MVP is getting too big, wouldnt there be a financial problem? i dont mean to sound negative, but we've seen this before in the sc2 scene.. i hope mvp is making a calculated move into this and would have to drop any of these fan favorite players in the near future ![](/mirror/smilies/frown.gif) They are all gone. You take DRG's twitter name change, which, as we all know, really is indicative of team departure - and look at the strength (or cost $) of all the players listed as a new roster, including the potential extra players they might use to fill out their pro league roster. MVP is dead. They're simply avoiding sharing that fact, or the grittier details of it, because we're talking about a business, with sponsors. It is rather amusing, though, that they are trying to be sly about that at all. As if anyone who is a fan of MVP isn't going to notice that everything they were actually a fan of is gone. Only the derpiest sense of fandom would commit to MVP simply for the sake of the name. Or maybe an announcement from MVP themselves will follow soon? imo it would be silly of them to kick players like Super and DRG
Here's what I think. You don't need much tin foil for this one - Owner/sponsors are unhappy with the performance of their SC2 team, particularly by contrast to the success and numbers of their Moba teams. Tired of this lackluster state, they wipe the team and start from scratch. Maybe something was offered to some of the better players - like Super and DRG, but with DRG's twitter name already being changed.. the idea that he remains is already something that I would bet money against. That's the meaningful metric for me - whether I'd put money on it. Maybe they did want to retain a few of their best players. But MVP is a family team that has been around since the beginning and a lot of those players (DRG, Sniper, Super, Tails, maybe billowy) have been playing and training together from the beginning. I could see them not wanting to stick with the team if the family was being thrown out. If everything about the team was being thrown out, except for them.
Just look at the cross-game / organization-wide level of restructuring going on here, with the coach from one game being moved to coach their teams in another game. Someone with power/$ gutted what was MVP. Even if they wanted to hold onto DRG and Super, do you think they could afford all of the players they just listed, and that they would also still be looking to contract in players like seed, HerO and Leenock?
MVP tried to strengthen its roster with alive and hyvaa - somewhat dubious picks. That attempt has been a failure, with their performance declining since those pick-ups. I think that was the last straw.
And I get it. This is a business. You can't just dump money into a poorly performing team forever. But in the same breath, rebuilding your team with the roster of the worst-performing team in team leagues belies more that someone was impatient and unhappy, than that they actually have any idea how to run a team or make anything better.

Rather a partnership so he can help MVP in proleague.
Also I really dislike Choya for this.
Retire as a player. Retire as a player. Become a fulltime coach Say after fOu disbanded he always hated being a coach and wanted to be a player And now, half a year later he is a coach again. Like wtf

Yeah, for a second, it's tempting to be like oh Choya, cool, I guess that's a pretty good coach.. people know him, and he's a character that we can love, or something. But my estimate of him now is that he's just a merc coach, trying to stay employed, who has a bigger 'name' than he does a reputation for success. This may be too hard on him, but, after reading your post.. I feel a bit more affirmed.

Wow that leaves several big free agents from MVP. This is really interesting

Damn this is awesome, a lot of the long time teamless but still excellent Koreans finally getting a new home. I wonder what this means for the rest of the MVP lineup though, it is still quite large and they have fantastic players in DRG, Super, Keen, Dream and tons of supporting cast in Billowy, Shine (not the evil cheesy one) and Tails. Not sure how MVP could support all of their old players and their new crew.

OH MY GOD!
Such a good day, so many good news.
Remember how grim was last year at the same period?
I'm so happy right now

Can I assume IM is disbanding now? Lucky can't split in 5 and make a team. You don't seem to know that IM is like the worst team in team leagues. And MVP has just assimilated that team, while getting rid of its own, which, while not the best team, was certainly a better performer than IM was in team leagues. Every team is. This was true a long time ago but IM won the last GSTL they participated in and if you look at their match and game records this last season of SPL played MUCH better than MVP did. Of course much of that was due to ByuL, who is on CJ now. If it really is the case that all of MVP's old roster (particularly DRG and Super) are gone and are being replaced with the players listed in the OP, I think they've gotten worse, not better. With the exception of HerO, every player listed there is someone who has not been a "top" player since WoL.
Aye, thanks for reminding me about Byul. He has been a surprisingly late bloomer w/ his recent performance, and yeah, it's a big part of any recent, temporary success that IM had.

If IM somehow miracle their way out of disbanding (which seems unlikely given that they only have 1 player in Lucky, but there have been some rumors), I don't think it would be impossible for there to be a tenth team. It could either involve a lot of convincing TotalBiscuit or other foreign teams joining together, sure, but it's still a possibility. There are almost no incentives for someone like TB or foreign teams in general to touch PL with a ten foot pole, and a lot of very good reasons not to.
On the plus side, I was about 9001% sure MVP was deder than Sc2, but they seem determined to stick with it. Coolios.

To be fair, the way he worded it seems like DongRaeGu's future within MVP is very uncertain.
