Unless you count his qualifier runs, of course, which I don't because they don't really matter as much and aren't as easily trainable for.

Agreed. Dark got far last round and Solar has been on a tear lately. The guy almost beat an unstoppable Taeja (and probably would've had it not been for a mistake or two).

Artosis and Wolf were talking about this--not counting IM/MVP/Prime members who while in KeSPA now are not long-time KeSPA players, the only big player in Code S who predated the big KeSPA switch to SC2 is DRG. Avenge and Hurricane did too but they were never significant individual league contenders. Dear and Trap and INnoVation might be teamless or on a foreign team now but they count as historical KeSPA players from their days on STX.

A lot of fan favourites and strong players lined up. Could be best GSL of 2014.

Group G is absolutely no group of death. It rather might be A, D or E. But overall, I think there's no group of death at all in that stage. Of course it's stacked, but there's not a group with (e.g.) Soulkey, Bbyoung, Zest and Maru, i.e. vier top-tier ballers.
Group G has two heavy favourites in TRUE and PartinG, with Dear and TY as wildcards. TY won't get the practice for his matches, given the proleague finals, while Dear has just fought his way back to Code S and is somewhat of an unclear variable.

Jesus Groups D and E are so stacked. If this was last winter I would agree that Group G is the group of death, but Dear isn't the same as he was, nor is TY to some extent. Anyways:

I actually think Flash will get knocked out.
Dark has godlike ZvT, and Solar showed some extremely good games vs. Taeja and Innovation at IEM Shenzhen.
Avenge also has been doing very well.

Sounds like you dont know what "group of death" means. A group of 4 codeB players is more a "group of death" than a group with 2 CodeS and 2 codeB players. Chose the one group you are completely uncertain which 2 players will advance.

What? Innovation was godlike in first half of 2013 before terran nerfs. His TvZ was unstoppable with MMMM. Other terrans only tried to copy Innovation's style.

I can't believe I'm about to say this, but I think the group that Flash is in is actually being underrated. Avenge is getting really damn good these days, Solar is looking like possibly the best Zerg in the world, and Flash is one of the best players in proleague, as well as being a consistent performer early in the GSL group stages. Dark is an excellent SKT recruit, who was even starting to get good in the later part of his days on Slayers.

Group G is insane and will be heartbreaking whatever happens. Pretty stacked GSL on the whole and hard to predict groups.

You could try to make that argument and rationlize it for any group. I still think that group is probably one of the weakest, which bodes well for Flash.

People who think Flash has an "easy" or "weak" group are deluded. Solar is one of the best Zergs in the world. Dark 4-0'ed Bbyong last season and won Maru in the standard macro game they played on Merry. The "weakest link" Avenge advanced first of his Code A group with 4-0 record, ahead of PartinG's 5-2.

ID say the only group that does not have 3 strong players and one wild card is H.
In every other group I can see 3 guys going forward
