Player Roster: Aleksey "White-Ra" Krupnik - Captain Dmitriy "Dimaga" Filipchuk Svyatoslav "HappyZerG" Vlasyuk Anton "montaNa" Alex Alexander "Tork" Motrunich
Team motto: Never fall down.
"Heroes of the Storm, a fun and addictive game that, in my opinion, is the future. Since the game is new, it is advisable to create your own team and start training. Whilst we just enjoy the game, but before all the guys put serious challenges for the future, gaming experience and competent approach to the organization of the training process should yield good results. So I'll see you soon. "- Tt.White-Ra (he say it on Igromir/ComicCon 2014 Moscow)
"We have assembled a team of friends and good people, so I think that we will succeed." - cSc.DIMAGA
"My name is Svyatoslav Vlasyuk will be a lot of fun to play a new game in a steep-up!"- HappyZerg
Meh. What a waste. These guys should stick around for LoTV. They are experts in RTS not MOBA. It's a very different thing (see MarineKing). Their fans are RTS guys too. Anyway, Hero's seems like a me-too MOBA now that DoTA 2 and LoL have that market tied up. What a waste.

Maybe they find it more fun then SC2? Can't really be a waste if they enjoy HotS more

Professional gaming isn't about fun. Anything becomes tedious when you have to do it for work.
Will be interesting to see what happens with Heroes going forwards though, these kind of announcements will definitely help it gain some traction as a potential competitive game.

LoL and DoTA 2 may have that market tied up, but that market isn't tied down to any one brand.
Once Blizzards HotS moba releases they will garner a lot of the market. Just on their name alone they will take 25% of the market.
White-ra and Dimaga see it already, and probably because they have played a lot of HotS alpha.
And its not uncommon for traditional pro athletes retire in one sport, only to start another as an amateur (i.e. Michael Jordan). These two know they can't compete with the best Koreans, and even the up and comers from Europe can give them a run for their money.
But I do agree I hoped they would have stuck around for LoTV before they retire/switch platform.
I still think these two are going in the right direction. I can't wait to see their team play competitively. White-ra's brain is probably conceiving some "speshul taktiks" for Heroes of the Storm.
Sad to see WhiteRa and DIMAGA not be active in SC2 anymore but as long as they found a game they enjoy and will continue to be involved in esports I'm okay with that.

I don't like moba also, but they are insanely popular. Face it, SC2, or rts in general, is a niche market.
Hey at least its not a dead market. I will always love SC2 over any game.

RTS used to be a cornerstone of PC gaming. Now it's a "niche market". I guess its going the way of point and click adventure games.

Why would Liquid make a hots team? Was some contract signed when sc2 came out that Liquid had to promote and open subforums/websites for every single thing that blizzard shits out?

Well no, but most Blizzard games are popular, so that's reason enough to create a team for it.
However, we still have to see how good Storm is going to be. If it becomes popular, you can bet some of the smaller moba (e.g. Smite, HoN) are going to die.

the cool part of being a dead game like Starcraft is that it cannot die

Warcraft 3 was popular, we didn't have LiquidWar pop up.
gg.net were the guys that jumped on every bandwagon that came along. If the way Liquid did business for 10 years before sc2 came out gave us the site we have today, why the hell go down this road of supporting vaguely competitive games a very small handful of people have played? Why not wait for this game to come out, and if it naturally grows from the passion in its community then start following it?
I have practically never even heard about Heroes of the Storm outside of TeamLiquid. This is the only place on the internet outside of maybe a few posts on reddit and I think one article I saw on Eurogamer where even slightly positive things (or anything at all) are said about the game.
Don't get me wrong, WhiteRa and Dimaga can go play Competative Solitare for all I care, they can do whatever they want. My question was, why would TL fund a pro team for a game barley going out of alpha? There are plenty of other games that are extremely popular and don't get pro-teams in their alpha stage.

78% of the stats you read on the internet are made up.

when did you last see Ra play? or Dimaga playing at a decent level regarding his skills? They were huge but I think we lost them already
I wonder if Heroes will even take off. Like I played the Alpha and wasn't impressed. Dota 2 is just much better hands down. I want Blizzard to just make LoTV already!!!!!!!!!!! Or something new but epic, not another Moba.

The esports scene was also very different when Warcraft 3 was popular. It wasn't feasible for any esports organization in the early 2000s to start multiple teams. The market was just way too small. Most teams during that era was focused on one title.
Almost 15 years later, and we have a sudden growth in esports, garnering millions of audience around the world with games like LoL, Smite, HoN, Destiny, CS:GO, and countless other titles in the works. Now its feasible to invest in multiple platforms, because each of them has a decent player base. Hell even Smite probably has a decent community. The esports market is very large now, and will only grow bigger as the younger generation pay more attention to esports.
To answer your question, TL would fund a pro team for Storm because they are betting it will be a successful game; played by millions; and watched by many more. As well, many TL staff/team probably already played the Storm alpha, and probably enjoy playing it right now. That is incentive enough to start a team. Essentially they are betting that Blizzard will make another great game, and if I had a million dollars, I would take a gamble and invest in a Storm team.
To be honest HotS is much more appealing to me then Dota and Lol, because the game is faster, less technical but might still have a bit of depth (but this must stand the trial of time...).

White-Ra was actually streaming some SC2 the other day, and was getting a fairly large audience. And he seemed just as crisp and quick as he has been the last couple years. But maybe he has changed his focus to a new game just to get some variety in a new market. And I would think that he would be back for LotV so i'm not worried

WhiteRa has high streaming numbers under the SC2 section. He still draws a rather large crowd under the assumption he was actually streaming SC2. He's a big name and a legend in the foreign community. He's just someone I like knowing is still around.
The article isn't "We retire to play Heroes" it is more like "Hey guys we are 5 friends and we love play Heroes togheter".
There's also to add that all of them is not doing that much in Sc2. White-Ra is out of WCS since the beginning of 2013, DIMAGA after a great Season 1 in 2013 did anything in 2014, HappyZerg achieved Challenger in S1 in 2014 and nothing else. Isn't impressive that they are trying to do something else then just try and try and try and fail in Sc2.
There's no point in White Ra and Dimaga playing SC2 because they simply can't compete in terms of skill. It's been like that for a long time they can't hope to be successful ever again. Not a bad move I suppose
This is positive, they are still doing what they like and hopefully they are going to do well at it. I don't understand some of the people here, because that can't possibly be a bad thing.
edit: it takes passion and intense dedication more than anything to be a SC2 progamer who can barely win matches against some of the mid-range korean progamers, and when it's gone it's just better to move to something else.

because people like to project their own petty biases onto the rest of the world. it's very important that everyone like the same things they like, otherwise the world will explode. that's why you have to say bad things to people who like games you don't like
And I love Mobas, quake is a great moba, online poker is a fantastic moba...stop using the word moba please? This is a bullshit term like technical alpha.

Well its a guess based on Blizzard's previous track records. Heroes of the Storm will be insanely popular. How popular or how much of the market will it garner is questionable, but I highly doubt it will be a small percentage.
And why should I stop using the term moba? Its the only definition for this particular kind of games. I understand its a term that can encompass nearly every kind of game, but I don't think another term was created for the LoL and DotA 2 games.
On topic, I wonder if White-ra and Dimaga's team will be playing at Blizzcon's Storm tournament. Should be interesting.
No its a definition for well every online game that you can play against other gamers. And its made up because Riot is to pussy to call them selfe a dota type game.
And I agree that Blizzard games are popular. Thats why so many base their career on their products. From youtubers, homepages and gamers. Will it happen here too? We will see soon. I think its just sad that the dota game with the highest competition gets dodged for a dota clone that is not even out. i expected pro players to search for the competition but well, maybe its to late for them to play LoL or Dota.
