Official Team Ascension 2015 Team House Information Thread
Important Information: We currently have 2 players ready to move in. We are looking for 2-3 people who can commit/lock in for a move in date within the next 30-40 days. Our deadline is March 1st, but we don't necessarily have to all be at the house by that time.
Cost breakdown per person is available here.
Patreon can be found here.
I'm happy to announce that since our last update, Team Ascension has made a lot of progress in our quest to setup a North American team house. A potential location has been selected and crowd funding efforts are up and running. Our goal is to provide a facility where players of all backgrounds, semi professional or professional, younger or older, can practice the game they love and be surrounded by people who share their drive.
Players in the house will be actively streaming and practicing with each other for events, online and offline.
Finally, thank you to everyone that has expressed interest in this project so far. Team Ascension and I will be working 110% to make this happen, and any help from the public would mean the world to us and the potential residents!
-Travis "AprilTerran" Yang
The current location we're looking at is in the Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri. It's about 3 hours from Kansas City, and 2 hours from Springfield.
Currently Team Ascension is directing all financial support we receive, towards the team house. This means that regardless of who lives there (even if you’re not on the team), we will still be working to lower their individual costs.
If you have any inquiries or are interested in living here, please email travis.y@teamascension.co. We are committed to transparency and will answer everything to the best of our ability.

Looks cool. hope this works out for you guys. Do you have any personal rewards? overall stuff is cool, but maybe a T-shirt or personalized video for like 10-15$ patreon-ers could possibly help your funding. the community loves that stuff.

Thank you for the kind words and suggestion! Unfortunately for the jerseys, they cost about $25 right now (including shipping) through our partners at Ownaj. We'll be brainstorming rewards these next few days!

So excited this is finally happening!

Yeah, i get it. it doesn't have to be a T-shirt, but i know a lot of people like tangible things they can see/touch when they donate. knowing your helping reach the milestones is cool, but it's awesome to get something personal for helping out. You could even do things like they get 1 2v2 a month with any pro on your roster, replay packs from your players, etc.

I hear you can get Google Fiber in KC. 1000 mbps...

Were literally going to need that at this point especially in the summer when many others are coming for a boot camp type thing.

That is a lot to pay unless the house is full, I hope all the players will be making nice donations from streaming!

Noregret, Ruff, and I are gonna do our best to hold it down for a 4th and 5th player, theres lots who are considering its just a matter of finding people who are serious,

Good luck to you guys, hopefully you actually find enough committed players to stay for the long-term.

Only couple hours away from there

1500 a month for a house like that? Missouri is cheap as fuck
|
Didn't know Noragrets and kamker were fulltime.
Good luck to everyone involved looks like fun!
|
$1300 a month for a house... I'm getting ripped off in Chicago
|
Best of luck! Looks awesome :D
|
My main concern is that if the house is in central US I'd assume that the connection to EU/KR is gonna be shit, no?
But regardless, GL to you. Shit looks pretty dank.
|
When I saw how nice the house was, I was thinking damn these guys are fools. That must cost an arm and a leg. :D But, looks like a great project. I'm tempted to move in. Pretty sick that you guys are doing something like this in the current sc2 climate.
|
Great news. Best of luck with the project
|
This is insanely awesome! I really hope it works out and we end up seeing more of you guys!!
|
Every team house should be in the Midwest unless you're a big team that actually has money. Housing is retarded lyrics cheap in those areas. I'm guessing 5 people with decent stream followings could clear 1,500/month easily. I mean 5 people who can do well in online cups could dent the rent by prize money alone.

Nothing good is going to come out of this.
Hopefully they can prove me wrong.

How am I an idiot? I have seen many of these hopeful teamhouse thing in the past and they all have failed.
Only setting a team house will work is with large sponsors or some money on your back. But then, why would they sponsor this clan...
It's funny how people get excited over teamhouses only to face the reality that it's not going to work out.
Usually, scamming is involved in the process.
Everyone with realistic view SHOULD see it as not viable , and even if they succeed to get a housing, it will not last long. There are problems like food, nerds living together, lack of performance/revenue, etc.
Instead of getting hyped about teamhouses, how about you get an education here in America that's free if you study?

Specialist, when we decided to start this project, we were all well aware of past failures, but does that mean we shouldn't even try?
I'm sure you can see this is a flawed thought process. We are well aware that this might not work, as in life, many things don't go as planned. However, we are going to give it our 110%, take in as much advice and suggestions as we can, and if it doesn't happen, we can at least say we tried our best.
I'm a full time student as well, but I know that a college education (or any education level) is not what defines us. This opportunity is for people who want to enjoy their time in a way they feel is best.

I am pretty sure Specialist has been around long enough for his post to hold some value... I don't think he was trying to destroy anyone's hope that this thing works out. I think he was simply bringing the reality that crowd funding a project like this really only works for teams like ROOT, and for well understood reasons.
Of course, that doesn't mean anyone should write off a project like this... Players looking to make a living from the game, or go "full time", have to try something. If you guys think this is your best avenue then I don't think anyone is going to try to tell you not to do it.
That said, I do think you guys might have a rocky start, so I wish you some luck with your project. Some of your players do have reasonably popular streams so that might help you get started. (I would also maybe revise some of the things people receive through the patreon feed... they are kind of out of order/small baring the $50 donation which seems like a good deal for people who want to support the team assuming you are sporting nice jerseys)

If only this place were in San Diego, I would definitely be down to stay!
|
I think this is a great idea. I'm looking forward to finding out if they had more than Kamker and Bioice as legit players (pre merge with LvD). I live in Springfield, so I've been by the location a lot. It's pretty.

could I live here if I don't play SC but just need a cheap place to have a home base?

I have a super tiny 1 bedroom apt in Seattle for $1800/mo. Haha. Better than a lot of places though!
