Probably the best draw Heart could have hoped for besides the all foreigner group.

Group A is Hyun and probably Jaedong, depending on what Jaedong shows up of course

Group B: MC advances over Heart. The other two wouldn't shock me totally if they advanced but I'm pretty sure it'll be MC-Heart here

Group C: $o$-Sacsri ROFLstomp foreign dreams.

Group D: That's a group of death if I ever saw it. On best form I'd say Solar advances first....the other one is really in the lap of the gods....I'd go.....Hydra I guess.

Would be kinda sick if Showtime showed up with sick PvZ and advances.
Maru and Serral are probably top 5.

Nothing much to watch: Koreans, Koreans and Koreans again. If Gfinity really wants to increase viewership than they have to allow more NA and EU players to participate. For a high skill we already have GSL and other tournaments to watch.
I wish Gfinity would be more foreign friendly show tournament. More different countries involved - more fans to support their countries.

We'll see who gets massacred though, even that strength has been failing San recently. Also one of them is Solar.

Why? Koreans play better overall and are more crisp. I would watch gsl over wcs any day.

yeah I agree I don't understand his viewpoint at all. Plus there was NA and Europe quals, they just largely lost to koreans.

Furthermore who goes in search of 'slightly worse than high skill' play?

Lots of people just want to cheer for their countrymen, nothing wrong with that. Having a sport dominated by a single nation is never good for it's global success. I mean I am completely happy with the heavy korean lineup, but that's just how it is.

Very high skill or high skill play from average viewer's point is pretty much the same. Show is more fun than just skill.

A schedule would be nice! The tournament starts the day after tomorrow. The schedule menu on their website tries to be funny and pop-ups the schedule image.

To make a new thread you go to the subforum you want to put it in (e.g. SC2 General). At the very top it should say "Create new topic".

my god, group c has 3 players I like. I don't know who to cheer for alongside BlinG.

Patience got a nice group though, him and Heart are gonna storm through it.

My predictions:

Group A: True - > Jaedong

Group B: Bunny -> Patience

Group C: SOS -> Sacsri

Group D: San -> Hydra

I feel Bunny is at his strongest in TvT, So if he met Heart he would win. Secondly he never really had big problems against protoss either, and since no zerg is in the group i believe he will make it out as nr 1.
After all said and done, one and one still is ONE.

Is this the "Who can defeat Hydra?" tournament or what? o.O
Kinda a weak lineup imo... Where are the other top players?

Overlap with Kespa Cup and GSL and SSL groups. It's still pretty stacked for not being a premier tournament IMO.

More like "Who can defeat sOs?".

Yeah, I'm pretty disappointed in this players list too tbh, why is gfinity all korean?
I'm sure the event will be pretty cool, but I don't really have much interest on watching this, even though I am a fan of a lot of those koreans.

I wish Gfinity would be more foreign friendly show tournament. More different countries involved - more fans to support their countries.

Why? Koreans play better overall and are more crisp. I would watch gsl over wcs any day.

yeah I agree I don't understand his viewpoint at all. Plus there was NA and Europe quals, they just largely lost to koreans.

Furthermore who goes in search of 'slightly worse than high skill' play?

lol, what? How is that hard to understand? You don't have to agree with it but I don't see how you can't understand it.

It is just really boring when 12 of the 16 players at an event like this are Koreans. I totally agree with that as well. If I want to see Koreans I can watch GSL.

And if the foreigners largely lost to Koreans, then I wouldn't call these "NA and Europe" qualifiers. Of course you can't say anything about Koreans that actually live in NA or Europe but I am sure at least Symbol and San do not and maybe even more. Those shouldn't have been allowed to compete there.

On the other hand it is also weird that Bunny and Hydra got invites to this after they lost in the qualifiers. Shouldn't the invites be decided before the qualifiers start, so that the invited players don't even play in the qualifiers? In Hearthstone there was some drama earlier this year because players lost in some qualifier but then got invited to the next stage anyway and in the end these players were removed again but it seems like people in SC2 are not bothered by this. Strange.

I don't see why anyone would be bothered by this. At least you know the player that's invited is really interested in the tournament. BasetradeTV does this a lot for their online tournaments.

I seriously don't get this. I am personally very happy to see these koreans (mainly for sOs). The Koreans give me ample entertainment that foreigners don't, and if you REALLY want foreigners to win something, you should expect them to win against these mid-level koreans. You should know, other than sOs, the koreans here aren't the top Koreans and these foreigners should have a decent chance. We have bunny, uthermal and showtime, the best that the world outside Korea has to offer. So if they lose, you can't simply complain because they at least bunny and showtime have proven to be able to beat korean-level players.

I would really appreciate it if you explicitly explain why I should get this. Why would this be boring? Symbol? sOs? True? Personally I can't get enough of GSL. I want more and more and gfinity is giving me what I want.

Cheers.

I want to see the best Starcraft II possible. And Events like Gfinity run during times where I can watch it live, while GSL, 3SL and SPL run during lunch time, when I do wörk wörk.

So I am really happy, that Gfinity didnt become a run down foreigner arena but a arena for top lvl Starcraft II. Maybe not the Top of the Top Lvl, because of Schedule issues, but still top lvl.

And if you ever met persons like Patience, Sacsri or San, you wouldnt say anything against the Koreans.

Sorry this is a minor issue, but it still makes me cringe. I would assume you meant to say 'you wouldn't say anything against the Koreans?'

Yes it will be on twitch and it starts in 5 hours, you can see it on the right under Upcoming events.

Hm looks like it starts in 4 hours instead. 6pm BST, so 7pm CEST. First game is Jaedong vs Showtime.

Schedule is here: http://www.gfinity.net/news/details/starcraft-ii-spring-masters-ii-schedule
Maru and Serral are probably top 5.
