Fnatic are happy to announce the addition of Polish player Piotr 'souL' Walukiewicz to the Starcraft 2 Academy. The 15 year old Terran player has already been showing a lot of promise and will now have the Fnatic StarCraft 2 academy behind him to develop his skills. Even at such a young age he came close to qualifying for the WCS EU Season 2 through the Wildcard placement, with time we can see him going far in WCS.
Piotr started playing at the age of 11, starting with Warcraft 3 but then made the switch to StarCraft 2. He managed to climb his way from Bronze league to Grand Master. To date his biggest achievement is a 2nd place finish in the ESL Pro Series Season VII Poland having beaten players like Senin and Tefel along the way.
Elroy 'Noname' Pinto This has definitely not been easy, it might be easier to locate Leprachauns than find a good Terran player in Europe. I am glad we could pick souL for our Academy program. We have prided ourselves on the development of our players and in the last 1.5 years we've been able to work very well with this group of players. Harstem, Mini, Zanster, Ignite & Neeb have their own strengths and talents and after a long search and a lot of weeks of internal practice we have decided to proceed further with souL. One remember the days we picked up Zanster, Pink (now Ignite), Mini & Neeb and a lot of people wondered what we were doing, I hope a year and a half later we have silenced our critics and most importantly continue to grow from strength to strength. A big thanks to everyone on the SC2 team that has made it possible for us to reach this point.
You are joining the Starcraft 2 Academy for Fnatic, how does it feel to start your career here with us?I feel great about it as I always wanted to join the team and play with Fnatic colours. What do you think are your strongest points as a StarCraft 2 player?I think I'm very good at micro. I have nice mutlitasking skills and really fast in managing them. I think that the balance problem between races stops the possibility of improving my results. There are a number of great players already at Fnatic, is there anyone in particular that you look forward to playing with?
Every one of the Fnatic players are good and I want to play with them all. At 15 years old you have almost made it to the WCS, do you think that being in the Academy will help push you into new challenges like the WCS?
Of course, Fnatic players are so experienced in Starcraft, I had big problems with TvZ but training with Zanster made me better and I'm confident in this matchup now. As a Terran player what is your favorite unit in the game and why?
Marine I chose this race because of marines. I love to watch that unit in micro and I play it often. What do you look forward to the most being a part of the Fnatic family?
Extensive training and quick results and of course many swag clothes ;D

wait you aren´t allowed to play wcs if your not 16?!

" I think that the balance problem between races stops the possibility of improving my results." - is that just worded wrongly or is it saying that he's never going to become better unless his race gets a buff?

Yes, HeroMarine waited over a year for WCS and more years for EPS. Same happened to XlorD back in WC3 days, he ripped everyone except few nonAsia players. Finally he was 16, suddenly EPS was fucking onesided for him. First season 14-0-1 (28-4 mapscore) and second season with 15-0-0 (30-2 mapscore). HasuObs wasnt a opponent for him :D (3 times 2nd)

well what i mean is he isnt allowed to play there so this is nothing to be proud of or not ?

sounds like he blames his results on balance. not really a recipe for success if you ask me. taeja says balance what?

Hmmm, I didn't know Fnatic had an academy, but always happy to see a team expanding.

I agree. If he thinks terran is weak it might be a good idea to switch the race.

I guess PvP sucks... because no one has a stronger Unit

Yeah I can't find myself to be too hopeful for his future when he says this in a question not related to balance. Let's hope he's just bad at interviews or it was a bad translation.

Fnatic has the perfect buisness strategy. Contracting young talents, which probably dont receive a lot salary and who play like hell to perform well under the flag of maybe the most prestigous eSports organization currently. Mini, Zanster and Harstem are delivering great results in Europe, while fnatic stands with their philosophy to represent European eSports. Best team, thumbs up!

I thought tthat team SouL was back for a second

never heared of him, but hopefully we will see him soon taking some succeeds.

I think that the balance problem between races stops the possibility of improving my results. Extensive training and quick results It's great to see a young and aspiring pro player. Sadly I find it harder and harder to like souL after reading these 2 lines :/.
|
Lol at the people complaining about souL's comment on race balance. You guys are just mad you play Z or P.
Hope souL can get good results despite his choice to play Terran.
Only the Koreans have been able to in the history of Starcraft. I'd love to see a foreign Terran make real waves in the scene. Sadly, I doubt it.

Swag clothes. I see his priorities are on point

"I have good micro and multitasking, but no results becaus of imbalance" -.-
Well he is 15 I guess, good luck.

What he said:

What you read:
"I have good micro and multitasking, but no results becaus of imbalance" -.-

I just wrote what he meant, well he thinks his micro is very good though . I won't argue with you over this, if you think he didn't mean that balance is the reason he doesn't/didn't have better results.

Wow what a good mind state. "I think that the balance problem between races stops the possibility of improving my results". True though this may be, you just don't make this kind of statements as a professional gamer. I guess we can pardon him because he's so young but he should keep an eye on those slip-ups.
Then again, good luck to him on reaching his full potential. He seems to have talent from what we've seen in WCS qualifiers.

I can't believe Fnatic published this article w/o editing what he said to make him look good. But ofc bad marketing is somehow good marketing.

Actually that's the thing what do I remember about souL, that he is/was (didn't play SC for a really long time now, so I'm not sure about the current situation) really bad manner in ladder and even in clan wars, complaining about the balance and being offensive towards the other players. Of course while being in the team like fnatic he won't act like that, I believe. Hope he has changed his attitude tho, good luck to him!
