Its a real pity this DH is happening on the same weekend as IEM. Hopefully both turn out to be fantastic though.

Hmm lack of KESPAAAAAAAAA considering it is end of season for Prime/Samsung/IM/MVP is strange. Oh well maybe next DH when all of KESPAAAAAAA are finished xD

You have to remember that IEM is that weekend and some of those players you're listing are attending that.
Also note that Proleague playoffs are 20-22 for one semi final, so no major SKT or CJ players will travel.

Everyone wants those summer slots. But in IEM's case weren't they paid exhorbitant amounts of money to host an IEM in Shenzhen?

Nope. I'm sure First will take it. He's one of the best Korean Protosses atm. Also, Solar stands a real chance winning too. Not a very good Terran line up, but that's because Taeja decided to go easy on these people.

Well they had their chances at HSC/DH Bucharest but didn't make the playoffs. I think, that it is only fair of Samsung to now give Solar a chance, since he has been a valuable player for them as well.

Solar announced on his stream all the way back in like January or February that he was going to Valencia. I thought it was pretty far ahead of time but I guess he's been locked in for some time now :D

Pretty surprised to see no Jaedong since he's been going to most tournaments since joining EG. I guess right now I would pin HyuN as the favorite maybe if he can dodge the stronger Korean protoss or Solar

Regarding eligibility, it says on DH website "Each DreamHack Open stop will feature open sign-ups for 64-96 competitors." Does that mean anyone can sign up, even Bob the gold player?
Also, regarding group stages, for the past 3 DH events it says on the liquidedia page http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/2014_DreamHack_Open/Valencia "The 32 competitors with the highest seed will begin their tournament in the second group stage. " I'm wondering how is seeding determined?
