He is by far one of the most consistent Starcraft II players in the world right now. Did you forget how recently Taeja 3-0'd Zest? He won the most recent IEM, Shenzhen, and came really close to winning the RedBull Detroit. I really think if you are going to rank someone it should be on recent results, not overall achievements. Consistent because he doesn't play with the big boys in Korea anymore. He left Korea to win some money in Europe and America before retiring very soon™ Zest Flash $O$ and herO are more than a match for him and are rightly ranked above him. Like Licther said in the rank, Polt's TvT is not even said to be that good and he rolled Taeja in the final. Also if you look at who they beat to get there to the final of that tournament.... He is a good player, no question. But is he better than the 4 people above him. No not for me he isn't. You make it sound like just because Taeja has moved out of Korea he hasn't been playing top tier Koreans. He's beaten Zest, Solar, Innovation, rain, life (too many times to count), sOs, etc. multiple times. And it's completely unfair to say Taeja isn't doing well because he didn't win every single tournament he entered in. Oh he lost in the finals against Polt? Polt's tvt sucks? Taeja must be in a slump. Taeja lost a map to hendralisk? Wow he should have 2-0'd him, what a scrub. The fact that in the most recent IEM tournament Taeja bested Zest 3-0 tells me that Taeja should be above Zest in the ranking. It's sad that people keep dismissing it as just "zest not himself, he is usually much better". People often forget when players make mistakes, it's because the opponent forces it out of them.

Outside of the Zest series and beating Life a few times (whose form has been sporadic ever since HoTS came out), he barely beat Solar, traded series with Inno, lost to sOs, Action, and Dear (I'll ignore the losses to the likes of Pigbaby just like I'll ignore the beatings he gave to the foreign Koreans and foreigners during this time). So, no, he hasn't played Koreans still training for the GSL that often in tournaments these past months. However, no one is saying that Taeja isn't a top 5 Terran right now or anything like that, but the person you're responding to was responding to another person saying that Taeja should #1 in these rankings based on recent results, and that's highly questionable.

Yea so.... I just made a long ass reply to this comment and then it didn't go through for some reason. But anyways to recap... The players I had listed, Taeja beat the majority of them in 2014 (with the exception of sOs and rain). Go look at liquipedia, a more reliable source. (I actually listed out each win but I am too lazy to do it again). And to dismiss Taeja's wins versus top level Koreans (Innovation, Zest, and Solar), that of which are all in the Ro16 in the current GSL, just because he lost to pigbaby, a Korean, who went on to win WCS america season 2, is just plain ridiculous. FYI: I did respond to the right person as I was the one who said Taeja should be #1. However, that is just my opinion. The author of this article has his own, I respect that.

Your data is not correct for one thing. Taeja apparent only lost to all the Protoss with a larger portion attribution to the patch. No one won Protoss at that point in case you didn't notice. A close series to solar? Don't you know solar 3:0 innovation just moment before? Not to mention both in GSL Ro 16 now. The GSL hype is not because their player is definitely better, it's just they have more top players which make it so hard. To sum up, no way taeja not in top 2

Flash hasn't really proven to be a weekender type of guy where he has to adjust on the fly. He strikes me as the type whose main strength is in preparing for a specific match (i.e proleague).
