DISCLAIMER: This is my first time posting news. So, please give me any feedback on how I can better present the news. Enjoy! :D

(Wiki)IEM Season IX - Taipei/Asian Final Qualifier

For those who don't check the liquipedia as often as I do, here's a quick recap.

In the Asian Final Qualifiers, Maru and Innovation had breezed through their qualifiers and ended up on the Winner's Finals, which automatically grant them qualification spots.

(T)Maru overcame his ZvT weakness by beating (Z)HyuN and (Z)Life and pushed San to the Loser bracket.

(T)INnoVation crushed his lesser Terran opponents (T)Cure and (T)MMA and defeated (P)Classic for the second spot.

(P)San demonstrated his competitiveness by defeating the rising SKT1 star (Z)Dark and high tier Protosses (P)herO[jOin] and Classic.

FAQ:

Why do this recap?

I wanted to do these quick recaps, because I noticed on that whenever I do FPL, I have to spend a lot of time doing research on liquipedia and aliguac. So, I want to do quick recaps, so those who are more casual towards the Starcraft scene can have easier and quicker access to the information regarding certain players and their momentum.

Also, this tournament was NOT in the liquipedia front page. So, I have decided to write a quick blurb about it!

Like my contributions? Let me know, and I am willing to do more!

I love the idea of these short recaps. One more thing though: it'd be great if you could post the liquipedia link in your thread.

Very impressive results that show Maru worked on his TvZ and San went full clutch and defeated three favored opponents.

You should stay as neutral as possible. Words like "lesser" are mostly meaningless in this game. The margin of error allowed for victory is incredibly miniscule, esp. at the pro level. Thus, whoever is better and worse is highly debatble and near impossible to determine as of now.

You should condense your sentences. Eliminate words like has, have, etc. It will make you appear more professional, and the site, more prestigous.

Thanks for the work.

Impresed by Maru actually qualifying for something, nice to see INno make it (altho his last two forays into IEM were Ro8 0-3 exits). And San is someone I can root for, but I wish herO or Rain or Dark qualified D:

Thanks for the recap. However, you need to make sure that you're not introducing bias into this (it's supposed to just sum up some of the stuff that happened), since you're only stating facts. Words like "overcame", "crushed", "breezed", etc. introduce these biases.

Grats to Innovation, Maru, and San for qualifying, and to Classic for qualifying as the inevitable replacement after Maru drops out again.

Maruuuu! Hopefully he makes up for the time he missed by not going to Toronto.

Good lineup so far! Great fan-favorite Terran lineup!
I used to play random, but for you I play very specifically.

Agreed. San is currently one of the top Protoss players at the moment, having qualified for both major KR tournaments and doing quite well in PL thus far (I think he's only played as an ace, and he won that).

And Maru & Innovation? Do they need any explanation?? Though, I would have loved to see a player like Dark do well, given his recent hype.

Im sorry but i beg to differ. Phrases like those are fine if not necessary imo. If player A crushed player B, I think it's fine to say that player A crushed player B. It's not in any way an overstatement imo. If he didn't use those words it would make this recap into not as interesting as it seems especially to casual fans like me. It makes me excited to actually search for and watch those games even more if anything.

i dont think there are many TL articles that are unbiased though... (albeit they normally have some funny qualifier statement about it being in author's opinion or ready known bias about that author).

I'm actually quite happy with the use of words 'ovecame/crushed/breezed' if it is a genuine subjective opinion. Vague description of 'won/defeated' is a tad boring, and if a hyperbole word is used and i like a player, then i'd probably be more inclined to watch that game (eg. if Maru 'crushed' Life, i'd want to watch that game :p)

Thanks for recap

yea i don't really think stuff like "crushed" or "breezed" sounds biased at all to be honest? it's all in context. you can sound biased with a totally professional article and you can also be objective using colorful terms like "crushed"

i think OP just needs to make his writing clean and concise and it will be fine, it's not like we have too many people doing recap threads so it's welcome
