It's still a computer game in the end that he's playing as a job so yes, it's essentially a job but unlike jobs that you can work till retirement, even entry level ones, you can only do gaming for x amount of time before you have to retire and move on with life to work another job or get an education etc... I don't believe his comment was meant to be disrespectful though I don't see what's there to disrespect.

I don't believe his comment was meant to be disrespectful though I don't see what's there to disrespect. the fact that he put the emphasis on "computer games" just shows how little he thinks of the profession. whether or not he meant it that way is another story, but that statement is disrespectful. if effort was the ceo of apple he would not be saying "is a great reason to retire from managing one of the biggest company's in the world", but the fact that he pointed out that retiring from computer games should be a no brainer decision just shows a lack of understanding of how important the job is to actual progamers. if you didnt mean any of this then i apologise, but surely i must not be the only one who took that sentence to mean that playing computer games for a job is amateur compared to "real" jobs and no, i wasnt trolling at the start, it was a legitimate question. im curious as to how sick effort's mother is

You can easily apply that logic to other jobs though a video gaming job has a much shorter life so the statement makes more sense. Also, cmon, are you really comparing making decision for Apple to someone playing a video game T.T They don't even come close at all... It's one thing to respect the players which I'm sure most people on TL do but it's another to put them on that high of a pedestal when comparing them to other really high end jobs. In other words, please don't make that kind of comparison.
