Ever since Heart of the Swarm was released, every GSL finals has featured one or more player who would go on to join SK Telecom T1, was a current member of SK Telecom T1, or was previously a member of SK Telecom T1.
2013 WCS Season 1 Korea Runner up - STX INnoVation Winner - Woongjin Stars Soulkey
Both of these players went on to join SK Telecom with Soulkey joining in 2013, and INoVation joining in 2014.
I am not including the second season of the 2013 WCS Korea, because the event was run by Ongamenet, even though the runner up of this even was an SK Telecom T1 player, Rain.
2013 WCS Season 3 Korea Runner up - SK Telecom T1 soO Winner - SouL Dear
This was also the beginning of soO's GSL run, where he was the finalist for 4 season in a row.
2014 Global StarCraft II League Season 1 Runner up - SK Telecom T1 soO Winner - KT Rolster Zest
2014 Global StarCraft II League Season 2 Runner up - SK Telecom T1 soO Winner - SK Telecom T1 Classic
2014 Global StarCraft II League Season 3 Runner up - SK Telecom T1 soO Winner - SK Telecom T1 INnoVation
2015 Global StarCraft II League Season 1 Runner up - yoe Flash Wolves PartinG Winner - KT Rolster Life
PartinG was a former player for SK Telecom, playing with them from 2013 to 2014

That would be because they money coming out of their ass
|
this just reminded me of the soOner-up era :o
|
Another way to look at it, is second place finishers all have skt1 blood in them. SKong Telecom T1
|
Not surprised, SKT breeds and buys champions
|
Not terribly surprising considering soO alone takes care of 4 of the 6 GSLs.

So this means Rain, PartinG, Dream or INnoVation make the GSL finals, right?

Perhaps
I actually do think that Dream will make it to both the GSL and SSL finals.

Dream is one of the best players, imo. I would be surprised if he didn't get to at least one finals this time around.
Given his current opponent's form for SSL, he should have the game in the bag, haha. But it'll be interesting since he has his GSL match (for his group) against the same person as his quarter finals match.

So basically, SKT has lost almost all finals of premier KR starcraft in recent times
2013 WCS S1 GSL Runner up: later SKT star INnoVation WCS S2 OSL Runner up: SKT Rain WCS S3 GSL Runner up: SKT soO
2014 GSL s1 runner up: SKT soO GSL s2 runner up: SKT soO GSL s3 runner up: SKT soO GSL GC runner up: SKT parting SPL runner up: SKT T1, the whole team
2015 GSL s1 runner up: ex-SKT Parting S2SL s1 runner up: SKT Dream Kespa cup s1 runner up: SKT Dark S2SL s2 runner up: SKT dream or classic

If you are impressed by identifying successful players and using your inherent financial advantage to buy them then you are easily and wrongfully impressed.

Same with Classic. Hell INnoVation was in one of the weaker phases in his HotS career when they picked him up.

soO and Rain both joined SKT back in Brood War and never accomplished anything worthwhile until after they switched to SC2.
Dark, originally on SlayerS, did not achieve anything worthwhile until after he joined SKT. Same with Dream, except Dream was originally on MVP.
Classic had a very bad start to his SC2 career, and did not start doing well until after he joined SKT (with an exception being a really good performance in the Proleague finals versus Woongjin when he was still on STX).
None of the players that I listed were picked up during the peaks of their careers, you can even argue that INnoVation was in a bit of a slump when he joined SKT.
EDIT: I had forgotten about Dream getting to the finals of an IEM once, against YoDa I think it was. EDIT 2: It was against First.

How is counting Innovation and Soulkey from 2013 even relevant? If you're trying to show that SKT1 breeds and nurtures future champions, what do those 2 results show other than they bought 2 former champions and that they had the money to do so? It'd be like claiming Life's past wins for KT before he was on the team as somehow something to do with them.
And didn't they buy Innovation as he started or was in the middle of his starleague win? That's a massive stretch. And Parting was on the team for a long time and never won anything, then he leaves and he's counted too? If Rain wins this season do we count him as well? How about if the next season a former member wins, how long do you decide to keep counting former members?
I'm sorry, but this seems like a really irrelevant list of stats.

I should add, I appreciate the effort the OP made. And he does have a point, that is a lot of SKT1 names, especially in the soO, Classic and other soO finals. However coming second in so many finals is less than stellar. Not to mention that KT actually WON two of these finals, which makes SKT1's one win with Classic seem pretty paltry.
And it irks me that great past teams like STX and Woonjinn are totally ignored. STX/SouL have a win and end of season finals win with Dear against Soulkey (I am counting the end of season finals, because not to do so is silly), and in addition to Innovation's already mentioned second, his first against sOs (end of season).
I don't mind the effort however the focus and results seem particularly skewed. If you just cherry pick the GSL, don't count the OSL, don't count any end of season finals, and count people who won wayyyy before they were on team then yes, SKT1 is totally in everything -_-.

And it's not about taking it seriously, it does say 'fun fact' at the start but it's totally misrepresentative which doesn't make it fun at all just really annoying.
For the record, I like SKT1. I don't support them, but I think they're a powerhouse team with a great record. I just think this is giving them more credit than they deserve.
