lotv is the end of starcraft II, there will never be any more starcraft II after it, its like the last showoff you can pull. I expect a lot of old star coming back for one last ride Mvp included.

If it's anything like the transition from WOL to HOTS, the best players pretty much maintained their same skill level. Looks like all great Kings go to die abroad. Nestea playing his final matches in wcs na and mvp in wcs eu. According to Aligulac, MVP's last recorded matches are the qualifiers for Kespa cup and Homestory cup in September and October of last year respectively. It is respectable that he didn't make a big deal of his retirement. Just moved on it seems.

Last match I saw from him was from a qualifier (Kespa cup, I think, in 2014) He played Stork and lost 2-1 He was kind of winning the engagements (microing well), but was floating like 1,5k-2k resources and far from being maxed (sucking balls at macroing), meaning he had no reinforcements in time, giving time to stork to recover and eventually win. Was kind of pitiful to watch, though.

He was one of the closest SC2 had, if you put it at that. Especially with the 4 GSL wins and other tournaments. You can't knock how great of a player he was and how long he was on top for.

I am not super knowledgeable about early-mid bw, but these guys must've been some kind of demi gods to be put so high above Mvp?

At that time there was like 14 GSL events per year. When Boxer was in his prime there were only 6 OSL in 3 years (boxer won 2 and came second in other 2). There where only 4 MSL (boxer won 1 and came third in other). Also he won 2 WCG finals at that time. Boxer went 17 consecutive n°1 in kespa rank. So if you have to decide who was the more dominant player there is no doubt it was boxer and his carreer was longer and more prolific.

No I seriously looked at the numbers and circumstances of what they had to do, Mvp's career was better. Or as realistically close as you can get when comparing 2 different scenes in 2 different times in 2 different games.

If you want something to compare with, 2010 Flash. Regardless the term 'bonjwa' started with and died with Savior. Anything people try to apply the term to in the modern sense is moot and useless.

He also was well prepared...after Nada got dumped by MKP after really beating him but losing 2 base trades where MKP floated and had a much smaller army, MVP simply said...oh yeah...just leave 2 tanks at home with about 8 marines and lots of turrets. Well MKP base trade drops died horribly to this. Then he just took good risks to cheese players when his star was fading due to lack of practice time. I mean he cheesed Naniwa twice and Squirtle at least twice in the same season. That was no longer the dominate MVP, he turned a new page and became the mind game champion. But what most impressed me is that when he said he wasn't even able to practice at all and he runs into Innovation the new macro god of terran in the semis of WCS and loses 2-3 if I remember and was basically able to go blow for blow with him...that series could have gone either way...what if MVP had actually still been fully healthy?

I'd say the most legendary series of all time was Mvp vs Life where Life won and solidified his position as the first (1st) greatest SC2 player of all time.

It's really close right now, and I don't see why Life will stop winning titles for years to come. I'm sure he will surpass him in most people's eyes eventually. But right now I still think Mvp is the GOAT

MVP, NesTea, Polt, MMA and MC are all (easily) ahead of Life for GOAT in respect of all SC2. Though, Life's current form is pretty impressive.
