His mechanic was good in the game that I saw, but it seems like he's lacking fundamental understanding of the game (when to stop dropping, when to start viking, how many etc.) SKT need a top tier terran there to help him
His macro needs to improve. He's always floating lots of minerals pre-midgame

i thought he was one of the best BW players, and in BW it was far more difficult to macro?
To put it bluntly FanTaSys macro compared to someone like Flash wasn't very good. However he was the terrorist for a reason. His constant harassment everywhere on the map with dropships and vulture runbys pulled his opponents apart quite literally. He may not have had perfect macro, but his micro, gamesense and sheer tactical advantage over his opponents was unrivalled.
I would like to see this proleague finals interview if anyone has a link.

This is true BUT you need to adapt to SC2. For exemple a Tank take more supply in SC2 that in BW. So when you play marine tank for an example you saw a lot of BW good player get supply block and i'm sure it's hard to have ten years of "2supply tank" changed into 3.
Also as someone said Fantasy had good macro but not top tier macro. But you know oov had a bad macro. And he was outproducing everyone at the time because he put more production facilty to lower the gap of the macro. (or something like that i don't remember exactly)

what FFW_Rude wrote was correct. iloveoov would put more production facilities which helped him with macro. I think his greatest strength was the risk taking. An example that I've heard, he'll be defending or attacking someone and would double expand. To me, decision making and what FFW_Rude wrote are why he was called the macro king. Flash was also a macro king. This is why Flash was a macro king:

It's not exactly like that. The reason why oov was so good at the time (as obvious as the next part may sound) is that he sacrificed early "timings"/safety and tech based off like 1-2 groups of units of 1 base for multiple expansions pre-13 minutes or so while NOBODY else really would. Then it didn't really matter if he was keeping up mechanically or not because timings to attack in the mid-to-late game weren't as sharp back then and thus oov could simply lolol and press t on all his factories.
Flash (and also JD) were good not only because they made timings that changed strategies, but also because they just mastered/refined stuff mechanically before everyone else.
