime theoretically has a chance) depends on round 4 performance and KT's performance in round 3 playoffs.
If KT doesn't win against the winners of CJ / Jinair in round 3 playoffs:
There is still a chance for all 4 bottom teams to make it into the final playoffs.

They pretty much need KT to not win round 3 playoffs to have any chance; otherwise the chances of KT being in bottom 4 for round 4, and those teams being in top 1-3 AND winning the round 4 playoffs themselves is really really low. Nevertheless it would be funny if Prime made it into the playoffs with a miraculous performance in round 4 over KT but KT will never let that happen.

I've seen KT lose to Airforce Ace in embarrassing manner then win the whole tournament two, three months later any ways. KT's always been the wildcard while SKT's been the consistent powerhouse. Nothing surprising about that.

KT was the fifth of last year's R4 and still won. It's never over until it's over.

When was the last time they were locked in for playoffs early into PL?

I think in 2011-2012 proleague they were pretty much locked into PL since they had 3rd / 1st place finish in the first two rounds when there were only 3 rounds?

Today's results were excellent for KT! Now to win the remaining two and hope that SBENU and MVP lose as much as possible.

But for the current playoffs, next week is crucial as the 6th and 7th team (out of eight) will be playing for the last hope this season - KT and Jin Air.

They could still fall if they get only 35 points, KT 91 and SBENU 121. With some upsets there could be a 4-3 situation making it possible.
