We all remember how well foreigners did before when they were seeded into GSL (okay Naniwa is the exception to that rule he had one insanely good season)

Good to see some non-Korean representation in a Korean league again, especially players like Scarlett and Jim who have big followings in the foreign scene and China. While I doubt they will be too successful it is a step in the right direction to bring more interest.

Would that be the season where he made Top 8, or the season where he made Top 8 again? Might you be mistakenly thinking of the time Idra made Top 8? Or maybe you're thinking of the season Jinro made Top 4? Or the other season Jinro made Top 4? You might just be thinking of the time Huk was Top 8. Or one of the 2 other times he was Top 16.

I miss Jinro so much ;_;

Cheering for him was some of the most fun I ever had in Sc2

I love this post so much. I think sometimes we forget the dedication and skill of the few foreigners who went to Korea and tried their hardest in the early days of SC2.

These guys should be remembered with awe and reverence, the way we look back today on Grrrrr and Elky and Legionnaire when they did similarly awesome things in Brood War.

Also, mad respect to Huk for still battling it out and trying his hardest when everyone else in that list has retired.

Jinro, Idra and HuK were not seeded. They qualified through their own merits.

That being said, I don't think any foreigner will be able to do what Jinro has done. He is truly the best foreigner to live. It's a shame he retired because he could achieve way more than Stephano, Snute, Scarlett or whatever other foreigner that people over hype and over rate.

The skill gap between foreigners and koreans is much wider now than what it was 2-3 years ago. I don't think that right now any foreigner has the skill of an average code S ro32 player. Obviously they could still make it far if they are lucky/play better than usual.

After the 3 Open Seasons no foreigner has made it through the qualifiers. Every foreign player has either been seeded into Code A or Code S.

In my opinion she should have to qualify. However, Starleague can do whatever they want. I can see the business sense behind inviting popular players.

If Scarlett popular in Korea? Do they care about foreigners there?

While that's true Naniwa did get a ro8 qualifying him for the next GSL. Obviously not the same as qualifying from the start but he also earned his place

EDIT: Also for those curious
Jinro
TLO
DeathAngel
Macsed
and a few other guys I can't remember off the top of my head were 1 match (all 4 of them 1 game IIRC) away from qualifying in various seasons

No clue. She's pretty popular internationally though.

could be interesting if he shows up in his IEM Shenzen form (when he beat Taeja, Life, and San in a row)

Ofc I have my favorites to win the tournament (herO, Bbyong, and anyone else from CJ along with FlaSH), but I'm really hoping to see Jim and Scarlett go the distance here and take at least a few wins. I hope they take this opportunity super seriously and practice/train their hearts out and really give us a nice showing!

Also, out of all of the Europeans in Europe, they couldn't find a single one that didn't have a scheduling conflict? I can understand that they would only want to invite one of the very best Europeans, but it's pretty hard to believe... They probably only spent a couple weeks trying to contact people and telling them that they had only a few days to decide. That's all I could think of.
