Hello everyone, I would like to announce that we are planning on hosting a monthly tournament that will (hopefully) make people play the european ladder and take it more seriously. March will be the first month we hold this tournament and we want to use this as a test run, so don’t expect everything to be perfect and please provide feedback on things that the tournament can improve on.
EU Ladder tournament -Monthly buy in (50euro) send money to Rifkin on paypal with acc name, players will be added to a group as well as a skype chat -Weekly ranking which awards points, 4 or 8 players(depending on the number of sign ups) with most points at the end of the month get in the final tournament. -Money incentive for #1 at the end of each week (2.5% of total prize pool) -No barcodes, but smurfs are allowed. -Points Awarded at end of each week (sunday 23.59 CET) Top 10 gets points, rank 1 gets 10 points, rank 10 gets 1 point. -Sign up for the tournament - Start of the month(have to sign up before Friday 6 march 23:59 CET ) -If a player is caught being impolite on his account or a different account he might get points deducted -If you decide to enter the tournament, you are only allowed to play on 1 account on the ladder, if you are found playing on another account it will be an immediate dq from tournament. -Following a ladder reset, we will use masters ranking(points) to award that week’s winner -If players are tied in points at the end of the month, a bo5 match between them will decide who gets invited. -Rifkin is the admin, he sets the tournament rules and awards points at the end of the week.
Have the tournament a week within the month ending(work around players schedule) Top 8 gets invited if 16+ people sign up, top 4 gets invited if less people sign up
You can sign up by sending 50 euros to MapControlco@gmail.com on paypal Attach a note to it saying your username and your battle net link for example: battlenet://starcraft/profile/2/5805463210458873856
The point system is as follows:
![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/JeizQ41.png)
prize pool split 4 man tournament: 5% for #1 gm at end of each week #4 10% #3 15% #2 25% #1 30%
prize pool split 8 man tournament 2.5% for #1 gm at end of each week rank 5-8 get 5% #4 10% #3 15% #2 20% #1 25%
Players that signed up so far: -Targa -Harstem -Major -Marinelord -bunny -snute -CatZ

So the weekly ranking is determined by amount of ladder points?
The fact that there's a buy-in without a guarantee of making the month-end tournament may be questionable. I'd imagine you'd get more support if the buy-in was only for the tournament. I'm not sure people will want to buy in to a contest to see who gets the most ladder points, but I could be wrong.

The goal is to get people to take ladder more serious and add a competitive environment to the ladder. As we do not have a sponsor we use buy ins to generate a pricepool. We take a screenshot of the ladder ranking each week and give points based on ranking.

Awesome idea to make the ladder a more competitive place with some stake. Good job !

Which ladder? EU is supposed to be very strong already, so I don't see the value of this unless it is an AM thing.
A version of this would be fun for similar skilled player communities.

OMG! That is so fucking awesome!!

-If you decide to enter the tournament, you are only allowed to play on 1 account on the ladder, if you are found playing on another account it will be an immediate dq from tournament.
Is this rule really necessary ? Some of us like to play on 2 different account, especially for streaming and secret practice. I would participate for sure without this rule :/
|
That's awesome. I hope there will be a lot of sign ups. I also like the fact that the number one in GM gets 5 percent extra no matter what. He's the number one after all yo.

Fantastic initiative, good luck guys!

Finally someone smart started something great!! good job guys|!!

Cool idea, look forward to watching it.

Very nice work BTTV! You guys come up with a lot of original and interesting ways to support the pro SC2 scene, keep it up!
|
Cool idea, hope you get at least 16 players to play.
|
very cool initiative
since no barcodes are allowed i m hoping for some streaming action by the participants

This sounds amazing, would love watching these tournaments. Its a hard time keeping track of all the smaller tournaments going on and I rarely know if its any interesting players playing in them, thus i rarely watch them. On the other hand I feel that I miss more interesting tournaments, if this works like inteneded it will be another tournament I will try to watch if I have time =)
Sounds like a good way for skilled players to market themselves (and their sponsors) even more which is a very good thing for those that make it into the tournament. Hopefully that will help this tournament get lots of signups, if not now than maybe in a month or two.
|
It doesn't effect me personally, but I really like the caveat of no bar codes, I understand why pro's do it though.

Somehow the OP does not mention the server it's played on... I take that it is going to be EU, since it's entry fee is in Euros and most the players are on EU... But Major and Catz are both participating.
And, a slight workaround for the rule that you cannot smurf would be to just play on the other servers (with lag) for practice. Or you could always make an anonymous smurf and I doubt they'd be able to figure it out
|
Might be all servers? Cos server wouldnt really matter would it

NA is a lot easier to get a high rank because there arent as many good players, I assume it is going to based off EU ladder
|
Interesting initiative, good luck have fun you guys

This is a great idea, putting the ladder to some good use as well! Hope to be able to watch some action!

This is an excellent idea. I'm all for something like this.

Haha excellent graphics, Harstem! Great idea, really excited for more people to take ladder seriously, making it somewhat of a miniature tournament every time you play

Are you going to call it Bladder heroes in short?

Why a picture of Happy whereas he doesn't accept?
Nice initiative, maybe more ladder stream ?

This is really cool, but one really important question... which ladder is this on? If you let people just do whichever region they want to, some players might just go to NA to get easier points.

Oh sheesh, this is super cool
Good notion rifkin, we'll see how it plays out

I have seen this question a lot and i do think its meant to be on EU but if you think about it, even if just the few player so far that signed up play on NA it will make NA ladder that much better (since everyone thinks its the worst) and isn't that the point of this to make ladder better and even more competitive. Also I don't think its a bad thing because if some players play on NA to get free point then other players will come to do the same and just make NA as hard as EU, which isn't a bad thing because again its making ladder better.
Also i hope this becomes huge GL.

yea i would say so but it doesn't hurt to make it even more competitive and serious, all it does it make the game even better. I honestly think this could be really cool if it works out but we'll have to wait and see.

bunny is going to be very very happy about this hahaha. Great idea, fantastic to see such a bright and positive community trying to incorporate new ways to create motivation for players. Really appreciate it when a group of people can come together and develop an idea that benefits the community.

Hmm.. I see 7 justice league heroes.. but only 5 face pics

This is really cool. The rules aren't laid out completely clearly, and there will probably be things to clarify, but this is a sweet project.

So where's Happy and Kas?
If ForGG was still in EU he would have taken positions 1-5.
