Today we are excited to announce that DreamHack will be expanding further by adding an event hosted in France next year! From May 8th to 10th 2015, DreamHack will take over France, hosting both a LAN party as well as international esports competitions, DreamHack France is guaranteed to be massive!

DreamHack is a global leader in electronic sports, and record holder in the Guinness Book of World Records for hosting the world’s biggest LAN party. Created in 1994, DreamHack has since expanded internationally, now hosting events in Spain (DreamHack Valencia), Romania (DreamHack Bucharest), and Russia (DreamHack Moscow). DreamHack France will be the fifth country to be hosting DreamHack events.

“It is with great pride and joy that we are able to announce the DreamHack France will take place next year. DreamHack events are highly anticipated, and to be given the opportunity to organize an event on French soil is both an honor and a challenge, DreamHack is truly a unique experience for all video games fans,” says Jean-Christophe Arnaud, General Manager at Malorian SARL and DreamHack France event coordinator.

“To finally have a DreamHack event in France is something that makes me both personally happy as well as happy for French esports fans,” Said Robert Ohlén, CEO of DreamHack, “France being one of the pioneers in esports with a a rich history of great events. Allons-y mes amis!”

Full details are yet to be released, but for now we can announce that DreamHack France will host a large LAN party, and a fair dedicated to video games and esport competitions with international competitor and big prizes, in short everything that makes DreamHack.

DreamHack Moscow – 13-14 September, Stadium Live, Moscow, Russia
DreamHack Stockholm – 26-27 September, Stockholm Globe Arenas, Stockholm, Sweden
Dreamhack Masters Bucharest 2014 – 1-2 November 2014, Bucharest, Rumania
DreamHack Winter 2014 – 27-30 November, Elmia, Jönköping, Sweden
Dreamhack Bucharest 2015 – 25–26 April 2015, Bucharest, Rumania
DreamHack France 2015 – 8-10 May 2015, TBA, France
DreamHack Summer 2015 – 13-16 June 2015, Elmia, Jönköping, Sweden
DreamHack Valencia, 2015 – 16-19 July 2015, Feria de Valencia, Valencia, Spain
Dreamhack Masters Bucharest 2015 – 24-25 October 2015, Bucharest, Rumania
DreamHack Winter 2015 – 26-29 November 2015, Elmia, Jönköping, Sweden

More events in 2015 to be announced.

DreamHack is the World’s Largest Computer Festival. DreamHack’s roots and core is the LAN party, with the major events DreamHack Summer and Winter, where participants bring their own computers and connect to the Internet in a large local area network which basically BECOMES the Internet by sheer scale. DreamHack is also Sweden’s first consumer-oriented trade show / event / festival for computer games, game consoles and computers. The events are a platform for tournaments in eSports, knowledge and creative competitions, concerts by famous music artists, lectures by game developers and much more.

Fuck yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah !

Year 2015: booked.

EDIT: On a serious note, I wonder how Iron Squids and other french tournaments impacted that (if at all, though I think they at least had some weight).

I think Iron squid had a great impact on it, it showed there is quite a big Esport viwerbase in France. I just hope when Sc2 have to compete vs alot of other games, that the frence still chouse Sc2!

Please do NOT do it in Paris.

It's always in Paris. France is so much more than Paris and Paris is so ridiculously expensive.

Well, JudgeHype (french Blizzard Fansite) says that it will be held from 8th to 10th May 2015 (according to press release) but it's the only site that I've seen any date so far.

JudgeHype adds that the place is not yet known. (more info here : http://hearthstone.judgehype.com/news/la-dreamhack-arrive-en-france-du-8-au-10-mai-2015/)

Yes, Paris is shit, but that's also the most convenient (transportation in the first place) place to run such events. Not to mention if you want a proper media coverage and other gosu stuff.... like.. mhh.. oh wait, Paris is definitely shit!

I'll be there, no matter what.

Really curious to see how big they will go and if it will be a recurring thing. Maybe some competition for ESWC ? Since they droped DotA2 and SC2 and are not doing Heartstone, it would be great to have some international tournament on those games again in France.

My guess is porte de versailles or The parc des expo in Villepinte.
Porte de versailles would be the best tho ( they got good optical fiber, its actually IN fucking Paris and in a good neighborhood (ie : good image ) and they have tons of halls to chose from )

God i can't wait, everyone don't worry : we'll write you tons of guide on how to get there and where to stay (and good kebab addresses )...

Tbh Marseille is the only city that could prevent me from attending this DH. Paris is the most convenient, I'll be ok if it's Lyon or Lille.

Took them long enough, but yeah, happy nonetheless. At least we're guaranteed to have a sold-out event in France, which would look really good on camera if DH is looking for more potential sponsors.

Paris also have a fucking huge airport.
I mean Parisian airport manages 80 millions passenger (and that's only one ) while Lyon and Mar only manage 8...

Also getting a french crowd isn't too hard, you just have to spew a few french words during your speech and everyone will dance in the palm of your hand.

Oh and lets not miss two of the most important questions :
Where will the afterparty will take place ? (meltdown is probably too small for the whole DH crew ) social club ? queen ?
And what KIND OF CHAMPAGNE WILL ROBERT BUY ? (this is france, you can't trick us with cheap stuff )

Isn't wine as cheap as water there? Carbonated wine can't be that much more expensive (except the most luxe brands).

Bad wine is cheap. Decent stuff gets expensive fast ! Also, champagne is not "carbonated wine"... ;_;

Lol, no. You can get awful wine for maybe €1.5 for a liter. But it's undrinkable for a normal human.

You can get decent wines for €3-4 minimum (75 cl), 5 times the price of a bottle of water.

It's the good thing about Paris. By train, it's 3h or less from London, Amsterdam, Brussels, western Germany. Pretty good location, even for non french esport fans.

The catch is the price of the hotels for visitors and of the venue for DH.

Well if you are willing to go in the suburbs you can find an hostel at 25-35 euros per night.
Paris itself would be 40-45 euros per night.
So its ok i guess, also i really depends on where would DH be.

(Lowest price hostels ofc )

Anyhow your fellow French TLers will be there to guide everyone on where you should stay and how to find low prices

They said me Lyon because Paris is to expensive.

But paris is a guaranteed HUGE success offline wise.

I lol'ed.
I hope it won't be in Paris. And I hope also that french crowd won't be disappointed by english casters.

Actually, I am rooting for it to be in Paris, that is the closest to where I live in Germany. :D

And DreamHack Paris sound better than DreamHack Lyon. haha.

Even though Paris isn't the best city for youth hostels, you can find beds in those at even less than 20 euros per night if you start looking early. I mean you're probably going to spend the week end in a venue anyway or at least roaming around the city, so I don't see why you would need any kind of fancy bedroom.
And there is always the couchsurfing option which is very active in Paris ! Cheap is possible even in this city.

FInally a Dreamhack that might actually be affordable to travel too. French crowds always look lively too, should be a good one.

I have slowly lost interest in SC2 both playing and watching (still watch the finals of tournies where I can)... I've already warned my gf that I'm gonna go to this! Here's to the live experience reinvigorating the SC2 passion!

Paris is a cancerous, decaying, disgusting city. I hope it's not there.

If you disagree, it means you haven't seen all of Paris. I despise the city.

Why so violent man? You may have a bad experience in Paris, it is not the case for anybody. Also Paris is the center of all French transport network and most of the international connexion by train/airplane are done via Paris. It is simpler to go with Paris for international event but it is more expensive obviously.

I "lost" (perhaps it was a pickpocket as I had never lost anything before, but I ll give it the benefit of the doubt) my wallet in DH valencia man, I m not going around telling everybody that Valencia sucks.

I still had a great experience in Valencia regardless.

One guy got his wallet stolen, it doesnt mean the whole city sucks!

As a Parisian, I agree that we have some issues with that (mostly subway/champs elysees), that Paris is a bit dirty and fairly expensive.
But go to New York for instance, or London, and you ll see the same.

Whether you like it or not, Paris is the best place to organise an international event because it is the center of the French transportation network.

That's why the LCS were there too, and it seems everything went well there even though it was in the 19th district.

edit: regardless of the city though, it d be great. Grenoble is amazing and has a lot of students too
As long as it s easily accessible by transportation it s fine.
Lorning! I wanna meet you in person! I ll have you take a picture with my CJ bandana! :p

Paris is the epitome of everything that is wrong with France and I'm not talking about grimy public transport.

I would love it for DH to be at Strasbourg. Nice and close to the German border so we can get our Knuddel friends to come, beautiful city, it's close to Belgium and Holland, etc.

If he got stolen at or near the Meltdown, it is known that the neighborhood is known for having pickpockets and that the bar itself has been the target for a couple of month of pickpocketing too. Got 2 friends that are regular customer got stolen their wallet there.

But I agree with GTB-Ball above basically you could get your wallet stolen in every single city basically it's just a matter of bad luck. I love how french people despise Paris and people living in it but that never experience living in paris. I have a scoop for you bros, lot's of parisian are actually people coming from other cities for work. I'm from Grenoble, it is a nice city but so is Paris. I didn't instantly changed into a butthurt stereotypical Parisian as soon as I step my foot in the capital.

Incognito I don't know what make you cause that hate but the words you use... damn it seems you hate Paris deep in your heart.

Great choice, France gives the biggest crowds in Europe

One suggestion for the players: going to strip clubs in Paris after the tournament is NOT recommended.
